  1. From what I saw, I was not very impressed with Barlow.
  2. D.J. was also frosh of the year with Crawford in the Coaches. Good to see since Crawford was awful down the stretch.
  3. Surprise? No way did Cal bend the rules. I refuse to believe that.
  4. http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/5367/behold-the-96-team-field It's the NCAA's goal to ruin the best thing in sports.
  5. I realize that, but he is living in some alternate universe. Has been since the mid '90's when he quit being good and started being a ptper. Once upon a time (a long time ago) I enjoyed Vitale. He's become a caricature of himself, though. Agreed, one of my friends had a ton of games from the '80's taped. We watched them one weekend before the selection show. It was amazing how good a game he called. I cannot believe what happened to him.

  7. Yeah he is the Dusty Baker of college basketball. Leonard is the best big man to come into the program since Cook and will struggle to get tick. Weber really frustrates me. I don't want Leonard playing thirty minutes a game but he should get more time than Griffey got this season. I'd like to see a starting five next year of: McCamey, Richardson, Richmond, Griffey, and Tisdale. With a bench of: Cole, Leonard, Davis, Paul, Bertrand, Head I don't think Crandall is getting much time at all next year. Leonard's going to struggle to get playing time because he's a freshman big man, and they usually struggle making the jump. That and there'll be 2 seniors who started the previous 2 seasons ahead of him. I think this is the wrong season to be complaining that Weber won't play young guys. He pushed Griffey ahead of the senior Keller on the depth chart. He started the year with 2 freshman in the backcourt, and DJ has been there all season. Paul started the first half and got out of control, and hasn't really earned his minutes back, though it does seem he's been getting increased minutes of late. The only complaints I have with minutes this year is Griffey should be getting more in the hopes of developing more. That and I wish Jeff Jordan would quit again this offseason.
  8. I think Weber's tried that strategy quite a few times with DMac, it's not like he's constantly undressing him on TV, if he were, that'd be an issue. Doing it once during what is the biggest game of the season for you is fine by me. Pretty much everytime he is interviewed he has taken shots at McCamey. When he was interviewed by the Big Ten Network by Kendall Gill about turning the corner, he said he's better but he won't ever compliment him cause he just reverts back. He also always takes pop shots at him on his defense. Always. This is hardly the first time that Weber has called McCamey out.
  9. Plus we would need every single torunament to go as planned. We need two wins to get in, imo. I can't see us beating a full strength Wisky team. That's the biggest problem. Even if we beat Wisky the bubble is going to shrink too much. Real sad to think our season was determined in a high school gym in Las Vegas. The Bradley game that I watched online was a joke. I didn't get to see the Utah one, had to work. The Bradley game was probably one of the worst coaching jobs I've ever seen. Hey we have a 5 point lead with 3 minutes to go. Let's run the clock out. That worked out about as well as one would expect.

  11. The Nets won't be in Brooklyn for a while, and nobody really knows how great that market is going to be if/when it opens. The Nets are playing in the Prudential Center next year, a nice hockey arena, but a hockey arena first and foremost in a completely dead Newark. There's a dream of some idyllic Brooklyn situation, but that's a long way off, and it could be a big risk to sign with a team with zero fans, zero media interest that is going to play in a hockey arena in Newark, NJ. They are a lesser "little brother" than the Clippers. If the Nets end up with the first pick I et Cal ends up there as well. Another enticing reason for LeBron to go. Since he seems to love Cal now.
  12. I agree with a lot of that. I will just put out there though if he messes with Jereme we are done getting 5 stars players to come here. 5 stars don't sit behind Bill Cole.

DMac, D.J. Cole, Davis, Tisdale. I also bet it's a very interesting year as I imagine that Jereme will react very well to sitting and watching Bill Cole play.
  14. I don't know about that. I'm sure he'd rather make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year overseas than be the whipping boy. Was it his fault Tisdale dropped two great passes from him that should of been dunks, or that Davis airballed an open 10 footer when we were surging and back within 5? Once that happened DMac forced a bad shot, but I can understand why he's frustrated with the lack of talent around him. It's like a broken record, depth and talent. The two things missing from this team. I just hope that Leonard grabs a significant portion of the front court minutes next year because Davis has looked awful this year. I just don't see it. Weber usually plays the older player over the young guys when he has an option to do so.
  15. And their next six are against Utah, Orlando, Miami, Memphis, Dallas and Cleveland. Better beat Memphis.

  17. He shot a crappy shot at a horrible time. Weber pulled him. He walked to the bench during the timeout and Weber grabbed him and yelled at him. Its hard to tell if DMac was pushing through him or just going to the bench. Either way I was hoping the 45 year old man would wait and handle it in private, but instead he was busy making a scapegoat out of his best player. To be fair, DMac was playing like an idiot. He was throwing crap up there, and after the shot in question, he outright mugged the Wisky player with the ball and compounded it. It wasn't just that one sequence, either, but a good chunk of the second half that DMac was playing with his head up his ass. I don't see where Weber was that out of line. I am not happy with how things have been going, but it seems like you want Bruce to coddle these kids. I am not a big Weber fan, but it's not a head coach's job to pamper and massage egos. I don't want him to coddle him, I want him to wait until after the game is over and they've stopped filming, and then rip him a new one. I didn't like how he did it for the world to see.
  18. Is this a serious question? Frank Martin did a similar act and was repremanded for it. You can't put your hands on a kid.

  20. I agree. I don't get why so many of our fans are ok with the crap we have. The world isn't black and white. Just because I'm not saying that the program is laying in waste doesn't mean I'm happy right now. Come on Tim, how can anyone say that Zook has done worse than Weber given what they both inherited? Zook was given crap and he has improved the program, not much, but still improved it. Who can argue Weber did the same in basketball?
  21. I don't disagree. I am not satisfied with where we are at or have been the past few years. I do disagree about the program being in a state of "shambles" right now. Indiana has been in a shambles. Illinois is far from that point. Ok not shambles, we are in purgatory. Just good enough that people aren't screaming for our bafoon coach to be fired. That better?
  22. I agree. I don't get why so many of our fans are ok with the crap we have.
  23. We are in shambles. Yet? You got us beating Wisky on a neutral court? I don't. As for next year. The team's gonna be similar. We will add Jereme, who should contribute from day one. Meyers is gonna be behind both Mike's and Tyler. Tyler can hardly get on the court now. I don't expect anything from Crandall coming off a serious injury for at least another year. And to make matters worse after the crap that went down today, I see no way that Dmac comes back. Weber showed him up on national tv. Name me any other coach that does that?
  24. No. It's really not. Which one took over a top 10 type team and ran it into the ground? Which one took over a program and shambles and gave a good year, then returned to shambles? I see you're a fan of hyperbole. Well kind of, but really what I am saying is pretty damn close to truth. Missing the tournament 2 of 3 years at Illinois is amazing. In fact besides when we were on probation, thank Bruce Pearl, we haven't had it happen forever. In fact I would almost say that Weber hurt Illinois basketball more than Pearl. Almost.
