  1. Maybe that's part of the issue. Either you post a ton or you are ignored. Again, I can lurk and been fine doing so, but it just seems like those not engaged all the time get ignored. Again, not just me. All this is fine mind you, just don't complain about traffic here.
  2. one time mlpeel sent me a very angry pm because a mod said he was moving a thread to rants and i said "i'll move you to rants" Can I bump the "What's wrong with this board" thread? Not that anyone here gives a [expletive] what I think but maybe that mentality is part of the problem. Now more than ever, let everyone be included here. which mentality? C'mon. You do have to see that this board HS like clickish. It's not just my posts. A lot of guys here get the cold shoulder. It's fine, I come here for the good info I don't get elsewhere but this place is one big nerd slapfight sonetimes.

  4. It goes without saying, but Hawk is comprehensively detestable. I really feel like I wouldn't really mind the Sox nearly as much if it weren't for him. But he just makes you want all the bad things to happen to that team out of pure spite for him. My feelings exactly. Stoney just is icing on the cake. I don't hate the actual team so much since AJ left.
  5. Russell aside, I think that's the first time that lineup has been together.
  6. Since Theo took over, when people would ask me, I'd say it would be a few years before the Cubs were good. Then over the past couple years I'd say they should start being competitive in 2015. So naturally, last year I would say "they should be pretty good next year." "LOL! Next year! Typical Cubs fan, you've been saying that every year." So in answer to your question, I'm not lonely, I *choose* to not have friends. My two closest friends are Yankee fans so I've heard crap every year dating back to 1983 when we all became friends. For the past few years I've not said a word about the Cubs as I knew they'd be bad. This year, when I started saying that the Cubs would start to be a better team because of Bryant and company they immediately jumped down my throat and claimed I say that every year and that every year the Cubs don't do anything. As a result, we now have a a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey and a 12 pack of beer riding on which team finishes with a better record this year. Go Cubs! *ETA - First time posting since 2008. Good to be back! Should have gone for Knob Creek. You'll win that bet. Yankees are old and will break down this year, worse than last. Besides, I understand that we are good.
  7. http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/mug-throw-big-lebowski.gif Well, that just like, my opinion, man.
  8. I do get it that if it is fun for the young guys on the team then fine, it really is about them. Still, I do fondly remember a simpler time when we didn't feel the need to name every [expletive] thing we're feeling in the form of a tidy social media slogan. And stay off my lawn while you're at it. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51O%2Bjr05bML._SL500_AA280_.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51UnkHn7g1L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg Splitting hairs maybe, but at least stupid songs are something with which a crowd can participate. Hashtag sayings are just some manufactured creations that exist for social media traffic. Do we have to name everything? #getoffmylawn

  10. Cubs.com. In 2003 I was doing searches for anything to do with Mark Prior and found a thread here on NSBB.
  11. http://www.image.ie/_uploads/images/galleries/I-Love-You-All/570x570/frank_.jpg Oh god, yes. Thank you for this.
  12. No way in hell that Iowa game gets played tonight, maybe not tomorrow either. Flooding everywhere today.
  13. He's looked brutal at 3B tonight. Awkward as hell and wild throws to 1B. I saw him last year when they were here and he never looked this bad.
  14. It's going to be tough to get in the 4 Iowa games this week. There's 80-100% chances of heavy rain every day this week in NOLA.
  15. Catching Iowa at NO next week, maybe the matinee on Wed if I can swing it. Trying to do Wrigley for Cards series around July 4th. Will be in Milwaukee that week and trying to swing a trip. Train or rental car the best idea? I'd get a hotel then public transportation.
  16. Making breakfast then packing to go drinks and watching the drag Easter parades, going to a bbq with the gf's family, then settling onto a barstool around 5 for the game. Work tomorrow will suck. Already giddy about tonight. I feel like it's a playoff game or something. Pacing is in order.
  17. That is a BOLD prediction. he also put a cubs predictions in his non cubs predictions, so he's extra bold Hey, it was the end of an off day, so day drinking had something to do with it.
  18. yeah, i really hate that aspect of it. i wish we were just a random opening day game instead of opening night. we will be a punchline everywhere that night and monday morning. [expletive] them. I wish it was a little closer to done too but it's sort of a metaphor for the team. Not quite finished, but damn is it going to be impressive when it's done.
  19. The Cubs lineup becomes a K machine and leads the league in runners left on base. Arrieta and Hammel regress closer to their norms.
  20. In just that snippet, Theo achieved the following: -Shown himself to be the biggest adult in the room, followed closely by... -Kris Bryant, who he praised while simultaneously yet subtly showed Kris how he's better than this posturing. -Put the Boras camp in the position of having to explain why a minor leaguer should get better treatment than accomplished ML allstars. Yeah, it may all be bs, but who cares. That was Clintonesque. Bravo.
  21. Non-Cubs: -The Reds will be dreadful and go into total firesale mode. -Indians win the AL Central but the Twins are this year's surprise team, pushing for a playoff spot into September. -Sadly, the Red Sox run away with the AL East. -Cards finish no better than 4th in the Central as Yadi spends more games on the DL than off of it. -Jays lead all of baesball in runs scored, but pitching disappoints. Cubs: -Rizzo and McCutchen battle for NL MVP. -Bryant and Russell are 1-2 in NL ROY voting, ala 1989. -Lester is exactly what we want him to be, Arrieta shines and Hammel is solid but the back of the rotation is inconsistent at best all year. -Cubs win division, are hottest team entering ALDS against Padres. Pitching shines but Cubs outdong them and advance to NLCS, where they lose to Nats.
  22. Bald Castro looks like he is 13 years old.
  23. Benson has put down many a bottle, but he is not in charge, court ordered.
  24. Twitter has gone nuts in the last couple of hours around the Saints. If you believe them, everyone but Brees and Brandin Cooks are available, with Kenny Stills and Cam Jordan being actively shopped. Stills might be a star one day and is still on his rookie deal. There's a serious overhaul happening and money or cap space isn't what's driving it.
