  1. Mark Prior was pretty big. and he got hit on the elbow with a line drive, his pitching elbow, just when he looked like he was putting it together. his [expletive] pitching elbow I'm aware, but he wasn't a prospect then. I just meant we had a stud of that caliber. Hell Wood was pretty big as well. well, if something both terrible and freakishly rare happens to heyward, i'll admit that fate doesn't have a penis, unlike voltron. You lucky bastage. You know voltron's gonna rake in the girls.
  2. Eddie Vedder is a freaking liar. Unless all the way is code for lose painfully.

  4. Jurrjens then Hanson, we messed up by losing today.
  5. Congrats, Duke was a lot better than I thought his year.
  6. Yeah, we might run out of the fire before August. by august we might be at 3-page game threads with fred contributing 90% of the posts. Ah the 90's.
  7. yes. It's one day. And you don't change your projection about the team for one day. But that doesn't mean every time you fall back a game, your chances don't lower a little. Right, I understand. I just don't feel the need to get that worked up about it after one game. Especially since I don't think we are beating anyone all that good this year anyways. Would love to be wrong though. Were also about to be a game behind the Pirates. Good for Jake.
  8. because most organizations don't waste $10m on wide receivers? samardzija got one of the biggest contracts awarded to players in the amateur draft. sometimes the cubs are unlucky but usually managment just does [expletive] things that predictably blows up in their face. What did Strasberg get? 4 years, $15.1M major league contract. the thing is, you compare samardzija's contract to guys who were legitimately great players in college: pedro alvarez: 4 years, $6.4M major league contract matt wieters: $6M bonus strasburg: 4 years, $15.1M major league contract david price: 6 years, $8.5M major league contract mark teixeira: 4 years, $9.5M major league contract mark prior: 4 or 5 years, $10.5M major league contract evan longoria: $3M bonus it makes no sense whatsoever. these were guys who were great college hitters and pitchers; samardzija got as much or more money than most of them even though he was an unpolished guy who didn't have particularly good numbers in college, and there were serious questions as to whether he would even develop the secondary stuff to be a starter. it's just an incredibly stupid decision and a massive waste of resources. Oh I agree, thanks for looking all of those up.
  9. I hope Bob Huggins makes out with all of them. What the hell man? Maybe it's because there's too many Cubs fans like you that God hates us. Calm down. It was a joke.

Technically they only spent like $750,000 on him out of the draft. He was already a pro when they gave him the big deal. so he had already started sucking, even better.
  12. Has a team ever came from one back after one game to win it all? Yes. But the odds are a little lower than if they weren't a game back. It's one day. And as you like to point about our aging guys being injury prone, so is Chris Carpenter. Ok maybe not you, but this board.

  15. We just came from spring training, if they didn't learn to do it then, I doubt they are going to now.
  16. I fear letting Jim make a move that will help for this year.
  17. I send him cigs each week as thanks for his crime.
  18. When someone knocks on your door and offers you a huge pile of money everyone else knows you don't deserve, you aren't a thief. Yeah, I'm thinking everyone of us would have taken it.
  19. There's a 0% chance you would be complaining if either you were a Braves fan or if Heyward was on the Cubs. I hated when ESPN jocked MJ. No, wait, you're right that was pretty awesome.
  20. He was Jim's prize for Sammy though. Can't get rid of him.
