  1. Beatles. Hands down. Especially after going to Liverpool last weekend. The Beatles should get this both because I love their stuff and their influence is so huge.
  2. Apparently according to SI.com, the Rangers and Astros have also inquired. The Astros offer includes Lidge and Ensberg. Wow. I'm betting the Astros pull it off with that offer. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/jon_heyman/07/30/angels.orioles/index.html
  3. Though hopefully it'll be a slugfest tomorrow, so we can wreck Webb's ERA to give Big Z a better chance at a Cy. Unfortunately, I think Webb has owned us badly in the past.
  4. Is it just me, or does it seem like every time Z pitches against the Cardinals, he faces Carpenter?
  5. AL East: Boston AL Central: Detriot AL West: Oakland Wild Card: Minnesota NL East: New York NL Central: St. Louis NL West: Los Angeles Wild Card: Cincinnati AL: Detroit over Oakland Minnesota over Boston Minnesota over Detriot NL: New York over Cincinnati St. Louis over Los Angeles New York over St. Louis World Series: Minnesota over New York
  6. We also have to remember that voters often go with the "What have you done for me lately?" approach. That means that, even though Z and Webb are the current front runners (in my mind), whoever finishes stronger will more than likely get the award.
  7. Maybe someone can back me up on this, but I think it's the third time this season that the Cubs have done it. And I think it's all been in the past week or two. Anyone?
  8. Anyone else see this? Elias on ESPN.com wrote this article, and I'll post just the section pertaining to Carlos. Pretty impressive. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2520879
  9. Good to see Dempster get a 1-2-3 inning. Hopefully he can build off that (so long as Dusty still gets canned).
  10. Though he threw a lot of pitches for six innings, that's yet another quality start for Marmol. It's a good sign for the future hopefully (I'm trying to find a silver lining in the season, and it's not happening easily).
  11. I voted Queen, but seeing their musical We Will Rock You in the West End, I almost didn't.
  12. SI.com posted a clipping from the Austin-American Statesman with the following to say: One would have to imagine that it would cost more than that for Willis, right? Right? I don't want to imagine the Astros with any more quality starters. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/07/05/truth.rumors.mlb/index.html
  13. I doubt his defense there is very good, but hasn't Nevin played third base? He could be the stopgap.
  14. Here's an excerpt about Tyrus Thomas's fantasy value from NBA.com. I don't get into the fantasy basketball thing, but its the last line that made me smile.
  15. Fred, if I'm not mistaken, this is his second callup and he's done much better. Do you have Aardsma's numbers in his second stint with the club?
  16. The Terrible Trifecta came through!
  17. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I liked that home run or not. Short term, yes. Long term, knowing Dusty...no me likey.
  18. WHO KNOWS? Well there wasnt really a save chance for Dempster the past week. True, but a good manager will give him at least an inning in between to prevent rust. Pitch in the pen as much as you want, it's not the same as facing hitters.
  19. Holy cow. Thank goodness we pulled that one out. How in the world did Dusty think giving Dempster a week off would be beneficial?
  20. Guzman's called up? I'd still like to see Marmol get a chance to start once.
  21. Lem mentioned this as well. I'll admit I haven't followed Marmol's minor league progress, but from the stuff I've seen thus far, he's got electric stuff. Why not give him a chance? Certainly can't be any worse than Rusch!
  22. Is there any truth to the rumor that Marmol could step in as a starter coming up if Wood can't pitch?
