  1. And with the win, the Cardinals are eliminated.
  2. Batting 6th, playing RF (9).
  3. I'd wager the great majority of the complainers would be singing a different tune had the Astros won one of the games. If they wanted to blame anyone, it should have been their owner for trying to wait out the storm and hold the games in Houston. If they had agreed to move the series right away, it would've gone to Tampa. By the time McLane finally decided it wouldn't work in Houston, it was already Saturday, and the only stadium that was 1) covered to prevent any rainouts, and 2) available Sunday and Monday was in Milwaukee.
  4. Yeah...Not only would Santana/Perez/Pelfrey not be a better front 3 than Harden/Dempster/Zambrano, but that's likely the worst front 3 of any team that will make the playoffs.
  5. But it was on the internet in multiple places. It must be true.
  6. I would be most pleased with a win tomorrow and a clincher on Saturday, as I'll be at both. :)
  7. I'll be at tomorrow's game. Coming into the season, I knew it would have been a longshot for the Cubs to clinch in this game (They would have needed a 12-game lead in the division), but I figured it'd at least still be a meaningful game. I also have tickets for Saturday. Yay for ticket drafts where most of the other guys are interested in Sox/Cubs tickets or summer tickets. :)
  8. The Cubs have not lost a game at Miller Park now since June 5, 2007. They've won their last 7 there.
  9. Depends mostly on the next 3 games. Win 2, and clinching at home becomes very likely. Win 1, and clinching at home becomes very unlikely.
  10. Fortunately, the Cubs can directly affect that as well next week.
  11. Well, and hope Houston loses once. Or sweep the Brewers and win another game the rest of the season.
  12. I heard the Cubs offered to play Saturday and Sunday in Tampa. Is that true? If so, the Astros owner is an idiot for not taking them up on that. He gave the Cubs 2 extra home games. I think McClane wanted to wait until Saturday to see if they could still play in Houston. By then, it was too late to get 2 games in Tampa, since the Rays are playing today. So, then, it was down to Milwaukee and Atlanta, really, and Atlanta was due to get rain yesterday and today, so Milwaukee made the most sense. It's too bad for Houston, but really anywhere they'd play the game neutrally, it'd be a virtual home game for the Cubs.
  13. The Cubs have a 1 in 1100 chance of missing the postseason. The Cardinals still have about a 1 in 24000 chance of winning the division, though.
  14. I thought Verlander did it in Milwaukee last year. That was Comerica Park in Detroit.
  15. What's the game score for this one?
  16. And yes, that is officially the first no-hitter ever thrown in Miller Park. By the Cubs. In a game the Brewers weren't involved in.
  17. Technically, all of those scenarios involves the Phils going crazy (unless 13-2 isn't crazy?).
  18. Average fastball for the night was just over 90 mph. He threw 51 fastballs, ranging from 87 to 94 mph.
  19. He was throwing FBs for 93 in the sixth tonight, so I'm not exactly sure where you're getting 88-90. He certainly wasn't struggling out there.
  20. That's impossible. (Assuming you're not including Philly in this scenario.) We can't clinch the division while there's still a team in our division we haven't eliminated yet. Yeah, they can't clinch the division without eliminating all the teams. In your scenario, the last team to be eliminated would be Houston.
  21. 7-9 here on out guarantees at least a play-in, and that's only if 2-3 teams play out of their minds and win out.
  22. I hear Chicago is nice this time of year...
  23. Latest word from Berkman is the hurricane already hit him.
  24. You neglect to mention that even if the Phillies went and played out of their minds over the last 3 weeks and caught the Cubs, the Cubs still make the playoffs unless the Mets pass them too.
