  1. I doubt those draft picks will bring us half the joy that Woody did.
  2. I really don't think there were any other factors than the fact that you don't give a guy with his injury history the type of deal he's going to get unless you are in desperate need, which the Cubs aren't. There's no blame to be assigned over this, because it's the right thing to do from a business standpoint. Emotionally it really, really sucks, though. I think I might vomit the first time I see him in another uni. Well thats foolish then. He is no less a health risk than Harden. Peavy, who we are all dying to get has had arm problems the last two years and many are predicting more for him. This is a money issue. We wasted too much and now it is biting us in the butt. And yes it really sucks.
  3. anaheim to replace krod i really don't want to see him in the NL. i don't know why i'm being such a girl about all of this St Louis. please god, i don't think i could take it I know that one of the predictor, free agent things, sites had him ending up there. That would be just too much. i can't even picture this. i'd probably cheer for him if he struck out the side against us. I wouldn't know what to do. I'll cheer for him. It isn't his fault that Jim Hendry pissed away money on Marquis, Fuku, and Dlee. Money that could of easily allowed us to sign Woody.

  5. If we do win the World Series now I would feel very bad for Woody.

  7. I am glad we can pay Marquis 10 million next year, but don't have the money for Woody. :banghead:
  8. Mayo is clearly at a high level, but I don't see him as above Rose. He'll probably outscore Rose, but not enough to offset everything else Rose does on the basketball court if he simply levels off where he is now. Both will be big time stars in this league. This is looking like an awesome draft year early on. So many youngsters contributing already. Look at Memphis. They're playing competitively, and their starting lineup has nobody with over 1 year of experience coming into this season. I can't believe Eric Gordon isn't doing anything. I can...I expected him to take a little while to be ready to make much of a contribution. I figured Kelvin Sampson would have had him ready to contribute from day one. Seriously though, the Clippers are stupid. I have no doubt he is better than Cuttino Mobely right now. It's the old veteran standby. The Clips think they can compete and aren't going to play a 20 year old excessively to start out. I bet Gordon will be playing a ton by the 30 game mark. Augustin is producing more and faster than I expected. He could easily be starting by midseason if he gets his shooting percentage up. Both Lopezes are effective in limited roles already. Kevin Love has been quite productive so far. I see a lot of Al Horford in Darrell Arthur. Chalmers is showing early signs of being a fine player. Beasley is doing well. Taking wagers on how long until Mike Conley Jr. gets benched. He might be the worst player in basketball so far this season. Also, why hasn't Javaris Crittenton played a single minute this year? I cannot believe how well DA has played. I thought that Rush and Chalmers were the only two real pros from that KU team that would really be impact players. DA has looked great though. Augustin is doing well and I wonder if they will try to move Felton? I thought Love would be pretty good. I also think that Tyler Hansbourogh will do ok in the pros. Too many people get caught up thinking that all white big guys are Will Purdue. They aren't. Memphis has a mess on their hands. But, yeah Conley hasn't developed at all. Might just want to let Mayo run the show.
  9. Best signing day of the Weber era. Hopefully no problems with next years either. Time to start getting some '11 recruits. Come on Mike Shaw.
  10. Truth. He's THAT good. It's unbelievable to me how awesome he is so quickly. Question: When they announce the starting lineups why do they say for him "from Chicago" instead of from where he went to school. I don't know if they've been doing that the entire season but I noticed it tonight. They asked him and he said he wanted to be introduced that way. They've been doing it since the preseason games at U of I. Wow, I figured it was the Bulls call to celebrate the hometown kid.

  13. Does John Manuel have a vote? If so he might have been the guy going against Soto. Since he is the only BA guy who didn't have Geo in his top 50 prospects before this year.
  14. The marlins are ding what they always do. Just selling all their players again.
  15. erm...no. Iowa will improve a bit from a team that won 6 Big Ten games last season. Iowa lost its best player in Freeman. They lost 3 seniors of consequence in Johnson(played 89% of all minutes), Gorney, and Looby. The incoming class is mediocre at best and the 2 sophomores who had serious time last year were horrendous shooters from inside the arc.(Peterson sucked from outside too) They're basically Indiana with Cyrus Tate.(which admittedly is a huge difference, but it still ain't pretty) As manbear said Freeman was not our best player. Highest usage rate, but played out of the system, was not efficient and was by many sources (even before he left) a negative presence. Johnson did nothing after the Indiana game. He was a spot-up shooter who didn't shoot well but his numbers looked good because of what he did in the non-conference and against IU. Looby was almost out of the rotation and when he was getting minutes he contributed NOTHING on offense. Gorney had about 3 decent games. Kelly and Tate were the best players and before injury Cole would have been third. I will make any internet bet with you guys that Iowa has a better record this year both overall and in the Big Ten. Maybe we'll even be as good as Lewis College and can take you to the wire in Champaign. But then again in about the 3rd week you guys both said Iowa football was "awful" "lousy" would be fighting for the bottom of the league. Your disdain for the school clouds your judgment. In our defense, we knew we would be able to beat you in football. We just didn't know how bad we would be in the next week. Win one, lose one, win one.
  16. Don't worry he'll be a Knick or Net soon and we will have to play him 2 less times a year. Trying to look for a positive.
  17. I assumed Taber would start. This is going to be an interesting year for an IU hater like myself. I'd put the over/under at 2.5 for Big 10 wins. He's currently hurt. That was the lineup that started Friday's exhibition game. Taber is almost certainly a starter when healthy; I also would guess that you'll see multiple starting lineups throughout the season. They won't win many, but think the over is the best bet there. I don't see who they could beat. Maybe 1 fluke win. I'll take the under.
  18. and then 34 in the third ... wtf The joys of a young team with some talented scorers.
  19. Drew Gooden would be such a good player if he just had that little voice in his head that screamed, "HEY DUMMY, YOU AREN'T A POINT GUARD!" or "QUIT SHOOTING THE 17 FOOTER WHEN YOUR RANGE IS ONLY 13!"
  20. Threeways are hard as hell to get going. Especially convincing the wife to make it work... Oh. Not THAT kind of a threeway. Heh. #-o I hear the after part is the hard part when your wife is involved.
  21. Or possibly as a fall back to Peavy, I know Olsen isn't nearly the pitcher he is, but he is young and can still improve, he can eat up innings on a young staff and develop into a decent pitcher when they contend in 2-4 years. Agreed, he would be a good add on his own.
  22. Sounds like the Braves are talking to the Marlins about Olsen according to mlbtraderumors, maybe they are trying to get a threeway going.
  23. And even if it does it involve Josh it will go from amazing to completely fair. I think one thing is for sure, if Peavy didn't have that NTC we would be completely screwed. Probably not fair, but at least in the ballpark. Vitters is highly thought of, we get Peavy and get to keep him and we get away with robbery.
