  1. 3.65M is stingy? He could have insisted on going in front of an arbiter for 4M. It was a fair compromise between 3.3M and 4M.
  2. He would have made 2.75M so his 3.65M is a nice increase (he asked for 4M). That doesn't include his signing or performance bonus. He was slated to make around 3.5+, depending on the exactitudes of the performance bonuses and distribution of the signing bonus. Unless I'm missing something, Cott's doesn't show that he would have made 3.5M in '06 with the original contract. He had a 4 M signing bonus. It isn't spelled out here but I think the amount was paid out from 2002-2005. He was slated to get extra money in 2006 (under the old contract) for his 2003 Allstar appearance.

  4. Rotoworld/Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Rhodes passed his physical.
  5. These trades have all been completed. Rhodes passed his physical.
  6. Just reported on ESPN AM 1000. He agreed to 3.65m
  7. The trade is complete pending physicals. Rotoworld is reporting the following: Link
  8. Isn't Piazza from Philadelphia? Yes, he's a Norristown native. However, my bet is on the Padres to sign him.
  9. Yet another twist: Jayson Stark reports the following:
  10. The Blue Jays, but he'll have to take less than he wants. Link
  11. According to the Tribune, Pagan will have the opportunity to win a job at ST.
  12. This guy is listed, on the depth chart, as Murton's backup.
  13. Interestingly, this was mentioned on Cards Talk and most posters actually thought the article was too harsh on the Cubs.
  14. LOL, I knew it wasn't true. He's better off in the AL.
  15. You'll have to show me proof that the league doesn't value him that much before I'll believe that. And there is no 'truth' to the Rich Hill comment. Ok, I will show you. Teams have only been offering young (prospect) pitching for Dunn. Here's an example from the Detroit News: Just to clarify, Zumaya isn't a frontline pitcher. At this point, he's a prospect which equates to a Rich Hill type (BTW, the League seems to value Hill alot more than the average fan). Here's FoxSports.com's take: Those are merely two examples but there are others.
  16. You'll have to show me proof that the league doesn't value him that much before I'll believe that. And there is no 'truth' to the Rich Hill comment. So you say...
  17. Why Jim, why?!  LOL, the Cubs reportedly backed away from that trade. That's a topic for another thread.
  18. I don't think Dunn should net a front-line starter. That said, I don't think he's being shopped. It isn't uncommon for fans to undervalue other team's talent, and overvalue their favorite team's talent. Dunn has top 10 offensive numbers in numerous categories, including the Sabremetric friendly and coveted stats of the current era of baseball. And at age 26, he should continue that peak level performance for at least 3 more years, and not at a price that kills. Dunn's production per dollar is killer. The blinders have to come off at some point. Talent like Dunn's is definately worth a front-line starter, especially considering his top level production level is steady and predictable, a rarity in baseball. Sorry but I'm not wearing blinders. Dunn is not equal to a quality starter. The Reds don't even value him that much (and the rest of the League isn't attempting to give them a front-line starter in a trade). The truth is, they would have taken Rich Hill for him.
  19. I see a lot wrong with it. First of all, Jason Michaels isn't worth, potentially, two Major League players in a trade (you want to give them Novoa and Wuertz [or Koronka])? Secondly, the Cubs would be the only team not getting a ML quality player in return. Lastly, why do the Cubs need Dustin Pedroia when they are grooming Eric Patterson as the 2B of the future?
  20. I don't think Dunn should net a front-line starter. That said, I don't think he's being shopped.
  21. Lots of teams do this. The Cardinals found Eckstein on the trash heap, signed Carpenter when he was unable to pitch, Spivey is coming back from injury, and Ponson is battling personal issues. that's just a tip of the iceberg
  22. I doubt the Cubs are involved. I wouldn't be surprised if players and agents leak out nonsense with the Cubs attached to create interest and up the price. Why did Weaver mention the Cubs as a possible destination only to have the Cubs sign Miller, the next day, and sources refute that they were ever considering him because of his rumored high price? I'm suspicious... THe Cubs certainly wouldn't ask him to catch. He would be a PH only. I wonder why the Yankees weren't mentioned? Link Here's ESPN's take:
  23. Reports say that the Phillies have had some early talks about bringing in Piazza pending the Michaels trade.
