  1. For the most part the only people who are going to post about the NIT are going to be Illini fans. You guys would likely takeover the overall March Madness thread which is pretty universally about people's brackets and THE tournament. You guys would likely annoy the rest of us with the drama of Illini's games and we would annoy you by responding to them. This way you guys can post away from that and not be bothered. It's a win-win. You are a real piece of work. God forbid you be annoyed by our fandom.
  2. I don't get the need for another thread, but ok.
  3. Mike Davis is gonna get a triple double tonight. That has to be at least 7 turnovers.
  4. I'm pretty sure David Lighty can jump higher than Bryan Dougher. I'm betting he can as well. I would have rather had a forced shot though than what we got.
  5. I wish DMac would have just forced that same shot against OSU.
  6. cirque du soleil (sp?) is at Illinois. Too bad they were tearing up Huff gym. It would have been cool to have the game in there.
  7. Yeah, most peoples probably were.
  8. I don't really care if we win, I just wanna see us use this to build for next year. I wanna see a lot of minutes for Paul and Griffey. I don't want a lot of minutes for Cole and Jordan. They aren't gonna be what turns this around.
  9. Most of them are in their mid 40's now, so maybe.
  10. What does any of that mean? We had a better record head to head than Wisky, beat them there handily. Had a better non conference schedule with better wins, are we better than them? First, Illinois absolutely, positively did not have better wins non-conference than Wisconsin. That's another dream world. Second, Wisconsin had a better overall record, better Big Ten record, etc. than Illinois. That's was not the case with Michigan State and Purdue with Hummel. Records and head-to-head wins aren't dispositive, obviously. However, I see no objective calculus that shows Michigan State is better than Purdue with Hummel. I'm no Purdue fan, but they were clearly better. Hell, Purdue sans Hummel still got a better seed than Michigan State. We had pretty good ones. Who did they beat besides Duke?
  11. OK what I found out is RSCI Class of '07: D.M. 71,M.T. 151, B.C. 185, M.D. 239 Class of '08: S.S. NR Class of '09: D.J.R. 35, B.P 49, T.G. 92, J.B. 94 Class of '10 J.R. 18, M.L. 36, C.H. 59 Jereme is the highest guy we have gotten since Marcus Liberty. Dee was 19.
  12. ha! yeah, pretty much. Didn't find that out there before I started. I think I'm putting a bit more information on mine, though, such as position and the recruits instead of just the commits. I'd also like to add additional information as time goes on such as national ranking as of senior year in HS and more. Like RSCI? Or one service in particular? I can add as many columns as would be useful. That's the advantage of setting up with the players in each row instead of the scholarships. Easy to add additional info about each player. Give me some time, I will try and find as many rankings as I can on the guys. I know it might be a little tougher now with some of the new commits since their rankings aren't final though.

  16. And again, I think our program is better, but not by enough to make some ridiculous claim about being one of the top programs ever. Bum's done that and that's why, imo, most of us are making fun of Purdue at any turn. I actually root for you guys to do well. Which is a shame, that he pushes your (collective, Illinois) buttons I mean. Most of the Illinois fans around here are pretty knowledgeable and I look forward to reading what you guys have to say. It's all in good fun. You have a good nucleus, I am worried about how Hummel comes back next year. I played with two guys who tore ACLs. One was back and about the same the next year, one was pretty much done after he did it. The good thing Hummel has going for him is that most of his game isn't based on playing above the rim, the bad thing is going to be how he is able to guard the quicker players now. I really think you guys will be a top ten team next year, but I wouldn't be suprised to see the losses of Kramer and Grant hurt you a lot more than many on here are thinking. Kramer, while a d-bag, was first team defense all four years he was in conference and Grant has played a solid role as well. Trust me when I say sometimes freshman aren't ready to come in and be super solid from the get go. I'm not really counting on the freshman. Painter is annoying the piss out of me by refusing to recruit from outside the state or just across the Indiana border. I am hoping that Barlow steps up his game some. If he chooses to he could be a great perimeter defender due to his size and athleticism. He should, at the least, be able to pick up some of the slack in the offense created by Grant. D.J. Byrd should also be better and be able give us some scoring off the bench. Bade should also improve and be smarter making him a decent backup C. Add in LewJack most likely being more healthy and there for a lot more games and any freshman who is competent and Purdue should be just as good. Obviously if Barlow, Bade and Byrd don't get any better, no freshman can step in or LewJack continues to be hurt we will be quite a bit worse but if a couple of them are better Purdue is still top 10 and if all step up then Purdue may be the best next season. And I still stand by what I said. Purdue is historically one of the best in the Big Ten. If you want to start changing historically to the last 10, 20 or whatever years then that changes everything and I wouldn't say Purdue is nearly as strong. You said top two, which is what we all took issue with. had you said one of the ebst, I know I wouldn't have laughed so hard. As for being the best next year, no way. Michigan State was better than you this year, and they bring back everyone but Morgan, and replace him with a top 5 recruiting class.
  17. Also a good basketball player. From what I've heard Nebraska isn't the favorite.
  18. Yep from Goddard same team as Derek Norris.

  20. Hoff has been awful this spring.

  22. apparently "i might play again this year" = "i won't miss a major" Did anyone not see this coming though? No way was he gonna miss a major tournament.
  23. Since conference play standardized in 1939 (i.e. the NCAA tournament came into being), Purdue has finished ahead of Illinois 35 times. Illinois has finished ahead of Purdue 34 times. So Purdue has finished ahead of Illinois more times than not? Thanks for clearing that up. Yep, after doing it this year. Man by one year. I guess that makes you the best program of all time. Or at least in the top two. The point is that Illinois fans are trying to come off as elitist. Y'know, us Purdue fans are a bunch of upstarts with no tradition. Congratulations you got to a national championship game, and lost. As for Purdue versus Illinois in the Big Ten standings. Last five years Purdue has finished ahead twice and Illinois once, with two ties. Last ten years Illinois is ahead six to two (plus the two ties). Last fifteen years and Illinois is ahead seven to six (plus the two ties). Last sixteen years, it's even at seven each, and the two ties. It's freaking cyclical (35 to 34 all-time even). Illinois hasn't finished ahead since 05'-06'. Before that, Illinois finished ahead six consecutive times (ending in 05'-06'). Before that Purdue finished ahead of Illinois six years out of seven. Purdue has been the better team over the last few years and Illinois fans are clinging to the success of the first half of the 2000's. It's like Purdue's teams never did well under Keady (or before). Neither school has had the long-term success of IU or the short-term success of Michigan State. We're at about the same level. What about final fours? Those are a pretty big barometer of a programs success. Plus Bum is the one who said one program was way ahead of the other.

  25. This year, they talked about it on our scout board today in reguards to McCamey. It allows the college coaches to know what they have for sure for the next year now. I hate it. NCAA, looking out for the kids! Sad as it is, I haven't been able to check out the boards in the past couple weeks cause of how poorly the season was ending. I'm gonna assume Mike Shaw committed to us, and you've all just been holding in your celebration. I wish, you should see some of his new highlights on there. He's a freak.
