  1. me too. and of course that ball hooked the well.
  2. Agreed. I would love us to make a much bigger commitment to some defense this offseason. Which will require getting rid of Soriano or Bradley and moving Riot to 2nd...as a start at least. Maybe one of those three will happen if lucky Frankly, even if we made the commitment to defense, it would most likely make our already beleaguered offense even worse. This team should be scoring more runs than it has this season, but for various reasons, it simply has not done that. If we could improve both, that'd be great, but I don't see many options out there who would fit that bill. Even worse, I could see Hendry targeting someone with a great defensive reputation who in reality isn't that great at defense anymore and doesn't offer much offensively. Come on, Hendry's never done anything like that. In a totally unrelated story, Cesar Izturis is still collecting a paycheck. Well he should be he gloves in runs.
  3. I agree, but if you get a defensive-minded SS to take over for Theriot with Theriot moving to 2B, you'd basically be shifting the offensive black hole from 2B to SS. Heck, depending on who you get, you might even create an even bigger black hole of suck at SS than what we have at 2B now. I think you gotta go get a great glove short and live with whatever he hits. Let him hit 8th.

If we could improve both, that'd be great, but I don't see many options out there who would fit that bill. I get that in the outfield, but Theriot cannot play short. With the blackhole we have had at 2nd, stick him there and play anyone at SS.
  5. went to take a piss, what did I miss this time? Some sweet outfield play from our 18 million dollar left fielder.
  6. My big thing is our guys who aren't hitting can't catch the ball. Half of us can play the outfield better than Soriano.
  7. We're still watching this game right? How much more true-blue can we get here? I'm not wearing plants. When you do, do you go with grass skirts? Na, I'm allergic to grass. I generally use some kind of animal hyde.

  9. Why was everyone a Ryne Sandberg fan? Andre Dawson was the shiznit.
  10. I do, but I don't. It's still just a game. He's taking this too seriously.
  11. Read back to some older Game Threads and you'll see we used to be ra-ra and optimistic. At this point, like someone above said, a lot of us feel this is a realistic approach to take with this team based on what they've shown us since April. OK, I see your point. They suck. They're always going to suck. I'll get with the program. You don't have to get with any program, feel free to feel however you do about the Cubs. But you might want to consider stop acting like such a jerk. The Cubs are mediocre. They've been mediocre all year and probably have to make significant changes to not be mediocre next year. I'll reserve judgement about future teams when they get here. That's right, jump down my throat because I still cheer for them. Hey, I came here because I thought it was a place where people rooted for the Cubs, not ripped them at every opportunity. My mistake. It's not that we don't all want this year to end with a parade, it's just we all know it isn't going to. Trust me you should have been here last year. I think it really changed how a lot of us view this team.
  12. Oh come on. He runs the bases poorly, has no power, plays an awful shortstop, and swings at the rosen bag, but really he doesn't suck. He's more gritty.
  13. Start hitting better then Ted. Why would they afford him what they don't the other starters?
  14. I like Milt and all, but it's hard to find good big league chew. Are we talking grape? throw in Miles and we could be talking Watermelon. Why would we trade away the player who best sums up our season? Miles isn't going anywhere. Thank god. Do you realize we almost lost out on him to the Cardinals. Now that would have been a catastrophe.

  16. I like Milt and all, but it's hard to find good big league chew. Are we talking grape? Only 1 pack of grape. The other is bubble gum. Eh don't do it then. Now if it was one grape one sour apple you gotta jump on that.

  18. In 3 abs he seen about usually what Kosuke would have in one.
  19. Probably not, since Soriano would kill him. Zambrano might. please they wouldnt mess with Lilly. Hed make a lamp out of Sorianos skull Not a chance. I imagine he would hit Lilly harder than he has any ball this year. Unless Ted stayed low and away.
  20. Probably not, since Soriano would kill him. Zambrano might.
  21. I almost keep hoping this is a nightmare and I will wake up and it will be opening day again. And our guys won't have forgotten how to play. i dont want more baseball for a long time. I do, I want last year back. It was amazing.
  22. at least you have the chance to buy it. Stupid Dish Network Yeah it is still pretty awesome. I work graveyard shift, so on my days off I love the West Coast games. So many good young, players.
