  1. No. Not at all either. I think if the Cubs wanna go far in the playoffs they're going to need to aquire a #2. Most people here have been saying that for most of this season. Lilly isn't this bad, but he's not a "true" #2 that you can hinge your playoffs on with the ace. yep...this is why i constantly pray for the bluejays to loose at least 95% of their games till the allstar break... BURNETT CHA CHA CHA Or we could just call our number 2 back up from Iowa.
  2. Have you collected your award for "Most optimistic poster" yet? Ted has nothing. Cook owns us. I am pretty confident this one is ova...
  3. Even our forfeit lineup look pretty good. Theres nothing wrong with Ramirez is there? He's 0-10 against the starter, so it's a nice day to give him a break. Except that past performance in 10 at-bats has absolutely no predictive value. I used to give the benefit of the doubt to managers who made lineup decisions based on past batter-pitcher performance (Brenly goes crazy over those stats), but the research of Lichtman/Tango/Dolphin pretty much squashes the idea that certain pitchers own certain hitters and vice versa. Yeah, but if Aramis is uncomfortable with a guy and needs a day off, just kill two birds with one stone.
  4. And Kobe tried to quit this team. While a great player he is nothing more than an ass. Well, he didn't try to quit this team. Gasol wasn't there at the beginning of the year, Bynum wasn't expected to be as good as he was when healthy and not many people expected the Lakers to be the top seed in the West for a while before Bynum went down. Going into the year, I figured it would be tough for LA to make the playoffs. And even if the Lakers did play well, I thought they would have a really tough time advancing past the first round. I'm by no means defending what Kobe did, because he was an idiot in the way he acted. But you would be hard pressed to find a person who realistically thought, at the beginning of the year, that the Lakers would be in the NBA Finals. Even when they were playing well and had the best record in the West when Bynum was healthy, I didn't really think they would be in the spot they are now. While I don't agree with the way he handled it, I understand why Kobe was frustrated. I was kind of indifferent on Kupchak after the Shaq trade since, considering the circumstances, I thought he got about as much as he realistically could. But I was pissed with him letting Fisher walk and then trading Gary Payton, which left them with Chucky Atkins followed by two years of Smush Parker. Then he went and traded Caron Butler for Kwame Brown and then Butler goes and makes two straight All-Star games. There were no signs that showed the Lakers were going to be any better than they were the past couple years and Kobe, rightly IMO, felt they were wasting his prime years. But like I said, I don't agree with him publicly bitching and moaning about it, but I can't blame him for doing so. Keep in mind Kobe forced the trade of Shaq. I think Kupchak did the best he could in those situations.

  6. jon daniels should probably just not trade with anybody, ever. should have kept dvd together
  7. Eh, I thought he got squeezed a ton on that Helton ab. Plus if the corners weren't in he is out of this with the lead. Just unlucky.
  8. Were we playing the corners in on that? Looked like it, Lee was basically parallel to the bag when he made a stab at it. I wonder why we were doing that there?
  9. anyone can have a bad year. Z last year. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
  10. What you never hit the ball to the outfield in the air again? Did you quit early? Another year after that. I was really, really, really bad. I see. I was too until about my 7th grade year. Then I became pretty good overnight. I also caught up with everyone in size and surpassed most of them.
  11. What you never hit the ball to the outfield in the air again? Did you quit early?
  12. that poster needs more intelligent friends Just because the cards did it with Looper doesn't mean anyone else will be able to pull off using crap middle relievers as starters.
  13. Well that non called thrid stirke came back to bite us in the ass.
  14. Damn centerfielder playing left cost us there.
  15. Yea, he never hits singles or anything Hitting singles isn't a trick :) They are illusions. Tricks are things that whores do for money.
  16. The Royals just sent Billy Butler to the minors. Got to keep those young guys down. You can play Gload and Pena Jr. everyday, but not a great young prospect.
  17. Is it possible to be worse than Braun at third? With Gamel, yes. He's making an error almost every fifth game. That maybe, but he can hit and they have to play him somewhere. At some point they are going to have the worst defense ever.
  18. McCann is actually out-performing Soto by a tad bit in the OPS department. It's pretty much a toss-up between the two offensively speaking. However, with defense, I'd take Soto over McCann. I can see the case for McCann, though. Russell Martin is also having himself a fine year, although he's lagging behind both in the power department. You are missing the point though. Geovany Soto have mercy on your soul.
  19. No Cubs  Its not like I did it on purpose its just I belive those are the rightful players. If I did not vote for Braun I would of voted for Adam Dunn. McCann over Soto is laughable. He is Geovany Soto.
  20. How far away is Gammel(sp)? He could make this real interesting.
