    How is a cold streak "imploding?' He has literally no hits, though a bit of hard contact? Still not encouraging, and he hasn't driven the ball all game. He struggles at times on the road, and going back to the final week of the season he's in one of those periods. It's not like he's falling apart out there. It's melodramatic nonsense. Ski's title line should just read "melodramatic nonsense".

    Sure, it doesn't always reward the best teams or put the best teams in the best positions to win, but no playoff does. If the best team winning is all you want, then just hand a trophy to the Cardinals and be done with it.

    looking at the records of all of these teams and then seeing the cubs as a road team in the wild card game makes me mildly irate. Just because the 95-67 Royals have home field advantage throughout the playoffs and the 97-65 Cubs can't have home field advantage in any round?

    Also, I know the Cards stopped trying a week ago, but the Cubs ended the season just 3 games out of first place, which is the closest they'd been since May.
