  1. The Celtics are so overrated. While the Hawks won't beat them, I have no doubt LeBron will.
  2. The Reds just had the bases loaded with one out. Dunn hits a ball that would have scored two. Brandon Phillips runs into it. The Reds don't score. Amazing Cardinal luck.
  3. It was in the sarcastic green. Sarcastic green is a much darker green. What you used was seizure inducing green. Oh my bad.
  4. It was in the sarcastic green.
  5. Like a nice 34 year old middle reliever who is having a career year! I say we go get Steve Trachsell. He pretty much led us to the playoffs last year and can teach our young pitchers like Lilly and Marquis. Yep, a gamer and an innings eater. Plus it will allow us to get that struglling RIch Hill back to Peoria's bullpen to work on what's wrong. Now you're talking! Do you think they'll bite with just Pie or should the Cubs add Gallagher and Donaldson as well? Well we can't move Donaldson yet, stupid draft rules. I would probably try and throw in Marmol to sweeten the deal. That way when Rich gets things under control he has a spot as a loogy.

  7. I love everyone assuming that he will only go five innings. They obviously think this is a big enough series and are not evening going to have Sheets rehab at all. Plus their manager is Ned Yost. I bet he throws over 110 pitches.

  9. All you need is Ned Yost at his managerial best and I'm sure they'll be plenty tired, especially the pen. all 9 of them.
  10. they have 2 real big leaguers. pujols and wainwright.
  11. Jorge Cantu would be out of a job after that at bat were I running the Marlins. That was pathetic.
  12. uh, no We're pretty good, the Brewers are also pretty good. If the Cardinals keep playing above their talent level (which isn't unusual for that franchise), they're off to a good start. The East is better on paper, but right now the Central is playing the best. The Cardinals have two guys on that entire team that I would want on the Cubs. Two. Yet here they are playing great ball again.
  13. Yes, but Cedeno is better at 2B than Theriot as well. but given the choice between the better defender at SS or 2B, you have to pick SS, right? Not according to the second game in colorado you don't.
  14. Yes, but Cedeno is better at 2B than Theriot as well. No it's because Lou isn't going to move his starting Shortstop so Ronny starts the game at 2B. Rest assured he will be right back on the bench when Soriano gets back. But, he will get to sit next to Felix at least.
  15. Oh man I get to watch Peavy and Webb next. Nice.
  16. Every team goes through little stretches like this, especially on the road. They get to go home and regroup on their off day tomorrow and will still be 16-9 and in first. I'm disappointed with their performance today, but it's not the end of the world. Eh the bright side is we could have won at least 9 in a row. It's just too bad that St' Louis continues to think they are a good team and win at such a high clip. I really wish they would wake up and let us and Milwaukee duke it out. But, I bet they hang around for most of the year.
  17. What a terrible way to end this roadtrip. The offense really crapped the bed today.
  18. Cardinals up now too. Looks like we are losing ground to both teams today.
  19. Some real nice managing by Lou here. Don't just let Wuertz get terrible Ron Mackowiak out.
  20. i was really just highlighting the asinine logic (or lack thereof) of all the bashing for any of the team's struggles towards one particular player who has played stellar baseball so far this year. the tunnel vision is strong with a significant faction of the game threaders. "870 OPS? for a SS wow that's pretty goo-...oh **** it, i hate that little guy anyways" Funny you should mention tunnel vision, because thats what you're using to look at his OPS. so with his high OPS he is still detrimental to the team? thats funny as the notion of that pertaining to A-Rod has always been mocked and derided on here. kind of a double standard. ARod maintains his OPS thoughout the season. The two situations aren't remotely comparable. Theriot's 1 1/2 good months in 2007 had a net loss effect because the rest of the time he was terrible. If Ryan has an .870 OPS this month and .600-.670 OPS's for the next two, he won't have helped the team at all. And don't try and feed me that Lou Piniella crap. We all know that Ryan will get a prolonged chance to "pull out of it" even if he starts to tank (which he will almost certainly do). Seems like a pretty good comparison. In most fantasy drafts those two guys go one and two.
