  1. 3 months later, I still have no idea why the White Sox traded for Kimbrel. It wasn't a position of need, they weren't really blocking him from another close rival, and once they got him they used him about as poorly as possible. As I read somewhere recently, Kimbrel was the perfect TLR closer on a TLR team that never used him that way. Add that to TLR basically torpedoing Yermin Mercedes early in the year, and you wonder what TLR really added to the team this year. He took a championship contender and led them to coasting to winning a division where nobody else tried, finishing with the worst division winner record in the AL to cost them an extra playoff home game, then showing one inning of life in 4 playoff games. I wasn't necessarily the biggest Renteria fan out there, but I think he could have managed to do that with less controversy.
  2. Everything about this game, lineup, play style and coaching angered me. I hate that this happened, and was completely unnecessary.
  3. Lineup is...I don't get it.
  4. Maybe playing for a lengthy FG from a kicker that already missed 3 kicks today wasn't the best plan.
  5. Canada in a good spot for qualification, having already played at the US and Mexico and getting 2 points.
  6. Now we just need enough good health to have Adams-McKennie-Musah-Reyna-Pepi-Pulisic up front at the same time.
  7. Lost in most of this, Arriola has been the worst US player on tge field, again. Sure good to get 3 points and save legs, but he just gives nothing but energy. Zardes blows a 4th chance...
  8. Oh Zardes...
  9. And so Pepi can go Sunday Oh it's a tactically sound move as long as 2 goals is enough, which it should be. Zardes plays great hold up ball but is just abysmal with the first touch.
  10. Pepi out for Zardes, just so everyone can be reminded of what we've been doing at striker the past 4 years.
  11. And the Cubs finish 2021 with more October victories than the Cardinals.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, the Diamondbacks win their final 2 games to lose the #1 pick on a tiebreaker to the Orioles.
  14. [Really, the Lions should have had 3 and outs on consecutive drives. Smith turns his head there and has an INT at midfield instead of inside the 10. Sketchy roughing the passer call on the next drive, and the bulk of the Lions offense has been penalty aided
  15. Seven turnovers for Maryland today to 0 for Iowa.
  16. CONCACAF, everyone:
  17. Dalton, instead of taking a 5 yard sack on first down, sprints backwards to take a 15 yard sack and kill the drive. Can't fault them for going for it on 4th and 15, a FG doesn't do anything for them here.
  18. It's feasible that the entire NFC West is better than the entire NFC North.
  19. :Jamaica and Costa Rica came off as the weakest teams in the group this first week, and Jamaica was screwed by COVID restrictions, not having some of their best players. CR has 1 point from 2 home games so far.
  20. Rewatching the game, I can't believe just how badly the team's shape was for the first 60 minutes or so. Then they brought on Yedlin for Sands and put Adams in the middle, and they absolutely dominated from there.
  21. Ended up only being 2 total home victories this stretch, one for Canada and one for Mexico.
  22. I can't remember the last time the USMNT scored this much in a CONCACAF road game.
