  1. The self righteous posturing is strong in this thread.
  2. Forecast for the ARK/Ole Miss game is ugly. Supposed to pour all weekend in Fayetteville, mid 50's and a 90% chance of heavy rain on Saturday.
  3. OMC, I completely agree about the Hogs ability to get back up for the Rebels after the emotional win last week. What gives me encouragement is Bielema's ability this season to get his team ready to play each week after emotional games. I think this game comes down to the Hogs D line and their ability to put pressure on Bo Wallace. This is the best D Arkansas has had in a decade with Philon, Flowers, B Jackson and Wise. They have to get OM off the field on 3rd down.
  4. They could be, although it would be completely absurd. Not necessarily disagreeing, but are they not one of the best 25 in the country? Only game that was a bad loss was Georgia, and that was close at the end. Very near losses to Bama and MS State. It could be argued that the Hogs have been the most consistently solid team all season and has played toe to toe with anyone and everyone in the country. But yeah, I do see your point.
  5. Serious question. If Arkansas beats Ole Miss could they be the first 6-5 team ever ranked in the top 25? The power rankings seem to suggest that. Wow.
  6. Yeah, but most of these kids were'nt around for that and definitely were'nt getting PT. That win over LSU last night after starting 0-17 in the SEC was a huge release for the players, the fans and the staff. It's easily the best this program has felt since Petrino left. Yep. You could tell that they were close against all these ranked teams this year, but couldn't get over the hump/close the deal. The win over LSU is HUGE. They also had quite a few notable recruits at that game from what my buddy told me and they got a good class coming in that could end up being better (7- 4 star recruits after only landing 3 last year). A top 20 class right now, and yes, there were a ton of recruits at that game. Good times are ahead I believe. If this team goes 1-1 or better against OM and Mizzou and goes to a bowl game, there will be some serious momentum for 2015. I know some of you guys don't like Bielema, but keeping this team competing week after week after all the gut wrenching losses is quite an accomplishment.
  7. Yeah, but most of these kids were'nt around for that and definitely were'nt getting PT. That win over LSU last night after starting 0-17 in the SEC was a huge release for the players, the fans and the staff. It's easily the best this program has felt since Petrino left.
  8. Really interesting to see if the Arkansas staff can get the team ready for the Ole Miss game. That game vs LSU was one of the more emotional wins in recent memory. I think the Hogs can run on OM and get bowl eligible.
  9. NFL DC is and always has been his calling. Definitely agreed. I'm guessing he'll end up as a DC at a Southern college - TAMU, Auburn, South Carolina or Florida State. And Dan Mullen seems the obvious choice as a replacement. Maybe Bob Stoops? I get the feeling the fans in OK would pack Stoops' bags for him and drive the UHaul.
  10. Yes, no and yes. He has no quickness left and his jumper isn't as reliable. The Pels practically tried to give him away for the last 2 years with no success. He is a mediocre 6th man at best these days. I was encouraged to see him with some assists tonight and get involved a bit.
  11. So how will the Hogs break my heart this week? Another tripping penalty on the clinching TD? Another missed PAT?
  12. Jor Madden's Wiki page says he is the current manager of the Chicago Cubs. That settles it.
  13. Ok, but who do you sub then? Notre Dame? Their 1 loss is on par at best with Auburn and Mich State's. TCU, who gave up over 50 to Baylor? I can see Bama maybe.
  14. Wittenmyer article today with interesting quotes from Jake Peavy. Apparently he and Lester have discussed going somewhere as a package deal, and he doesn't hide his affinity for the Cubs and Chicago. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/30693879-419/jake-peavy-jon-lester-have-eye-on-cubs-as-package-deal.html#.VE_a6WS9Kc0
  15. Can't answer the latter, but I'm sure the Crimson Tide Foundation is the fundraising group of high roller alums who supply the funds to pay coaches salaries and for new weight rooms, etc. I know the Razorback Foundation has Don Tyson, JB Hunt, a few Waltons, etc and they had to approve funds any time Arkansas hires a coach.
  16. And it's going to suck. The only good thing that came out of the BCS was it made every game affect every other one in the title picture. If every power conference gets an automatic bid, there's no reason for anyone in B1G country to care about an SEC game, and vice versa. ND could finish #5 this year and I'd still be vehemently against any further playoff expansion. Like it or not, it's going to happen. A) AD's and conference commissioners are going to lose their [expletive] when their teams are left out this year. B) Mo money, mo money. I honestly would love to see it. Miss St vs TCU, Mich St vs Bama, Georgia vs ND, Oregon vs FSU? Yes, please.
  17. Amari Cooper may be the best player in the country. That swing pass in the first quarter he took to the house will be shown over and over come draft time. That Bama/Miss St game will tell the tale for me, and then the SEC-CG against Georgia. I want to put Mich St up there too maybe.
  18. Ok. I'll admit that I was wrong last night about Harold Reynolds. He just said we should start seeing Pablo Sandoval as a modern day Reggie Jackson. No kidding. Maybe years of Tim McCarver have lowered the bar.
  19. As bad as Harold Reynolds is mostly, he has been pretty enjoyable and made some good observations as a color guy in the booth. Maybe he is better in the booth with the pace of the game, and not when given so much freedom to be a moron on MLBTV.
  20. Unfortunately I don't think that'll happen. The Rebels will trip up at least once (although it's really, really hard to score against that defense, so maybe they won't trip up) and I'm having a hard time imagining Mississippi State winning in Tuscaloosa. At this point, I think the playoff will be FSU Oregon SEC West winner (one loss Ole Miss because of tie-break over Bama) SEC West one-loss team (Bama) I think it's easy to look at last week and conclude Bama is back to being Bama, but that was against a not so good aTm team, who picked the worst week of the season to go to Tuscaloosa. Let's see Sims and the Tide put a few of these together before saying they're back. MS St is still better to me. I keep waiting for Ole Miss to falter, but that defense might not let them. LSU is home at night, but that and Fournette are about all they have going for them. Cheney for the Hogs is the dumbest [expletive] playcaller we have had since Nutt. The Hog's running game is arguably the best in the country and their QB is only decent on his best day. After an opening TD drive where they run the ball down Georgia's throats, Cheney becomes pass happy and runs a tight end reverse in field goal range. At least the team did fight in the second half.
  21. Yeah, he's gone. Florida is awful. It doesn't help his chances that FSU is back on top either.
  22. Tough question, as I think they can get a WC next year, then who knows in a one game playoff. I have to think they get somebody to fill out a nice 1-2 with Arietta, and the outfield cannot possibly be as bad next year.
  23. Yeah, odd considering the FO. Our future lineup is looking more and more like an Orioles batting order, but even younger and faster. It also why Russell could be such an important part of the order if he is what we think he'll be. His swing and approach seem to be less slump prone.
  24. I really think the Hogs finally win this week, as long as B Allen shows up at QB. We have had aTm and Bama beat before giving them away. We run for 250 today. Jim Chaney's a terrific coach. Very smart offensive mind and the players really rallied around him after Dooley was ousted at Tennessee. The credit is usually given to him for Jonathon Crompton going from an embarrassment at QB to a really solid player his final year. He has NFL experience too, so that'd be an extra draw. I can tell you that Arkansas fans for the most part wouldn't mind to see him go. I'm mixed so far. He gets credit for Allen's improved play, but there has been some questionable second half play calling this season. We lead the world in rushing, yet he calls only one rush on consecutive 3 and outs with a late lead vs aTm.
  25. How long is this TBS tv deal again? The booth is bad enough, but in between the epilepsy inducing camera shots, they didn't show one decent look at the Rouals scoring 2 or the runner trying to advance to third. Who the [expletive] cuts away to the fans twice while runners are rounding 3rd?
