  1. How do you score just 14 points against this Bengals defense? That's just unfathomable.
  2. Well I finally feel okay about the secondary. Front seven, though...
  3. Honestly the best example of the conference championship being unnecessary is probably Ohio State, both last year and this year potentially. Last year, they lost to Michigan, fell a couple spots in the playoff, and then ran through everyone to the title having played one fewer game than most. This year, they could probably lose to Michigan and still get a bye, making the conference championship even more pointless for them.
  4. "Coach, I don't remember getting concussed." "That just tells me it was really bad."
  5. I think the thing I like most about Ben Johnson this year is the Monday press conferences, after he's had a chance to look at the game tape. Level of expertise and understanding I haven't seen in a Bears coach since....?
  6. Caleb Williams has had 4 games this season when he's completed over 60% of his passes. In those games, the Bears are 1-3.
  7. Very real chance the Eagles will be playing with a chance to clinch the NFC East next Friday.
  8. With their OT loss to the Lions, the Giants are the first team eliminated from playoff contention.
  9. The Steelers D was vulnerable to the pass, pretty good against the run, lots of sacks. Most impressive was the Steelers getting just a single QB hit all day (which was unfortunately in the worst spot possible)
  10. It's going to be hilarious next week when the Bears somehow win by 1 and still end up with a negative point differential on the season.
  11. Somebody is going to end up getting some nightmare Morocco-Norway-Italy draw, and I just hope it's Mexico.
  12. 10 games later, they did beat the Knicks and 76ers at home, and won road games at Denver and Portland, so they barely came out of it over .500. So, maybe they are a playoff team. They have a win against the 13-2 Pistons and are the only team to win in Denver thus far. Would still like to see them put a team away just once, though. The schedule will ease up significantly here in the next couple weeks, though, 6 of their next 8 games are against the dregs of the league, with their other games coming aganist the Heat and Magic, two teams the Bulls will be battling with for playoff positioning. Need at least a 6-2 stretch here to keep feeling good about them.
  13. Couple other fun stories in World Cup qualifying: - Scotland beat Denmark to win their qualifying group and make the World Cup for the first time since 1998. - Norway beat Italy (twice!) to win their qualifying group and make the World Cup for the first time since 1998. - Erling Haaland of Norway scored 16 goals in the qualification tournament, which is an insane number considering 40 of the teams in qualifying didn't score that much (including Switzerland, France, Scotland and Germany, who won their groups and qualified). It also means there's still a possibility that all 4 of the parts of the UK can qualify. England and Scotland won groups, Wales and Northern Ireland made the playoff.
  14. They've looked better lately, but today was just an unprecedented result. Worst defeat for Uruguay as far back as Wikipedia lists results.
  15. What's gotten into the USMNT today?
  16. The Athletic did an in-depth on the game starting at about 12 minutes in to this podcast, describing why Caleb's 16 for 32 was much better than JJ's 16 for 32. https://shows.acast.com/the-athletic-football-show-a-show-about-the-nfl/episodes/week-11-hangover-the-bears-move-into-first-the-steelers-stay
  17. If the playoffs started today, the Bears would be the 3 seed, and the Lions would miss the playoffs.
  18. The Chiefs are now 5-5, in 9th in the AFC, would lose tiebreakers for the division, and with LA, Buffalo, and Jacksonville for a wild card spot, and play the Colts next week. If they don't win that, they may have to win out just to make the playoffs, and still have games remaining against the Chargers and Broncos.
  19. THIS TIME FOR SURE
  20. Call me crazy but I really hope he tries to play through it next week and the Bears end his career.
  21. I mean, the Bengals game is the ultimate example of the Bears dominating on the field and not being able to get out of their own way to put the game away.
  22. To me, there are 5 tiers of teams right now: 1. Teams that are good and have the record to show for it: NE, IND, LAR, SEA, PHI, DET, BUF 2. Teams that have a good record but I'm not convinced they're any good: DEN, GB, CHI, PIT, TB, LAC, CAR 3. Teams that would be scary if they rallied to make the playoffs: KC, BAL, SF 4. Teams that are feisty, but won't make the playoffs: MIN, DAL, JAC, HOU 5. Teams that are just bad and are already racing for top 5 picks: ATL, ARI, MIA, WAS, CIN, CLE, LV, NYJ, NYG, NO, TEN
  23. I'm under no illusions that this Bears team is great, or even good. However, they're clearly better than half the NFC (ARI, NO, ATL, MIN, CAR, NYG, WAS, DAL), which automatically puts them in playoff contention. So that's fun.
