  1. Let's hope we don't see him again until Wednesday or so.
  2. Who said Walker plays bad defense?
  3. Is it like 1.500 against RHP? Geez.
  4. I think he's still DLed isn't he? Edit: DL on May 30.
  5. That's cause he's angry at the ball for attempting to elude him. Phil Nevin is alluded by no ball. So you're saying the ball doesn't talk about Nevin?
  6. That's cause he's angry at the ball for attempting to elude him.
  7. Solid day for Murton. 2 hits and an additional hard hit ball at the SS.
  8. Thankk you, sir. Unfortunately I had to ask and jinx him a little.
  9. How about since the most recent callup, Fred?
  10. Ohman for Hatteberg and then Aardsma maybe?
  11. How is baseball random when the same pitchers win 20 games (ok, have low ERAs and good K/BB ratios) and same hitters lead the league in avg., HR, and OBP? It's not random, it has to do with throwing good pitches, swinging at good pitches, and management having enough of a clue to put the guys on the field that can do that. There are small things that are random, but most things that are good indicators of what will happen are not.
  12. Actually, when I was in Pittsburgh, I found that my favorite Pennsylvania beer is Yuengling Amber. Very tasty.
  13. You aren't getting Soriano short-term. He's going to be looking for something like a 5 year $60m deal. Yeah, I was more referring to getting Loretta short term due to age. I agree, no way soriano takes a 2-3 yr deal.
  14. Anybody know if Colvin is a dead pull hitter? Sure looks that way as much as he's pulling off the outside pitches.
  15. Yes it is! He's a freshman though. http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/murton_luke00.html 34 Luke Murton...... .323 avg 155 ab 10db 6 hr .503 slg .418 obp .975 fld%, 6 for 7 in steals. Looks to have good patience and a little more pop than his brother. I guess we shouldn't count on the Cubs looking at him.
  16. Is that Murton's brother playing for GT? If so what does anybody know about him?
  17. That could have a couple of connotations depending on how you look at it!!!
  18. I think you have to look at the energy and popularity he has brought to the NBA. A sale of the Cubs to Cuban would most likely raise the profile of baseball and increase revenues in a roundabout way for everyone because of the increased publicity. Owners like guys who can make them more revenue, regardless of their policies or tendencies.
  19. If Walker isn't back, Soriano or Loretta short term until EPatt is ready. Move Jones to Center if he isn't traded and get Guillen for RF. I like the move for Zito, but Mulder scares me a lot. I would also be on board with Schmidt. C Barrett 1B Lee 2B Soriano/Loretta SS Cedeno 3B ARam LF Murton CF Jones RF Guillen Z, Prior, Schmidt, Marshall, and another of the young guys Howry, Eyre, Dempster, Ohman, Wuertz, Novoa Top of the order is Loretta and Murton or Murton Cedeno. Lots of thunder behind them if they get on at a decent clip.
  20. If he were a Cub, would you feel the same? Absolutely. I hate the fact that Sosa has been accused of using steroids and that he corked his bat. There is no reason anybody should be allowed to break records and make millions outside of the established rules. I don't care if he plays for the Cubs, Cards, or DRays.
  21. Why would they not approve him? Think of what Cuban bring: a huge personality and a desire to win above all else. What more could MLB ask for than a winning team on the north side to boost interest in baseball in general and get people off the topic of steroids. The Cubs and Red Sox winning are the best things that can happen to baseball.
