  1. Release Wellemeyer. No loss @ all. Majorly disagree. raisin, what do you see in Welle? He has the pitches to be a bottom of the order starter - he posted an ERA of 3 at AAA in 11 starts this year. He could also be a good set-up man. The Cubs need to give him a proper role and not dust him off once every week in blow outs. I dont mean to pick a bone with you, but I dont see it. lower to mid 90's fastball, ok slider, changup...and limited success at AAA. it seems like every time he gets called up his head implodes and he cant find the strikezone. do you think he needs to start? He needs regular playing time to succeed. He doesn't get it in the big leagues (except for about two weeks in May) and that's why I think he struggles more with his control in the big leagues. He gets proper playing time in the minors and does well. If only Choi could play ever day...... And the song plays on.... It's Dusty fault. doo dooo. Dusty's fault. dooo dooo. It rained today and was Dusty's fault. doo doooo :D it'd be one thing if your boy glendon had pitched well tonight and you were over here taunting people about their preference for youngsters. it's just mind-boggling that you're still doing it after rusch got rocked. It's one poor game. The guy hasn't started for a few months. His ERA was 3.32 as a starter. He was the best option for tonight. But Welly doesn't get the same flack for his first relief appearance and big league appearance in months (AND he cleaned up one of Rusch's messes)? Welly got 1 frikken out tonight, and had to be pulled before he let 6 more men on. Rusch sukked, whereas there isn't a word in the dictionary to describe how bad Welly was. And you're going to judge a player by one bad outing, to the point of wanting to cut him? Especially when he could be used in a trade? One bad outing? In all fairness, the last time we saw Wellemeyer he was being rocked at Us Cellular Field. His contol problems are his downfall.
  2. If he can't make it here, then he's a commodity that can be sent to the teams that can use him. Why do you want Welly cut from the organization, yet clamor for Rueter to be signed? What can the Cubs get for him?? Seriously? Could catch lightning in a bottle w/ Reuter. At least he's had success in the majors, and can't be much worse than Hill, Mitre or Welly. Not by himself, using him as part of a package he's a valuable component. Besides, he's not taking anyone's space that's needed before the end of the season, no need to be wasteful by cutting him. Rueter has been terrible. We're better off seeing what we have in Rusch/Hill/Mitre/Welly/etc. than hoping to get 4 good starts out of a guy who never had good stuff whose age is catching up to him. I'll give Rusch a shot. The other 3 shouldn't be starting in a wildcard chase. Obviously Rusch did fantastic today. And the Cubs aren't in the wildcard chase. Yep, he let 6 men on in a third of an inning. ;) Dont' give up hope man. Wellemeyer is just BAD. How many chances is this guy going to get? He's his own worst enemy; walks are worse than screaming line drives... Perhaps he pitches better in AAA because all the really good hitters are in AA. LOL! Seriously, I would love him to do a good job but the Cubs aren't the Rockies. In other words, we don't have time to baby pitchers with control problems. He's not a kid.
  3. IF NE 1 CARES, THAT WAS MY 800TH POST Congrats!

It rained today and was Dusty's fault. doo doooo :D I know you're kidding but I have to say it anyway. We have to stop blaming baker for everything. These guys are making Major league money and they have to earn their pay. Baker isn't walking 5 batters in an inning or making errors. These guys have to play well On a bright note, Ohman is a good pitcher who isn't getting much credit for the season he's had thus far. He can have control problems too but more often than not, he gets his man.
  5. I dont think they'd send Murton down. He's proven to be a better hitter than Hairston IMO. The talk, before JHJ got hurt was that he was going to be waived. It makes more sense to get rid of Hollandsworth (now that we have Lawton) but I dont see that happening now... Holla's stock has fallen mightily. He isn't even the first lefty off the bench. We'll see what happens.
  6. Pat and Ron were talking about how he looks 'bigger' this year. I know you guys are just kidding around, but anyone (a righty-swinger) who plays their home games in the JuiceBox, feels like they need to be on steroids to be a better player DESERVES to be caught and banned from baseball for LIFE, just because they are so stupid!! Actually, only dumbies (Palmerio etc) would use steroids in the current urine testing enviornment. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) can only be detected via blood test (which the MLB isnt using). I see we're giving this one up. DLee's being pinch hit for. Makes sense.
  7. Pat and Ron were talking about how he looks 'bigger' this year. I'm too tired to look it up but has this guy ever hit 33 homers in his career? He had 10-15 last year (and yes, I know it was suppose to be a down year for him in '04 but he's hitting homers at a ridiculous pace). It may sound like sour grapes but HGH anyone?
  8. It doesn't matter. Wuertz is shaky but Welly should not be here (period). If you can't keep your ERA under 4 in the minors you don't belong in the MLs. I was shocked when I saw that Koronka was sent down so quickly in favor of Wellemeyer. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Koronka is the answr. Actually, I'm inclinded to think that Hill out of the pen is better than as a starter because of his limited pitches. Bring him back. Welly has got to go!
  9. Why was Burny playing so deep for Wandy? Yet another bloop hit.
  10. And Patterson swings at the first pitch. Stupid Now Wuertz is back in the fire
  11. WTF? We're down by 7 and Burnitz swings at the first pitch. OMG!!!!!
  12. ive been on the Moving Wuertz back to Iowa bandwgn for a looong time. I've been done with him since he lost the setup job. His control is horrible.
  13. Weurtz should be demoted too! Finally, the inning is over after 6 runs score with 5 walks. Bring up someone (anyone) else.
  14. Wuertz walks a batter My goodness, that's 5 total in the inning
  15. Welly is goig to be sent right back where he belongs. Evertte strikes out. 2 down
  16. Ensberg singles in a run 10-4 no outs Bases remain loaded
  17. No surprise, Wuertz walks in a run 9-4 no outs
  18. I would never bring Wuertz into a basesloaded situation. He cant locate a strike under pressure.
  19. Don't even have to hit Berk in the head and he rolls on the ground....jus get it close  Not to mention we wouldn't be able to locate our punches... LOL, we've seen that act before. :)
  20. Wow, another walk and the bases are loaded with no outs. Wuertz (another walk machine) is on his way...
  21. Agreed! His problem has always been lack of control. His ERA was over 4 in Iowa. I wasn't excited to have him back. :-& :|
  22. WTF??? Another walk and a hit Get him out of the game. Somebody has to get up in the pen! This reminds me of the White Sox game (right after Wellemeyer was sent packing)
