  1. Will Clark is a sabermetricians wet dream. He was definitely a stud though.
  2. Jeff Reboulet was on the ballot last year. I think the only qualifications to get on the ballot is that you played 10 years and have been retired for 5.
  3. They were the best two SS of their era in their respective leagues. To me that makes the HOF type players. What's the point of a HOF if only the "legendary" players can get in? IMO Sports HOFs are about eras and the best of each should get in. I get what you are saying and agree, but some would argue that Ripken was the better AL shortstop of the 80's than Trammell. Larkin, I don't think there is any contest. He was the premier NL Shortstop of the 90's.
  4. No kidding. Houston scored 73 POINTS against Rice and their 14 points.
  5. They are showing highlights of Toby Gerhart and I just have to say that it looks so weird to me to see a white power running back like that. It just doesn't look right.
  6. I've played numerous mods including EB and SPQR, but I settled on RS for whatever reason. I think mainly because I like the map size. Also, the new version of RS has VERY realistic and cool new terrain features. My favorite tactic in Rome is to position an army to where the attacking force has to cross a bridge. You just stick one or two good defensive units at the bridgehead and have about 3 or 4 units of catapults just open fire on the enemy units that are bottlenecked using fire shots. Have you played Empire yet? I was super looking forward to it and it's not a terrible game, but it's crazy laggy. I have a pretty dang good gaming computer and it still has issues with lag. And I've never been able to get into Medieval. The fast-forward button is very slow and that bothers the piss out of me. Plus the whole princess thing is just stupid.
  7. I'm a Dawson homer. Intellectually I obviously understand the knocks against him (let's make that clear) and if I didn't have the Cubs connection of my youth toward him, I probably wouldn't include him on my list. But I could pretty much guarantee there isn't another non-HOFer with an all around resume as good as his. 2800 hits 440 HR 500 Doubles 1600 RBI 300 Stolen Bases 8 Gold Gloves (4 in CF) 8 All Star appearances Most Valuable Player award Rookie of the Year Award *stats rounded up in some cases
  8. Mark Richt just got a gatorade bath and exploded at his players for doing it with still a minute left. Started screaming at them. That's gonna be on youtube in 3...2..
  9. Houston needs to knock it off. They have 73 points at the start of the 4th qtr.
  10. OMFG, Houston over Rice 59-0...AT THE HALF they should have a mercy rule
  11. It's ROME and nothing is even close. The game engine works so much better than the others. I've also got the Medieval and Empire games. I don't like the Medieval engine and Empire is just really buggy. I think they released it too soon. The modification "Roma Surrectum" is an awesome mod for Rome btw. It's got a much more historical accurate feel to it, including a larger map with more cities. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/87/Rtw_political_trm60.png
  12. this is a nightmare
  13. I nominate Bob Costas...
  14. holy smokes. the first quarter for the olemiss v msu game lasted 21 minutes. cant recall seeing a first quarter that fast
  15. GO TO HELL BULLDOGS! HOTTY TODDY!
  16. http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/28/tiger-woods-elin-nordegren-fight-accident-suv-lacerations/ The dastardly perp of this senseless crime against Tiger: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__NQFR6dKO-g/SaKvJDbz0gI/AAAAAAAABR0/pyVGdTb5ksM/s400/elin+woods.jpg
  17. He'd never get my vote just because of how awful the DH rule is to me. The voters seem to be a pretty conservative bunch and I'm sure there are plenty who hate the DH as much as me.
  18. Milestone stats don't always matter. Larkin has pretty much every single intangible (non-milestonish types of things) that get people into the hall. I forgot to add on my previous list the fact that he played his whole career with one team, which is something that voters (strangely imo) look at. In my opinion, we don't to wait and see how the vote goes. He's a lock with the voters. Personally, I'm up in the air about him. I could be convinced either way with good arguments.
  19. Shep Smith is my hero now. Check out him go after the LSU Tigers. I LOVE IT. http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/shepard-smith/index.html
  20. Maybe personally you feel that way, but there's no way he isn't a first ballot guy given what voters look at: He's extremely popular in the baseball community, a MVP award, multiple gold gloves at SS, nearly a career .300 hitter, 12 All-Star games. He's a lock.
  21. what the hell??
  22. Raines, Larkin, Alomar, Trammell, Dawson, Blyleven
  23. a field goal.
  24. say Auburn beats BAMA, then BAMA beats FLA, and Nebraska beats Texas...then TCU vs. Cincy. That'd be awesome. Although I'm sure they'd figure out a way to make that not happen.
  25. WAR EAGLE!!! 21-14 now
