  1. bruce is getting real good at teaching life lessons, notsomuch at coaching basketball. he needs to remember who his big recruits are and play them or risk losing any in the future. Yeah, gave Jordan a big hug when he subbed out. Didn't even talk to Paul. One is a top40 player in his class and a future pro. The other is an awful basketball player. Of course Bruce is tight with the crappy one. oh, good lord. Yep being able to identify with and relate to talented kids isn't important for a college basketball coach. At all.

Brandon Paul started today. And DJ is obviously responding well to this. Right, obviously because he is shooting well. D.J. has always brought good energy. Weber's a fool that likes to play short one guy on offense. This year is is Jeff.

  4. Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson aren't starting. Unreal.
  5. Robbie Hummel is at least ten times the player that Chester Fraizer is. The myth of Chester Frazier is unreal. Chester was a big part of the record the past few years. Having a point guard who could shoot a bit and we are a lot better. You trying to say Hummell couldn't have helped Purdue overcome a 40 point loss last year? And the whole part about Hummell playing 39 minutes in the first game? AT PURDUE? I have no clue how you reconcile last year's season with your belief that everyone on the team (except DMac) was garbage. How do you explain that we're so much worse this year with a point guard who can shoot the ball? EDIT: Snipped some stuff that will just cause the thread to run off track (further) Again when did I say they were garbage? They are good role players. Role players. Still have value, but aren't the type of guyswho should be starting if we have dreams of being a national competitor like we were at the start of this decade. The only guy on last years team that would have seen minutes on one of Self's teams while here was DMac and maybe Mike Davis, this year. That's a problem.

  7. This is more what I am getting at. We should never be as bad as we have been these past few years in bball. The guy who lead the team to that point should be fired, instead we gave him a raise and extension.
  8. Again I don't think that DMac is a role player. I think he is a really good player. I think we had one really good player surrounded by role players. We were a 5 seed because we caught Purdue twice when Hummel was hurt and because our precon schedule was crap.
  9. But, he's still not producing. How many years do we go between Tournament wins before we decide that enough is enough? So if Chester Frazier doesn't get hurt in practice last year you don't think Weber should be fired? I think Chester Frazier is a role player at best. I don't think he guaranteed crap against WKU last year. You don't think missing your senior leader and best defender makes up a 4 point difference? Do you think anybody on the team last year was any good? Yes I think DMac is a really good player stuck playing out of position because we haven't recruited a point guard in the Bruce era. Although Abrams might change that. Mike Davis had a good year, but still has yet to develop a single post move. Tisdale is a good player that would be a role player on most teams. I'm sorry but after the Kruger and Self eras, it's hard for me to get to excited about barely squeaking into the top 25 and then laying yet another egg in a tournament game.
  10. And Paul didn't make a shot in the last 17 minutes of gameplay. How did he keep us in the game? His tip dunk was much later than 3 minutes in to the game. He also knocked down two free throws. But, more importantly he was the guy who started taking the ball to the hole and changed our offense from just passing it around to one that actually had to be guarded.

  13. Yeah he's killed it without Self's recruits. Killed it. Barring a 12-6 conference record he's gonna miss the tournament for the 2nd time in 3 years. Badass. Yeah, it's not as if two of the most important players on this team are freshman that are struggling on defense, and that this team's main problem is defensive. Other than the team being bad defensively, though, you're right, it's exactly like those other Weber disappointments, like the 2nd place team from a year ago that everyone expected to finish first. Yeah he did well last year. I think it was because the Big Ten was awful, but ok last year he did well. How bout the three years before? He under achieved in all of them. How exactly was the Big Ten awful last year? 7 teams in the tourney, collectively playing above seed is awful? Losing a 5-12 game without your senior leader and best defender ruined the whole season for you? Last year's coaching job was phenomenal. The year before was terrible. I'd argue that the team performed about as well as expected in '05-'06 and '06-'07. You know as well as I that they were screwed in both their seeding and location in '06. (Supposedly "punishment" for the great draw we had in '05. Let me know when UNC gets "punished" for playing games close to home when they earn it) Then they got dicked over in the 4-5 game's officiating. '06-'07 choked away a big lead in the tourney and left a really bitter taste in my mouth but it was a team that lost a starter and a contributing bench player(through at least one of their's utter stupidity) If you want to argue that he botched the handling of Jamar, that's reasonable. If you want to argue that the program never should've sunk as low as it did, that's certainly reasonable. Arguing that he needs to go 14 games into a season following getting a 5 seed and 2nd place in a deep Big Ten out of 3 star recruits is not. The issue with Weber during those dark days was an extreme downturn in recruiting. He's turned it around, and now has 2 freshmen and a preferred walk on playing huge roles on the team. That's not to say that's not his fault, but as I said he's turned it around. He did exactly what you wanted of him on Saturday, had Paul out there and Paul acted like a freshman and took a terrible shot. It's going to happen. Am I disappointed about how the season is unfolding? Of course I am. I'm the psycho screaming obscenities at the TV with every turnover, but I have a hard time seeing the case for running Weber out of town at this point. Paul kept us in that game with Keller. THe last second shot was terrible, but he had to shoot. As for Bruce, he got a raise and extension and that just really bothers me. Everyone is all oh now the recruits are coming, Gee and it only took 7 years on the job training to get to that point.

  15. So if they go 10-8, you don't think they'll make it? I'd be willing to bet you're wrong. 3 non-con wins over ranked teams will go a long way to getting in. The losses may hurt, but really only 2 of them are bad and none at home. When was the last time a team with good non-con wins and winning record in the B10 didn't go to the dance? I do feel your frustration though. The complete inability to get a shot at the end of a game is really getting old. I hope that gets them in, but I doubt it. They need 12 to get to 20. 20 is pretty much going to be a given with our bad losses.
  16. We are about to have one tournament win the the last 5 years. Same could probably be said for Bruce Weber. facepalm I mean, all Weber has ever done at Illinois is underachieve... Yeah he's killed it without Self's recruits. Killed it. Barring a 12-6 conference record he's gonna miss the tournament for the 2nd time in 3 years. Badass.

  18. Gotcha. but you should be happy MJ took a couple years off. Let you get a couple titles.
  19. Because it wouldn't have mattered. When was the last time you saw them run something decent at the end of a game whether they took a TO or not? The McBride game against Penn St. that was waved off? One of Weber's weaknesses is drawing up a last second play. Or at least his weakness is getting kids to execute his plays.
  20. You prefer that a guy punches somebody in the face while lying on top of him rather than say hi before the game? It wasn't passion it was a punk "coached" by a slimeball being a douchebag. Bledsoe couldn't even calm himself down enough to stay in the game for 15 seconds. The Kentucky program is an embarrassment to college basketball and has been for most of its existence. Yeah Calipari and his act are very tired.
  21. How does he not get that call in this building?
  22. How do you leave Boldin open on that three?
  23. We really need this for our tourney chances.
