  1. it was a different era concerning offense from a SS. Remember Larry Bowa, Bill Russell, and Dave Concepcion were the benchmark at SS in the NL in the 70s. Ozzie Smith in the 80s
  2. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=312017 looks like the Bowman is trying to boost the IceHogs chances at the Calder Cup
  3. I probably should have...cant say he didnt get a chance. other players who were given a good chance to succeed were Walton and Wilkens. Dunston is probably the only player the Cubs have just let struggle for an extended period of time without having a certain amount of initial success at the major league level. Of course he was very popular among Cub fans.
  4. I think if the Sox were really willing to trade Beckham for A Gon, this trade would happen pretty quick. My guess is that the Sox believe their pitching will keep them in contention. If they look like a real chance to be a Series contender this year at the deadline, then they may do something like trade Beckham for A Gon.
  5. I know this is kind of rehashing stuff that has been discussed before, but Ryan Theriot is only the 3rd position player that has become a regular for the Cubs in the last 40+years.(when i say regular I mean 3 or more years) That kind of track record tells me there is something besides just bad drafting that is the problem. The Cubs have clearly done a lousy job at developing positional players. One area that they really struggle at is letting a young player get over the hump at the major league level. I am not sure that Gary Scott or Kevin Orie would have ever been good players if the Cubs would have just let them play, but the Cubs are certainly not a team that a young player wants to have a slump with.
  6. I think the Cubs will extend/resign Lee. I also think it will be a horrible contract. 3/4 years 11million a season
  7. That has nothing to do with not having fighting. Right. I think because it was the olympics, none of the rough stuff got dirty. But you play games with that type of intensity in the NHL without fighting and someone will get hurt. I am not a anti fighting guy, but I disagree with this statement.
  8. how often do you deal with Canadians?
  9. going to play a little homer here but Rafalski was very good in the tournament, not sure who out of those three I would take out though.
  10. The Americans weren't favored to medal. The U.S. Hockey brains completely turned over the roster from the Tkachuk/Modano/Chelios crew to the Parise/Kane/Miller crew, and they played pretty damn well. This bodes well for 2014. yup. going into the olympics, picking the US for the bronze was considered a bold pick. not only did they win a silver, but you could argue that they had the best tournament of any team. I give Burke and Wilson credit for going with a younger team. I think Parise, Miller and Kane were no brainers, but I could see some hockey people taking Tkachuk over someone like Dustin Brown
  11. So Jerome Iginla is another player that I really think is way over rated and he gets the game winning assist.
  12. I imagine Cynosure currently slitting his wrist somewhere
  13. not crosby!!!!!!!!!
  14. OK, I am going to complain. This is gold medal hockey. play hockey until someone scores. Not 4 on 4
  15. So Babcock is coaching a team that blows a 2 goal lead....I think I have heard this way too much this year
  16. Pavelski and Parisse!!!!!!
  17. if the US scores it is because babcock has opted to play Pronger big minutes and disregard seabrook
  18. miller is a stud
  19. I think the Canadians are forcing the dump and chase
  20. I think the US has done a great job of getting this into a more wide open game. I think they have more of a chance in this kind of game. I think I have thought a play was offsides and not called at least 15 times these olympics..not that I am the expert Babcock has to keep Pronger off the ice
  21. Luckily Kesler is there making plays for him :) he wishes he had a guy like kane on his team, hehe He does, the Sedins sisters
  22. Is everyones picture messed up or is it just my cable system
  23. Luckily Kesler is there making plays for him :)
  24. must be an obvious anti blackhawk conspiracy
  25. since Sakic is gone, Thorton is probably the most veteran player who wears 19.
