  1. I prefer the idea of him at third, Russell at SS, and Baez at 2nd. And with Rizzo at first...Sweet [expletive] Allah, what an infield
  2. So last year Russell had 17 hr, 29 doubles, and 10 triples. Dayuuum!
  3. Also, to the Soccer guys, I'll have to apologize for dissing the sport. I'm a pretty sporting fella and I love sports, so my hate was just ignorance. I was laying around watching, I think, Brazil v. Chile, and some kind of switch went off in my head and I started to see the plays take shape and it was a total eureka moment. So yeah, my sporting mind was like "ooooohhhh, I get it now." It is an enormously frustrating game, but that's just part of it. You can have this epic plan unfolding in an attempt to score and NOPE, some doofus for the opposing team mucks the entire thing up by sticking his foot out one stinking time. So yeah, apologies. I get it now. #nolongeranignorantamerican
  4. Well if ESPN hypes those as much, the interest might be there.
  5. We are ranked 11th and you guys 13th - this game was supposed to be close. Neutral outsiders seem to really like what they saw yesterday. If my guys step up like they did yesterday, we've got a chance against Messi and his supporting cast (their goalkeeper cannot possibly repeat what Howard did yesterday). Especially since we'll be the underdogs and the pressure will be on Argentina. What's with half your players having WWII Wehrmacht haircuts? The historian in me found that a tad disturbing.
  6. In hindsight was it a mistake to leave Donovan off the team? Couldn't he have stepped in when Altidore went down?
  7. OK, another soccer question. In high school or youth baseball, your best players often pitch and play shortstop and in football they are often the quarterbacks of their team and then become some other position later as they get onto more mature teams. Is it the same way in soccer? Were Omar Gonzalez and Fabian Johnson forwards in younger life and then became defenders as they got older? Seems like in younger leagues you'd always want your stud kid out there making goals.
  8. Good answer. Our talent pool currently is minuscule for what it could be one day.
  9. I would think those are learned skills. You don't think that if you had someone like Reggie Bush from age 5 playing Soccer that they couldn't develop elite foot skills and stamina? They'd have those skills PLUS the god given ability to run a 4.4 and juke people out of their cleats.
  10. Ok, I'm bringing this to you guys because I know less than nothing about the game, but I thought about something when that Kakalu guy came in. If the sport keeps progressing in popularity and becomes a huge mainstream sport, in 100 years won't we be absolutely dominant just because of the athletes we can put on the field? If a specimen like Reggie Bush had been raised to play soccer or if someone like Lebron James learned to play keeper. That would be outright scary, right? Wouldn't they just out-physical these skinny Europeans?
  11. I'm not so sure the gam thread will even reach 29 pages now
  12. So wondolowski is the heel for the day
  13. Gotta go through two 15 minute periods before that. No way we survive another 30 mins
  14. That Prince Harry looking kid for Belgium is scary
  15. Last 20 minutes http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/11/files/2012/04/Sanford-and-son.jpg
  16. Howard is an American hero right now
  17. That Shaquiri guy is like Hack Wilson
  18. That was NUTS!! God hates that man
  19. So what actual time is our first kick (or whatever they call it in soccer)
  20. I hope not. Nothing good comes from being middle of the pack. If you're gonna be terrible you may as well be a complete dumpster fire and get a super stud in the draft.
  21. Seth Smith is cheap Shocker Heh, yeah yeah. Lefty bat with a 151 ops+ in 70 games this season. That's higher than any Cub right now. He is actually pretty damn good these days.
  22. Oh man JD Drew last played in 2011 Jesus I'm terrible
