  1. Well that's one way of looking at it... the true Illinois native Americans might prefer getting their land back over having a college attended by very few native Americans name its mascot after a tribe that used to live there. and you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which gets filled first. I'd like to sleep with Elisha Cuthbert, but that isn't happening. :P There is NOTHING insulting about tribe names being school mascots. Do you think they named FSU the Seminoles, or MC the Choctaws out of some maliciousness??? C'mon. The only Indian name that I have trouble with is Redskins, I could easily see how that is offensive.
  2. This is absolutely retarted. Political correctness at an insane level. I'm sure one of their banned teams is the Mississippi College Choctaws which is retarted seeing how the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is very much in favor of the school using "Choctaws". Plus they have a high percentage of Choctaws who go to Mississippi College. I myself am 1/16th Choctaw and this is just so stupid. Ughhhhh, naming the University after the Choctaws was done as a TRIBUTE to those who lived in the area before we got here. Gosh.
  3. That's excellent
  4. I think we'll see alot more of these bubble candidates i.e. 400 homers, 2500 hit type players as time moves on. These people 20 years ago would not be bubble candiates but sure fire inductees. But of course, the statistical climate has changed somewhat in baseball.
  5. Iowa didn't seem to help Corey. 19 games, 73 ab's, .219 BA, 3 HR, 7RBI
  6. A fear of mine as well.
  7. I know this is in injury update thread, but I figured it needed it's own thread seeing as how we just lost our second CF of the year. So what now? Is Corey coming back up? Murton in left, Burney in center and Lawton in right? Ideas?
  8. So we can further feel depressed. Leave us alone in our self-loathing!!!!!
  9. I agree, I too was too young to really understand. I liked him though because I went to a camp he gave for left handed hitters when I was like 13 or 14. It really really really helped. I credit him and that camp alot for helping me become a much better baseball player.
  10. OUCH. Thats' pretty harsh words coming from Will the Thrill. Both are still icons around these parts because of their college days together at MSU.
  11. Not sure it makes any difference, but Rose never bet against his team.
  12. VERY nice response Jay, kudos.
  13. I don't see how steroids can make that big of a difference in your game from one month off them to one month on them.
  14. He isn't that big, about the same size as Burnitz
  15. he's pretty stout. Maybe he took some roids to help his knee heal better and got caught.
  16. Libel is written word and Slander is spoken. If the supposed juicers had a beef with meathead, they would sue him for Libel.
  17. Can public figures sue for slander? Not quite sure, that's a slipper slope. We need an attorney, "JC!!!!"
  18. I've said worse things in front of students on accident before, hah.
  19. Ya, Tim Kurkjan on FOXSPORTS radio said something today about another big fish is going to fry. Why would Kurkjan be on FOXSPORTS radio when he's an ESPN employee? he was on the Jim Rome show which I just now remembered is ESPN, he used to be on FOX, sorry about that, brain fart.
  20. Ya, Tim Kurkjan on FOXSPORTS radio said something today about another big fish is going to fry.
  21. I wish he'd stay out for the rest of his career. Those alltime home run records need to be kept by people who actually earned them.
  22. WAY TO GO VANCE!!!! I can tell you are a true dixie boy like me because you said mUNroe instead of mONroe like yankees say it :-)
  23. Yes. Smith was the greatest defensive player this game has ever known
  24. Hey y'all, I just realized something. Go take a look at Kenny Lofton's stats for Pittsburgh at the time he was traded to us. Lawton has him beat in every single category except SB (two behind where Lofton was) and BA (4pts behind). So, what I mean is, Lawton could really prove to be a sparkplug. And everyone complains about how dreadful his second halfs were, well you can look around the bigs and players stats usually die after the allstar break if they are on crappy teams....unless it is a contract year. So maybe he'll be happier playing for a contending team instead of a gutter team. Just a few thoughts.
  25. I wondered the same thing myself
