    In order to win, Japan would need to score 4 goals in regulation in a World cup final, which has only been done once in history. ..by the USWNT in this game.

    NL playoff odds are kind of hilarious looking, with 5 teams currently sitting at 75% or better odds of the playoffs. Only two other teams have a greater than 10% chance.

    John Isner just forced a 5th set at Wimbledon with Marin Cilic. I'll check back with the match in a couple days to see how it's going.

    The game thread isn't going to be a paragon of great posting when an ostensibly in contention Cubs team doesn't score any runs. The people who come in here to congratulate themselves for not posting reactionary [expletive] are pretty annoying in their own right. If you hate these posts so much, start banning. Nobody's congratulating anything, just that 16 pages of predicting constant failure is pointless, and arguing that you can just [expletive] in a thread all you want until someone steps in and does something is just ridiculously stupid.

    Of course, they'll never score again, and the Cardinals will win 120 games and the Cubs will win 60 and every wish you all have in this thread will come true. And you'll all be perfectly miserable, still. But right, so you can have that.

    I don't think I've ever seen so much negative reactionary crap in a game thread where the opposing team hasn't even scored.

    The management is really not putting any investment on the senior team, aren't bringing in any big players or doing anything to keep their good senior players. They're solely focused on developing through their youth program and trying to win solely with internal resources, which isn't keeping up with the rest of the league.
