  1. The White Sox speed and small ball is killing us today.
  2. Blame Barrett for not making contact, but why in the world do you hit and run with your cleanup hitter?
  3. 79 64 for JC before this inning. Contreras will throw 64 pitches in an inning if you let him.
  4. No one wants to see someone killed on the diamond. I'm glad Carlos was able to restrain himself.
  5. Believe it or not, there are other teams that overvalue Pierre's skills. We could get something for him. There aren't too many other players that are worth trading. I think Wood is more valuable to the team than he is as trade bait (at least until he proves he's healthy.) Maddux and Walker are the only guys who might get you something in return.
  6. He was one of the most sought after players in the offseason according to national baseball reporters. But Hendry never sells high. He wouldn't trade Hill for Dunn, you know.
  7. I know I hate it when Murphy does this, but really, what's there to like about this team. No one appears to be playing with any heart right now. We never work the count despite having little to no success early in counts, our fundamentals are horrible and the sad thing is, I don't see it changing. This isn't a personal attack on you, but "heart" isn't the problem. They're not a very good team. FIRE! and INTENSITY! doesn't turn Pierre into a good player.
  8. Does anyone not remember the article Scoop Jackson wrote last year that argued that if Baker was fired, it was due to racism? Another reason to ignore ESPN.
  9. It's hard to care. I thought this team was inadequate before the season started. It's hard to get excited about a team that only has a chance of winning if the other teams in the division regress.
  10. Wagner's hurt and needs surgery, but he's trying to pitch through it. He's a shell of himself right now.
  11. I've been as critical of Baker as anyone and I still think he needs to go, but I don't think anything will make this team any better. Honestly who could win with this bunch of crap? I know I'm beating a dead horse, but Baker is part of the reason that the team is inadequate. He asked for many of the players he has now. He rides he starters too hard - especially in 2003 when Prior was what, 22 years old? Or was he 23? It sickens me that injuries are being used as an excuse when Baker probaby played a part in some of those injuries.
  12. Usually Ozzie holds his starters to a strict 110 pitch limit. We'll see. I'd bring in someone from the pen.
  13. It's not just lack of walks, it's a complete lack of power. But we can score so many different ways now! Of course, power helps produce walks. Pierre's going to see a lot more strikes than Jim Thome or Bobby Abreu. But, as many often point out, it's an organizational problem, too. The Cubs led the majors at swinging at the first pitch in 2004 and 2005.
  14. I finally saw the AJ/Barrett confrontation. Barrett totally pulled the punch. He'll get a big suspension, but he didn't hit AJ very hard at all.
  15. LOL. Everyone's talking about how many games back the Cubs are, but I've been watching how many back of us the Pirates are. Finishing last might cause changes to be made.
  16. Considering the Cubs have a 0.76% chance of making the playoffs this year according to BP's Postseason Odds simulator, I think it's fine to bring up a minor league catcher for a while. The season is already over. They ought to start thinking about what they want to get for Pierre and others right now.
  17. Didn't realize that the Angels are sliding almost as bad as we are. Same problems that we had in the offseason. They needed at least one other bat and didn't do anything. A lot of baseball analysts picked them to miss the playoffs this year.
  18. I don't think anything will change. I don't either, not as long as these clowns have the injury excuse to use. Injuries that, some of which, were likely caused by said clowns. Prior averaged more than 113 pitches per start as a 22-year-old.
  19. I've got to leave the office now, but all of you negative nabobs can line up to apologize to me when the Cubs go on to win this game. GO CUBS!
  20. Please explain why you think that the Cobs will score 5 runs against a pretty good pitcher, especially since they cant hit lefties if their lives depended on it. Team speed. With guys like Pierre and Hairston at the top of the order, we can score runs faster than you can blink an eye. GO CUBS! Please tell me you're joking... Plus the speed of Cedeno and Perez at the bottom of the lineup. Mark my words, small ball will win this game. GO CUBS! So, what happened to all those runs that great speed was going to score us? This team is a frick'n joke. Chicago Cubs! Whats the joke? Huh? Well, thats the punchline, whats the joke? The game isn't over yet, Captain Smartypants. This team, unlike the 2004 version, can manufacture runs at will because they do not have to rely on the long ball. I predict three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth via bunts, hit-and-runs, steals, and other such shenanigans.
  21. Glendon should totally bean Konerko. Glendon + Dusty being suspended = best thing that could happen to Cubs.
