  1. Bobby Scales is proving how bad Jake Fox would kill us with his defense.
  2. Why wouldn't he call that one an error. It was in his glove. That's a catch you have to make.
  3. That play could pretty much some up our seasons.
  4. Of course we come in to St. Louis and can't score.
  5. Gotta go with Dennis Quade. he's pitched in the bigs and he's won a National title while helping break down racial lines. He's our man for player manager. How about James Gammon? In 1989, he took a rag tag bunch of misfits and made them into a contender. imagine what he could do with this kind of payroll. Of course we might need to sign Tom Berenger as a club house leader, and even back then, he looked like he was toward the end of his career. I want Shark nowhere near a major league mound, at least for the Cubs until he proves he can do something other than give up runs at a comical rate. As for Marmol, hes actually been steller in actual save situations since he became the closer. I don't know if the whole naked owner thing will work with Ricketts though.

  7. All these posts make too much sense. You gotta Jim Hendry it. Smash your head into a wall a few thousand times and then see what you come up with. Oh and Aaron Miles will be on the team. Can't admit we screwed the pooch on that signing.
  8. It's not that it's worthless, it's that it's not of much use when trying to predict what a player is capable of doing in the future. A guy with 100 RBI this season with two guys with .400 OBPs hitting ahead of him may drive in 50 runs with two guys posting .250 OBPs in front of him next year. Unlike rate stats (OBP, SLG, OPS, EqA, etc), RBI is very dependent on the rest of the lineup, not just the individual player. For that reason, you can't use RBI to reliably predict a player's future production. I never said you could i'm just sick of some of the people on here defending Bradley and his OBP that say he's been productive; Bradley is being paid $10 million a year to drive in runs, not get on base, and he's been an epic failure in my opinion That post is an epic failure. So explain to me how a guy batting barely .200 with RISP is having a good season? he's had plenty of chances to get runs home and has not produced; i will give you that the OBP has been good but is it worth 10 million? Since the main focus in baseball is not making an out, yes I think his OBP is pretty valuable.
  9. Removing Bradley will improve the team also Yep, nothing like getting rid of the guy who is the best at not making outs. That will help a ton. :banghead: :banghead:
  10. He's shown that he can stay healthy this year. Made 30 starts. I imagine he's looking for a long term contract and won't take arbitration. But, we gotta save that $10 million for Chone Figgins.
  11. Once we get rid of Z and Milton, then let Harden walk without offering arbitration, we are looking at a 74 win season. Or worse. Yeah, let's not do that stuff.
  12. I don't get how anyone could think Jim Hendry sticking around is a good thing. He has no idea what he's doing.
  13. Wow.So Im guessing the 5th starter comes down to Marhshall and Gorzalanny, with the ever intriguing Thomas Diamond as the dark horse. What exactly is the risk. Hendry is just awful. If he accepts then we have a good pitcher for one more year, if not we get two draft picks. Why doesn't Jim have any level of accountability?
  14. Probably, I guess Sean has more value out of the pen since he is lefthanded.
  15. I like that you type this after today, and have previously said nothing like this. ok? i've hardly paid attention to the cubs the past month. i shouldn't say he will suck... i guess he might be your typical #5 but i don't think he will be better than that. although i did just arrive at this after watching him pitch four innings poorly, so what do i know. Wells is neither the pitcher he was for the majority of the summer, nor is he the pitcher of the last two starts. He is likely going to fall somewhere in between and probably end up similar to a Marquis type pitcher So worse than Marshall then?
  16. Yep, thought that was gonna get down.
  17. You don't remember him from the two months with us when he didn't hit the ball out of the infield?
  18. We have a team full of choke artists. As soon as we get back to the point of it mattering again we get these last two starts from our staff.
  19. I don't know why but even the most simple thing like sliding makes Ryan Braun seem like a dbag to me.
