  1. Well, the experiment didn't work. He took the Golden Sombrerro for the nite, 0 for 4
  2. Gracie DID lead all hitters in the decade of the 90's in hits and doubles.
  3. I love gracie as much as anyone....I'm a lefty hitter and thrower, played 1st base 12 years, high school, college and the whole time I wore no. 17. So no one can question that I didn't love gracie...but as to the question....HELL YES Hawk is correct.
  4. I think all gloves do
  5. I don't understand why Roberts 9th is stupid. It's the same philosophy Francona employs in Boston (with Bellhorn). Put a high OBP guy in the 9th spot so that your 3 and 4 hitters have more opportunities to drive in runs. As a high school baseball coach, I put a high OBP in the 9 hole.
  6. Ty Cobb was never known as a power hitter and whenever he was asked about it he would remark that he didn't hit home runs because he didn't want to hit homers, he thought it was a lazy mans way to score a run. When Ruth came along and hit his 60 homers in 1920, newspaper were all after Cobb telling him that he was jealous of Ruth because of his power. Well, as Al Stump put it in "Cobb": Cobb hit 5 straight homers, a record that stood for some time, just to put the journalists in their place. He then went back to hitting his merry little singles and drag bunts.
  7. I've been looking, but they aren't up anywhere yet. They are on cbssportline. I'm sure there will be alot of complaints but not much changed except Hollandsworth at 8 instead of Murton. It's impossible for me to express my anger towards Dusty Baker. Why is Neifi still playing while Cedeno rots on the bench? And why bring up Murton if he's not going to get a chance? this is all so stupid. freaking dusty.
  8. so i guess these last two wins saved dusty's job? Well, I doubted they would ever fire him in the first place.
  9. DUDE!! I feel your pain. I have both Beckett and Halladay....PLUS I have freaking Tim Hudson who has been hurt....DAMN YOU INJURIES!!!!
  10. yeah, i think the blood has been in the water long enough I was just saying last nite that none of the talking heads have indicted baker....but now they are starting to it seems.
  11. me too, he plays for my hometown team, the Mississippi Braves. Nice guy.
  12. he's not TRYING to lose his job is he?
  13. Kearns hit 3 homers tonite in the minors.
  14. Have you seen Dubois bat? He would have struck out faster than Macias, generally Macias at least makes contact. Still pretty pathetic that Dusty's best option in that situtation is Macias. Macias usually strikes out, too. The difference is that with Dubois, you have a chance for a GS, or the remote chance of a walk. Macias is a poor, poor hitter. That was terrible managing. Well the stats don't back up your argument. Dubois strikes out roughly 1 out of every 3 times at bat. Macias Strikes out 1 out of every 10. Dubois is a better hitter than Macias. With Jason, there is at least the threat of damage. I'm not gonna have to go with Dubois also in that situation. You need a power bat in that situation.
  15. half our team needs to be put up against a wall and shot
  16. If Lee competes I just hope it doesn't jinx him when he returns to the field.
  17. I played with and watched Holliman pitch for 3 years and I would say that he works in the 91-94 range. Definitely low 90's. In a game against Tennessee this year he was hitting 96-97 pretty consistently on our gun. He throws real hard. His slider is awesome (I guess this was what they were referring to as his "slurve" in that article.)
