  1. Neither of these teams are good at pitching. Someone should let the Jays hitters know.
  2. Note: reminder that perhaps the smartest thing Maddon did was to pull Hendricks and Hammel after two times through the order.
  3. No sense of urgency from the Jays manager. Making Ned Yost look like the smart manager in the series.
  4. Thanks for being civil. You've got a very good team. It should be an exciting series. Tim you fell for the oldest pickpocket trick in the book! Hey, even if he heel turns, he gave it more than 15 minutes.
  5. Why be confident in the Cubs? Because we've spent 167 games focused solely on chasing the Pirates and Cards, and now that they are out of the way, we look up at the rest of the league and realize that the Cubs are the best team left. Random playoffs are random of course I but all any team can do is give themselves a chance and make it the best chance possible with the best team.
  6. 1 is Thor and 1 is Hendricks? Correct.
  7. Agreed on everything but rotation. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=sta&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 Well Snydergaard wasn't in the rotation the first couple of months and Harvey was shut down for a few starts right? Lester still has better metrics than Harvey, and Hendricks's and Syndergaard's metrics are closer than you might think. The Mets have the advantage at 5th starter, which is irrelevant now. The gap is bigger if you just take 1-4.
  8. Pitcher A: 9-7, 9.96 K/9, 1.86 BB/9, 1.14 HR/9, 3.25 FIP, 3.1 WAR Pitcher B: 8-7, 8.35 K/9, 2.15 BB/9, 0.85 HR/9, 3.34 FIP, 3.4 WAR
  9. Agreed on everything but rotation. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=sta&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  10. Cubs have a better rotation, bullpen, offense and bench, both at the top end and depth-wise. The Mets are better than they were in June, but so are the Cubs.
  11. I am slightly amused, though, that the Dodgers basically lost the game because they fell asleep during a defensive shift on a walk.
  12. Cubs will have the better starting pitcher by WAR and xFIP in 5 of the 7 games.
  13. Oh, how will I ever find a way to hate the Mets again...
  14. Man, if Utley ties it here with a HR.
  15. Really want to see Familia get an AB here.
  16. Don Mattingly, everybody. He's probably trying to get a hold of Kirk Gibson to see if he's available to PH.
  17. Astros' bullpen catcher does really cool things after Astros are eliminated: http://deadspin.com/astros-bullpen-catcher-gives-away-gear-after-being-elim-1736797090
  18. he pisses on his hands? No, he threw a temper tantrum about an insignificant event that caused the whole inning to unravel and blow the series.
  19. if you think about it, the Mets are like the 2003 Cubs. And the Cubs are like the 2003 Marlins. And Kyle Schwarber is like 2003 Miguel Cabrera And John Lackey is like 2003 Moises Alou.
  20. Familia going two innings here? What's the end game for the Mets? Harvey for an inning?
  21. My 8 year old son was rooting for the Cards to force a game 5, because he wanted more win or go home games, since the wild card game against the Pirates was so fun to watch. I told him that one win or go home game for the Cubs is enough for one playoffs. Let the other teams have theirs.
  22. Best case scenario is the Dodgers tie it and Kershaw pitches again and both teams use all their pitchers.
