  1. I guess if Buerhle signs takes the ultimate hometown discount "League minimum" and Aramis signs for 3 or so mill it could happen
  2. It's a courtesy offer. It's substantial enough that it's there's no way pujols would accept it and it's substantial enough the fans will be happy. I just don't think the Cards can sign him for more than 20 mill due to other bad deals given. Thank you, White Soriano for that grand 1/2 season.
  3. There's also the part of me that's convinced he's Hendry's fallback option should Lee or Ramireze leave after next year.
  4. Agreed, they are not terrible options. They are horrendous options.
  5. I don't see the Rays wanting Vitters but I'd still do it.
  6. That might be enough for one of them Might? Really? A closer, a starting SS/2B, a guy who has excelled as a loogy(and can spot start) and a guy who has potential as a DH. Not to mention they're all very cheap and most under team control for a bit. They would instantly have 3 or 4 guys they would put on the field right now. You're missing the point of the post. agree they all suck. freakin hendry.
  7. i feel like everyone is calling him a platoon cf to say that he's not very good. Because he's not. He's a platoon player. They are 3 million dollar type players. Not 7-10 mill.
  8. Sure why not. I mean we will need a world class jack*** once the team trades bradley away for peanuts.
  9. please no. Sam Fuld will be better than Granderson
  10. Trade Bradley to the cardinals for brendan ryan. sign Theriot for 5 years 20 mill Sign Figgins 4 years 36 mill Keep castro in AA/AAA. Let Lee walk and move Ramirez to 1B. Play Figgins at 3B when castro is ready.
  11. That's not the debate though. The debate is he better choice than say 140 or so games of Sam Fuld.
  12. Like offense? Because Sam Fuld is awful at that. The guy can't even OPS a 800 OPS in the freaking PCL as a 28 year old. Defense is important but not that important. Especially for a team desperate for offense in RF.
  13. jermaine dye is like the opposite of consistent and no one with half a brain would say Sam Fuld is more valuable than Jermaine Dye. If Dye plays like he did last season, then Fuld wouldn't have to do much of anything with the bat to be more valuable overall than Dye. Sorry that you put too much stock in a name. 27 HRs and 81 RBIs. I don't think Sam Fuld could approach those half of those numbers if you gave him 2000ABs.

  15. who are these mythical solid MI's? I count two servicable 2Bs, a couple end of the bench iowa express guys and aaron miles.
  16. Dave Kaplan mostly. That oompa loompa has nothing to do with what I think of Sam Fuld.
  17. I see no reason either. Pretty much everyone agres that no contending team will have Sam Fuld as a regular starter, but as a 24th man(Aaron Miles is the 25th as far as Im concerned), hes just fine. Between Hoffpauir, Fox, and Brad Snyder, we'll likely have 2 power guys on the bench, so why not have an outfielder there for his defense? If Fox and Hoffpauier both make the roster I will be livid. They are essentially the same guy except Fox has at least some position flexibility.
  18. 4th OF is different than 25th man. He has no business being a 4th OF unless that OF consists of Manny Ramirez/Grady Sizemore/Brad Hawpe
  19. Fuld has no business being a 4th outfielder for a big market major league team. He's a bad version of Scott Posednik. so scott podsednik then Podsednik cant field to save his life anymore, and thats where Fuld excels. However, offensively, Id say Pods is Fulds ceiling, and Id take that. And scott posednik has no business being in the majors unless it's as a Dave Roberts type 5th OF.

  21. Hermida this year's miguel negron.
  22. There's not to many "power hitters" that can play 2B. In fact there are 9 guys who hit 20 or more homeruns this season that played 2b. Five of them are not going anywhere (Cano, Hill, Zobrist, Utley and Kinsler). Two other guys hit for good power but can't get on to save their lives (Lopez and Barmes). Another guy who plays in the division and is likely to cost more then what he is worth (Phillips). So really that leaves one guy who is a "power hitter" that can play second and could be available and that is Dan Uggla. You are forgetting the legend of Mark Derosa.
  23. Crisp hasn't been any good since testing came to baseball. and well Hudson he's going to be too expensive for a middle infielder who will be 32 on opening day.
  24. Wha, wha, what? Somanonom beach. Lou has said Soriano won't be there, he's also said he likes Fukudome near the top, but maybe not leadoff. And he wants more team speed. Yeah, I think they are looking at speedy leadoff again. Not good hitter maybe, but stereotypical leadoff hitter. Some guys off the top of my head that I could see us going after (Trade/FA) are. Most Likely: Nyjer Morgan Fred Lewis Coco Crisp (Way down on my list) Orlando Hudson Chris Young DO NOT WANT
  25. and that's silly. Say what you say about Iwamura he's been 90-100 OPS+ performer in the big his entire career. Outside of a cup of coffee season in 2003 Miles has once been in that range. And by and large has been a 70-75 OPS+ guy.
