  1. I don't want to start a philosophical debate but the saying that by getting a win is not an indicator of how someone played is pretty illogical. I realize that it is a team sport and the team as a whole gets the win, but the pitcher has a great deal to do with that. Really? Even if you get a win by pitching 5 innings and giving up 8 runs but your team scores 9? Or if you blow a three run lead in the 9th and then your team comes back and wins in the bottom half? Or if you throw 8 shutout innings but your closer blows the game? That's logical? Please. Good lord. Some of you guys and you Uber Extreme situations. So a guy who wins 22 games but gives up lots of fly balls is worth less than a guy who wins 11 games but is a ground ball pitcher right? You'd rather have the second guy on your team, huh? Perhaps the HOF should start inducting people based on their FB/GB ratio since wins don't matter. And, for the notion that getting caught stealing hurts worse than stealing a base helps... right. Incredibly absurd. That's like saying that getting thrown out at second on a base hit is more detrimental than hitting a double is positive. It's nonsense. At the very least, the two should be equal. At the very least.
  2. No points for wins? Seriously? And only a single point for a save? Nothing earned for a complete game? I just don't get awarding points for something as common as a double play turned, but nothing for a complete game, and nothing for getting a win. I realize that CBS' scoring system has some obvious flaws, but they award 10 points for a win, 5 for a complete game, 5 (or 10) for a save. At least you get something out of that. And what is the deal with this: IF you're a pitcher and walk someone intentionally, you are AWARDED points, but if you're a hitter who get walked intentionally, you have points DEDUCTED? ANd finally, this: WHy do you only get .25 points for stealing a base, but get deducted .5 points for a caught stealing? Getting caught is more harmful than stealing a base is good? And the CSC category makes no sense. 1 point for getting caught stealing by a catcher? Are some of these just typos? If not, some of this scoring is little wacky.
  3. Not quite sure about that either. I had Berkman at the top of my waiver wire, but I've since moved him down. I'm not getting points for him, I don't believe... or at least I shouldn't be. Funny thing is.. I'm not claiming Berkman. I'm claiming ARod. Tim... this does need to be fixed.
  4. I need Bay and Sheff, but am not sure that I have the parts necesary to get them from you in a deal. Make me what you feel is an acceptable offer, and we can see waht we can do. I'm going to wait until after waivers to see what happens, then I'll make an offer. Good call. I would have waited until waivers passed before I accepted anyway, since I don't want to do anything to jeapordize my shot at picking first from waivers.
  5. I need Bay and Sheff, but am not sure that I have the parts necesary to get them from you in a deal. Make me what you feel is an acceptable offer, and we can see waht we can do.
  6. Offer me Manny for what you feel is fair value, and I'm likely to accept.
  7. Tim... You have several good looking names on your "On the Block" list. Why is that? I'm pretty confused as to why people would be putting the best names on the game on their On the Block lists. Bay, Sheffield? I'll take them both. Heck, I'd take Thome too, and Quentin. I see Manny's name up there as well from another team. What is the deal with these guys? Why are you offering them?

    Contraction

Tim.. What will happen is this- whenever a player you have put a claim on has been taken, then your subsequent claims will all move ahead. The first player you have claimed who is still avalailable will be your first waiver acquisition. You won't be passed over. The first player who you have claimed and is still available when you are at the top of the list is the player you will receive.
  9. I'm waiting for an offer. :D For what?!? You have a full team. I have NOTHING. I need about 40 draft picks to put anything useful together. My team is horrid. Whoever owned them before did an absolute screw job on me. It's like I took over a team run by Jim Hendry.
  10. You guys out there anywhere? I'm trying to offer you guys deals that involve draft picks, but if you're not gonna respond, it's kind of pointless. I've turned down other good trades waiting on you guys. I need to know something here.
  11. Nah, I was just in a horrible mood last night. I'm glad you've offered this league, and I think it will be fun, eventually. I just don't see it being much fun in 2007 or 2008 with the stiffs that I have on my team currently and the fact that I only have the same amount of picks as everyone else. It'll be fine, I was just pissy last night.
  12. Why is it such a horrible ranking system? Is it customized to be so awful? Normally, cbs allows you to rank players at their positions and then to rank your draft by position. The way that its done in this league is horrible. Was it set up this way? Gah, it's terrible. So far, I'm not liking what I've gotten myself into. My team blows and the draft ranking system is set up perfectly for a person who has zero life outside of the internet. Not so much for a guy with a wife and a job. Good lord, it took an hour to sort through all the unavailable players just to rank 30 guys. Oh well, let's just call 2007 waht it is... a lost cause. Wait til next year!
  13. Me, too. I signed up because the draft was scheduled for last Sunday night. Then the draft got moved to this weekend, and, like a good Cubs fan, I'm taking my family to Cincinnati for opening day, so Saturday night won't work for me. This is the only time I'll gripe about it, but the team I inherited has many holes to fill (very little in terms of young keepable talent). Sportsline's ranking tools are the worst I've ever seen. I ranked 50 players, but that took hours, and I don't have time to rank any more. If my team doesn't finish last, you guys aren't very good. Sportsline actually has great ranking tools, but I think Tim has customized them into teh abomination that they are. In other leagues, I have been able to rank by position, and then rank my draft by position. This ranking system is AWFUL.
  14. Okay, I'll give you all my players for your top 5 picks. I'll throw in my last 8 picks.
  15. I'll give players for picks, too.
  16. You've been offering too, huh?
  17. Honestly, y'all... I cannot draft, but I don't want to postpone the draft. I will deal every single pick I have for players. If interested, let me know.
  18. The Smokies typically play the UT Vols at some point before their season opens. Not sure if it's scheduled this year or not.
  19. I've offered you a trade that you might or might not find acceptable. It's not bad for a guy who needs pitching and catching, and it's not a far trade down on draft spots.
  20. Nevermind... I got it.

    Jazz?

It's me. What is the offer again? Alfonso Soriano for Derek Lowe #1 draft pick Wow... I'm not sure. Honestly, I am going to use that pick on Jeter, and beyond that, I have almost NO pitching. To give up Lowe and the #1 pick for a great OF doesn't seem to make a ton of sense to me right now. I'd give up a 3 probably, but not a 1. I think we can come to some kind of deal, but I cannot give up my #1 overall and my top pitcher (sad, isn't it?) for a great OF. There are just too many great OF in the game.
  22. Tim.. Is it possible for me to change my team name? Jazz kinda sucks. If not, no biggie, I'll just have to come up with a logo that I like, but if I can, I'd like to go with Hosak. Let me know.
  23. Hosak8

    Jazz?

It's me. What is the offer again?
  24. I'm here, but once again, if it's a live draft, you'll probably need to get someone else. I'm out of pocket until at least 7 pm CST. Also, are there any roster limitations? Or is it simply a CBS Sportsline league that allows for keepers?
  25. If it's head to head, why would you need daily changes? Aren't their games once a week? I've never played in a keeper league, so I am intersted. Is it live draft? That's the only hitch, but I am definitely interested.
