  1. About those 16 that didn't vote for Maddux...We know that one ballot was blank and that another guy made a horrifyingly stupid case for why he didn't vote for Maddux because he played in the roid era, but I'd love to know about the other 14. I mean, I don't think it's possible to make a case that Maddux isn't a Hall of Famer. If they want to claim that LeBatard has besmirched the BBWAA, then the BBWAA needs to call out everyone who didn't vote for Maddux and have them make a case for why he isn't a Hall of Famer because they are really just being trolls by not voting for him and being a troll isn't "honorable" either.
  2. Yet that Gurnik guy suffers no consequences for basically filling out an obvious troll ballot.

  4. Looks like they gave Maddog a size too big because they were unsure how fat it is these days
  5. @BFeldmanCBS: BREAKING #Vandy coach James Franklin is expected to be the next head coach at #PennState, per source Excellent. Get that dude out of my conference. He's gonna do great at Penn St. Outstanding recruiter.
  6. My bad, I thought Len was talking about the guy who only voted for Morris. I don't really care about LeBatard
  7. An axe should come down quickly on that neck
  8. It's a huge factor. SEC vs. Mountain West. I will repost this from the other thread:
  9. That's beautiful
  10. The way too early Top 25 http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=10246704&src=desktop&wjb 1. FSU 2. BAMA 3. Oregon 4. Stanford 5. Auburn 6. Michigan State 7. UCLA 8. Oklahoma 9. Ohio State 10. LSU 11. Georgia 12. Baylor 13. USCe 14. USC 15. Wisconsin 16. Texas A&M 17. North Carolina 18. Clemson 19. Washington State 20. Ole Miss 21. Iowa 22. Arizona State 23. Notre Dame 24. UCF 25. Florida
  11. Having an offense that involves Sproles and Graham means less checks down the field for sure. Although I think the right answer is contained within this wonderfully scientific equation: Since 2006 every time Drew gets hit I will basically yell "Look out! Oh isht! Please get up!". I've yelled that a hell of a lot more this year, so I think him not looking his best is mostly due to the line sucking so hard. For example, in the previous 4 seasons his sack stats were: 20, 25, 24, and 26. This year it was 37 times.
  12. This is random, but Kirby Puckett got in on first ballot and was basically given an "injury discount". Mattingly never got higher than 28% and also had his career cut short with injury. Puckett: 10 All Stars, 6 GG, 2304 hits, 1085 RBI, .318/.360/.477, 124 OPS+ Mattingly: 6 All Stars, 9 GG, 2153 hits, 1099 RBI, .307/.358/.471, 127 OPS+ I suppose Puckett's position has a huge deal to do with the disparity for votes. Also being a WS winner and hero helped.
  13. Texas A&M is liable to have a MAJOR fall next year. How do they make up that 5,000 yards or whatever JFF compiled this year? Also, their defense is a complete trainwreck.
  14. Johnny Manziel infographic I came across.
  15. Enough of this secret ballot crap. These people need to be exposed and their voting rights need to be revoked.
  16. Biggio and Piazza only players to go up in voting this year. Be just as crowded next year with Pedro, Big Unit, and Smoltz joining the ballot.
  17. Someone voted for Jacques Jones...
  18. Maddux, Glavine, and Big Hurt Poor Biggio with 74.8%
  19. http://www.trbimg.com/img-5112c8b4/turbine/chi-football-recruiting-treadwell-20130206-002/599/449x599 cash money, baby! SEC Freshman of the Year. Wonder what he could have done at Michigan!?
  20. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/1042136/houston-nutt-lol-laugh-o.gif Yes, he was the ULTIMATE slimeball and the state in which he left the Ole Miss football program when he was fired is almost criminal. It was a true disaster when Freeze came in, which is why so many people in the know really praise Freeze for bringing the football program back to something resembling an SEC program in just two years. The only reason Nutt won AT ALL, back to back Cotton Bowl victories, at Ole Miss was because of some great talent that Ed Orgeron brought in before he was fired.
  21. I thought that was Houston Nutt who texted a girl a billion times.
  22. Piazza? I'm guessing he is an assumed juicer in their minds.
  23. Both of who clearly got in based on awesome names that Jack Morris lacks. On Rube:
  24. Jack Morris' career ERA+ is 105. Only two guys in the HOF have worse: Catfish Hunter at 104 and Rube Marquad at 103.
  25. Kind of before my time as far as following transactions go, but does anyone remember or know about the Cubs letting Maddux slip to free agency back in 92? Seems like someone you would want to lock up if at all possible. Dawson left that same offseason, so it doesn't seem like we'd have been too strapped for cash to bring him back.
