  1. I mean, you can agree to disagree if you want, but you're definitely wrong. Most everyone here would be very unlikely to go 1-25. The only hope many of us would have would be drawing walks or guessing the exact location for a straight fastball or changeup. I guarantee the vast majority of people here would be struck out on three pitches literally every time by major league breaking pitches. Assume though your first at bat the pitcher doesn't know that. You might get a fastball. Just guess the right spot and you got a shot to tie him.
  2. He walked on the 22nd. He's 1 for 25 with a .231 OPS since coming off the DL. Bwahahaha. Seriously couldn't anyone of the posters on here do that? Seriously. Any person here could go 1 for 25. Just bunt everytime and try to beat out the throw or swing at every pitch you see. Considering how many pitches you would see over the course of 25 at-bats, you're bound to make contact on one of them and hit it through a hole somwhere. Heck, I'd rather have Billy Crystal on this team right now than Aaron Miles. Aaron Miles is a horrendous ballplayer, but you're way off thinking every person here could go 1 for 25. Especially if all they did was (try to) bunt. I was thinking more along the lines of beating his on base percentage. You could probably walk a few of those times.

  4. I never said he was great. My point is he hasn't been nearly as bad as he could have been, which, given this team's position, is kind of a bright spot. touche. It's been a fun year.
  5. How deep a bench would we have to have to not let that little stain get in?
  6. Fukudome took a pretty big step forward. And Dempster wasn't nearly as bad as he could have been. Dempster's ERA Plus is worse than Z's. I am so tired of him getting a pass from people. But he hasn't been nearly as bad as he could have been. He's been a bit more hittable, but not anymore wild, than last year. His last 30 start season before last year his WHIP was over 1.5 and ERA over 5. Great so he hasn't pooped allover himself. He still hasn't been all that great. Not like we paid him. Not like the local media paints him out to be. We get articles about cutting Z. Yet Demp has had the same type year.
  7. I pay $200 a bucks a year now as it is just to watch the Cubs. I'd be all over just getting that waved.
  8. Fukudome took a pretty big step forward. And Dempster wasn't nearly as bad as he could have been. Dempster's ERA Plus is worse than Z's. I am so tired of him getting a pass from people. Fangraphs has him with a 4.13 FIP before today, worth 10.6 million by WAR. I stand corrected. I thought ERA plus was the big one for pitchers though?
  9. take a breath, freak I suppose you're in the "let him make $18 million to OPS .720" crowd. Let's hope Tom Ricketts can see a sunk cost a bit better. No, god, I'd dump him for a bag of balls if it was possible. I'm taking about the "LET'S MAKE HIM MISERABLE" garbage. Plus Alf is too cool to be miserable. He'd just make it rain on Milton in the dugout.

  11. Fuku Id say Jeff Baker has been pretty good since coming over, and Id welcome him back on the team next year as a bench bat. Jake Fox as well. He's been pretty good.
  12. and the girl in the third row above the first base side :D We've always got that going for us.
  13. Good call on the Kosuke front. Spaced on him.
  14. So basically for bright spots this year Randy Wells Derrek Lee Angel Guzman Ted Lilly That about cover it?
  15. The only thing dumber than the contracts he hands out would be walking away from his own guaranteed contract. So you're saying there's a chance?
  16. No Bob, that was an awful send. Just awful.
  17. And another circus catch against us.
  18. Wild pitchers at that. Luckily we don't really need to walk....
  19. No warnings given. Soriano sure does suck. That will be the one at bat this game where he won't hit a lazy flyball.
  20. I suppose. I think it's more in-depth than strictly a numbers thing. Generally speaking when both are hitting how I expect them to I think Theriot works a better count, is more versatile in terms of hitting the balls the other way/bunts, draws more walks and yes he does have a higher average. Soriano's power potential obviously makes up for his deficiencies in areas that Theriot is better. But as far a better hitter, with how I view the term, it's Theriot for me Theriot sees less pitches per plate appearance.
