  1. Doing thing the right way Tom Crean took Nick Williams from Marquette. i WILL say this about self, he didn't take any previously committed recruits with him to ku. charlie villanueva ended up decommitting and going elsewhere. my big problem with the whole mess is that we paid him for 3 years to build recruiting inroads for kansas in chicago. i guess that's the way things work, but it pisses me off that the state of illinois funded his national championship at another school. c'est la vie. i'm a cub fan, too. He tried to get CV to go with him. CV worked out here and was abused by Nick Collison, which makes sense as Nick was about to be a lotto pick. CV said that the fans here were pretty brutal on him and then UCONN offered. I remember Whitlock ran an article about it. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-7324110.html There's a reference to it, can't find the Whitlock one though.
  2. It went to hell before that. He posts a 6.75 ERA in 4 relief innings in Peoria and ends up back in extended. No reason a first round pick can't stick in low-A ball in his second full season in the system. cough Josh Vitters cough. So it's your belief that Vitters will be sent to extended spring training this year? God I hope not. But, I wouldn't be suprised at this point. Our draft picks haven't had the most luck. I misread.

  4. I thought you were already over on scholarships?
  5. How great is UNC if you take away Dean Smith? How great is Duke if you take out Coach K? How great is Kentucky if you take out Coach Rupp? How great is UCLA without Wooden? How good is Kansas without cheating?(sorry, had to put that in there) Did you read my post beyond the first sentence, or were you that anxious to make the dig on Kansas? Did you even read my post or were you just that anxious to get that dig in on me. Coaches make programs. Why the hell would IU be any different? It's the reason KU wanted Self and not just to promote an assistant. Also how long was Knight at IU? 30 years. Yeah I imagine you take away the 30 best years from any school and they probably wouldn't have near the same results. Really not all that hard a thing to figure out. And the Kansas thing, while a dig, is very true. Find me another school who has won a title while on probation. Then after you do that, find the other schools who have won a title, then went directly on probation afterwards. But, that's probably just picking on the Jayhawks. You are so bitter that our program blows the doors off of yours. Sorry dude. Maybe you'll pick up another Final Four in the next fifteen years. Yep, but what part that I put was not a fact??
  6. Damn straight, although I was pretty young at the time he was there so I don't begrudge him that much. Kruger on the other hand.
  7. Rajai Davis and Nyjer Morgan cuertainly would have to join that family. Willie Wilson fathered them all and Ced Landrum is a distant cousin. Dont forget their distant white cousin Scotty Pods Tom Goodwin is just a distant cousin. What about Curtis?

  10. Am I the only one thinking that Curry will have a hard time getting on the court at Duke?
  11. Not everyone has to get married. As long as he isn't hurting anyone else, who cares if he drinks everyday? probably the employer that is paying him millions of dollars a year, since he's also a very public face for that employer. and i know it's cool for people in their 20s to say "gettin drunk and gettin laid, what's wrong with that"... but if you're still living that life in your late 40s, you're kind of a creep. I get why Kentucky would take issue with it, but personally don't care how he chooses to live his life. He wants to drink and chase skirt, it's his life.

  13. Well, they just fired Tubby Smith. Well not really he left before they could. But, they wanted him out because he wasn't getting talent in there. How in two years should Gillespie have been able to turn that around? JOhn Wooden wouldn't have won a ton with the Kentucky team there now. What about John Wooden plus that guy that paid everyone. Kentucky had one contributing player that BCG brought in. He has been a disaster. And he STILL deserved more than 2 years. Yes even with the guy who bought all the plaers, it still would have taken a couple of years to get the type of team he wants in place.
  14. Maybe as a backup. I just don't think he's that good. EDIT: Is he really only 6-4? I always thought he was a 6-7 or 6-8 guy playing power forward. Now I really don't think he'll do anything in the NBA. He's a lottery pick. Really... is this sarcasm? I always thought of him as an undersized power forward. Is there any possible way he can play the two in the NBA? Cause there's not a chance in hell he's big enough for the three to guard guys like LeBron, Pierce and Carmelo. Hell, I'm not even sure he could guard a good two guard either. you say this like you've seen him play, yet you were four inches off in your scouting report look, no one can guard a good 2 in the nba... it's the nba henderson isn't going to be great, or likely even good, but it's a weak draft and he has some talent I know I addressed the lottery pick post but I'm speaking more along the lines of how much he'll do in the NBA. Adam Morrison (No. 3) and JJ Redick (No. 11) were also lottery picks and look at what they've done, especially Morrison. I was exaggerating a bit in my earlier post about him playing in the D-League or in Europe, but there's not a chance he can be a starter. I'm sure he can play some minutes as a backup on a team like Memphis or the Clippers but athleticism only gets you so far. Morrison got hurt. That's really not a fair comparison. Reddick was a product of the hype machine that is ESPN. Anyone who thought that he was good enough to be a lottery pick should be drug tested.

How in two years should Gillespie have been able to turn that around? JOhn Wooden wouldn't have won a ton with the Kentucky team there now. Isn't college basketball all about the young-uns? 2 years seems like plenty of time to bring in 2 or 3 difference makers that will change a program. Only if you land DRose or Michael Beasley. Hell even with Eric Gordon and Michael Beasley both of their teams got beat out right away in the tournament. You need 4 years to build a program into what you want it to be. This would be very foolish.

  17. From what I've heard, it's almost as much based on off the floor stuff than actual performance. Though missing the tourney for the first time in forever certainly doesn't help. They knew about the drinking before they hired him. Is there something else?
  18. WTF? Kentucky is really going to fire Gillespie. He's been there two years.
  19. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/edstevensiscool/tisdaledollabills.jpg Might wanna be able to score in your last two games before you get thinking too much about Bill Selfs there Tizzy. He's going to eat Bubba Chisholm in the offseason to put on weight. CJ Jackson gave him the idea following the mysterious disappearance of Steve Holdren. It's really not a bad plan.
  20. The Rockies game caused Ron to cuss when Ricky fell. He then apologized. Listening at work I had no idea what was going on.

  22. He'd be fine if he could play the 1 in the NBA. I don't think he can. I think he is too much of a scorer to suddenly turn into a pass first point guard. Plus I think he is way too small and not super quick. I just can't see him guarding a Chris Paul or Deron Williams. I think if he goes lottery, somebodies going to be very unhappy with him. But, he has the one skill that's always important.
  23. I was an Illini fan who wanted to see him in orange but, after seeing play I'm glad he's not. He doesn't appear capable of much more than hanging around the perimeter looking for a three. Then there's flopping (I believe that's more a Duke teaching), faces and sounds don't know if I could have put up with that from someone as one dimensional as Scheyer. Scheyer is not one dimensional. You can't really judge a player by his worst game of the season (same goes for Henderson). Agreed. Scheyer actually had to run the point for a good majority of this year. I make not like the kid, but he can play.
  24. Henderson is also super athletic. He'll definately play in the NBA. Raisin is also right, no one can guard a good NBA 2 guard. The guy who I think has his work cut out for him to even see the court is Steph Curry.
  25. Coach K did a great job again this year. Hopefully next year he can finally bring in some talent. Maybe a McDonalds All-American or 8?
