  1. Wait is this game in Columbus?
  2. I love how these games are reffed. Sullinger throws his body all over the place. Hasn't fouled yet.
  3. He's shooting awful, but I like how he's still running the team.
  4. Please come out of the half strong.
  5. That was such a load of [expletive]. Its like 20 years ago never happened. Get [expletive] NCAA, CBS and all other members of the Bruce Pearl PR rehabilitation cartel. I don't understand how no one calls his [expletive] what it is. He came clean after they caught him.
  6. Somebodys having a coming out pary.
  7. i can't help but be paranoid about the lottery and what franchises get once in a lifetime players. once in a lifetime talent going to a franchise thats kind of meandering and has the potential and has been one of the most if not most profitable nba franchise? if im stern i sure do think about nudging them in the right direction. And it's not like the NBA doesn't have evidence that some events could have been predetermined (aka the whole Tim Donaghy fiasco). It wouldn't surprise me if lotteries like the 85 or 08 lottery were fixed. I'm not saying they were but it wouldn't surprise me at all with this league. If one was fixed it had to be the '03 one. LeBron just happens to stay home, revitalize a franchise and gets to learn to play in the NBA at home.
  8. Maybe you are right. I heard he loved Self was ready to come to KU, but he scrimmaged against the KU team and departing senior Nick COllison had his way with him and the KU fans were vocal about how he wasn't KU good and then he decided to stay home.
  9. Yep, but man one national title would have been worth it. I am a cubs fan. I want one title. weber was tied with like a minute to go against a team full of freakish athletes and a post player we couldn't touch. doubt self would have done much better. CV would have made quite a difference. CV wasn't coming to champaign, self or not. I think he was. In fact, I think he ends up at Kansas if not for Kansas having some absurd fans. At least that's what I've been told.
  10. I think we win tomorrow. But I think we lose at least one of two next week.

  12. Basically since we have the one and done rule the rich have got richer. Besides Kansas, although Cal being at UK has hurt you as you guys are in on pretty much all the same kids.

  14. Don't exactly want to hijack the thread here, but I got a couple questions though (this is for anybody on here to answer)... I just moved to Fayetteville, AR 2 weeks ago for Architecture school. Royals AA team/stadium is not even 10 minutes away from where I live now. I'm thinking about getting either a 7-game or 11-game package (along with other single game tixs if I have the time). My questions are... (you guys can PM me or say it here) Who are the prospects that I should watch out for? (Royals AA and the rest of the Texas league) Will Mike Trout be with the Angels AA team this season? What is Arvest Ballpark like? (like the stadium itself, any great/bad spots to watch, hitters/pitchers park?,etc...) What other Texas League team do I need to see? If there's anything else, or something you would recommend, just go ahead and add to it... I'm just curious cuz I used to go watch the Indianapolis Indians a few times a year the past couple years and love to watch the minor leagues games. I'm not really knowledgeable on the minor leagues/prospects/etc... (I mainly know the Cubs farm system and like other big time prospects like Hellickson/Montero/Harper/etc...) I'm pretty excited to see the Naturals as they should have a few of their big prospects playing there this year. Thanks. I've only went to one series and it was last year, but I loved the ballpark. As for at AA I would assume that Wil Myers will be there as he finished the year very strongly last year at high A, but I guess they could repeat him. It's also possible that Christian Colon will be there at some point next year.
  15. Pretty much all of the 90's. Six times in the 90's we didn't win 20 games. Once under Weber have not won 20, and we will again this year. You make it seem like the Illini were a perennial power right up until the past few years. Unfortunately, it's just not true. Bill Self is missed, but not nearly as much as you make it out to be. You sound like someone who has been jilted and is so obsessed with their ex that they can't think straight. I liked Lon a lot too. And the 90s have to be taken with a grain of salt. We were screwed by Bruce Pearl. Also didn't we generally schedule less games in the 90's than we do now? Again I don't think we need to be Duke or Kansas, I would love that, but know it's not happening. I just don't want us sitting nervous on Selection Sunday every other year. Turnover happens. We went from first to 11th to fourth in Kruger's last few seasons. Let's see how these strong classes pan out before we call Weber a pox on U of I basketball. I didn't expect this year to go smoothly with so many new bodies coming in. I'm reserving judgment until late Feb/March. The thing that scares me even more is next year. No DMac. Only a frosh point guard, they struggle big time in Weber's system. If we collapse and fade this year, which I am thinking we won't, we could be worse next year. And no tourny this year you can kiss the '13 kids goobye. We really need to get in the tourny and win at least a game imo.

  17. Yeah, when was the last time Illinois basketball went 5 years without a championship game appearance and 2 years without a top 2 Big Ten finish? UNACCEPTABLE. Lol, yeah I just want sweet sixteens. With a deeper run once a decade.
  18. They can't afford Garza. Their owner is keeping $12M all to himself. If they throw in Wil Myers and John Lamb, too, I'll pay the $6M salary. You weren't very high on the Royals system earlier this year, glad to see you turned the corner. Yeah, I think there are guys there that are a bit overrated right now, but it is a very solid system. It got a huge boost from the jumps in performance in 2010 from guys like Hosmer and Moose. Which guys do you think are overrated? If I had to guess which one I would say the most overrated is I would go with Moose. I know he had nice numbers, but most of them came in the hitters heaven that was NW Ark and he still won't take a walk.
  19. Easy Ron Guenther, don't diss Warren. Warren was a lot better basketball player than Chester Frazier, tell me you don't think Chester Frazier was in his league? If you do you might want to notice how Warren is having a nice career overseas making millions, meanwhile Chester isn't. And what's funnier, me wanting Bill Self back, or you pretending like he isn't a great coach? You didn't say Carter and McBride were the best players on the team, you said they were the leaders. Frazier was pretty unquestionably the leader from his sophomore-senior season, and it's pretty sad that you're throwing him under the bus to fit your agenda. Of course if you were talking strictly what they did on the court, Pruitt was probably better than McBride and Carter but he was recruited by Weber so you'll ignore that as well. WHEN HAVE I EVER PRETENDED SELF COULDN'T COACH??? Of course I do remember you intimating Self couldn't coach on several occassions. I and everyone else is just [expletive] sick of this argument where Illinois has a loss and you come in pining for your ex, and you yell at us for being kool aid drinkers, and we say the past 4 years have sucked, and you cite the same stats, and we say yeah, we know, and you talk about Jerrance, and we say ok, and you mention Eric Gordon, and we're like huh, and you talk about the marker on his face, and we tune you out, and you mention the 2003 National Title game, AND SUHGOUSHOUGPHSDOUGSHHOFU JUST SHUT THE [expletive] UP I haven't said anything about Eric Gordon, well besides complimenting him in the NBA thread, in forever. I could give two poops about drawing marker on his face, it look dumb, but who cares. And this is the first time I have mentioned the '03 championship game I think ever. But, hey go troll some Bulls fans some more then come back here and tell me how to post. Also congrats Chet, you were the worst leader Illinois has had since, christ when was the last time we went this long without being good?

  21. - They were sub .500 once, in the unluckiest season in the NCAA that year (by Pomeroy) - Chester Frazier as a soph led the team in minutes and was 3rd in usage behind Pruitt and Carter. McBride was useless, even if he was a recruit of his majesty Self. As horrible as he was offensively, he was still made into an effective point guard by Weber's coaching, and took two teams to the NCAA as overachievers. - Henson's forced retirement had more to do with the NCAA sanctions and penalties than any specific "run", but revisionist history is fun! -How were they most unlucky? In that they missed a crap load of free throws and couldn't score? Boy how unlucky. -I said Weber develops point guards well. Frazier playing the most minutes means only that he was Weber's boy from day one even though he wasn't an Illinois kid and sucked majorly on offense at a time when we needed offense. I wish Bruce would afford Crandall Head the same luxury he did Chester Frazier. -You may in fact be right, I was pretty young when all of that happened. Point remains we haven't won a tourny game in 4 years. 4 years at a school like Illinois. I wonder how many Big Ten schools allow that to happen? PSU and NW?
  22. I still love Deron Williams. Hey who recruited him again? It should be clear to pretty much everyone now that Bruce rolled the balls out for that group that Lon and Bill put together. Now Bruce is on his own and we are a .500 conference team. Awesome. All hail Bruce Weber. So is he a bad coach or a bad recruiter? Keep your story straight if you're going to consistently hate. I think he is a poor recruiter. I think that was proven until we added Jerrance and we will see it again when Jerrance leaves for his own gig. I also think that he is a poor game coach because of his being stubborn and refusing to adapt. I do think he develops point guards well. But that's about it. I'm sorry that I won't just accept him as the coach at Illinois. He's been horrible since Dee Brown and James Augustine graduated. I think it is offensive he is still employed. Since Brown and Augustine graduated: 2007: He took a team led by Chester Frazier and Shaun Pruitt that lost two rotation players to a collision to a winning record in the Big Ten and a tournament game as a 12 seed in a game they had won. 2008: This team had the worst luck in the NCAA, losing 15 games by single digits, the only blowout losses being to Wisconsin and Duke. Still took the team within a game of the tournament. 2009: McCamey's sophomore year, along with Tisdale and Davis. Led by Frazier again, to second in the Big Ten and a 5 seed, and lost Frazier for the NCAA tournament, while McCamey wasn't ready to take over yet. Disappointing tournament loss, but overachieving season. 2010: Two terrible preseason losses killed what should have been a tourney berth (Utah St, seriously?). Probably the most disappointing season of the Weber era. I understand being disappointed by last year, and the UIC loss this year, but every team has the occasional stupid loss. You've had your mind made up since like 2008 that Weber can't handle the program, and he's now finally getting the talent. If they defended as well as they did in 2006-08, they'd be a top 10 team. But to say you're "offended" that Weber is still coaching is clownshoes, and says more about you than Weber. -Since Dee Brown left campus until the start of this year he was sub .500 in conference. -And no Chester Frazier as a soph wasn't the leader of that team. It was Rich McBride and Warren Carter. Two more Self kids for the record. I hate the rep Chester has gotten. To me he is a posterboy for the horrible run Illinois has had. -Lou Henson had a run very similar to the one Weber is having. He was forced into retirement. -71 teams have won a tournament game since '06, Illinois isn't one of them. I've had it in for Weber since we became an after thought. Which we are now. It's embarassing.

  24. I like Mike Trout a lot, but no way is he a better prospect than Bryce Harper.
  25. I don't hate Bill Self at all. he's responsible for putting together the greatest team we've had. I hate Ron GUenther for hiring a lifetime assistant to take his place.
