    There are not any other "kids" who are ready for the Bigs yet.... Williams as sucked at AAA Guzman has not been doing too well. and the Ryu guy has sucked too as far as i know. Who else is there that we saw in Sping Training???? no one. and theres not anyone who we didnt see in Spring Training that is blowing the minor leagues away.. so therefore there are no other kids to call up.dvdd127: If we are to get an ass-whuppon, would you rather have us get that whuppon w/ some unproductive veteren, or with some unproven kid?? I'll take the kid over the veteren in a season like this. I don't agree with you much, but I agree with you here. I want to see Guzman and Hill in the rotation for the rest of the season.

    Im loving this. Your telling me you wouldnt sign Howry or Eyre? I think he's just upset about the 3 year deals they got. Hendry didn't get the memo the first time he signed 2 middle relievers to 3 year deals, so he goes out and does it again last offseason. Plus, name me a good move he has done since the Nomar trade...I wish you good luck as he has done nothing productive over the last 2 seasons to make this team a contender for a division title. Howry and Eyre were solid moves. What team wouldnt want them in their bullpen? Hendry tried the entire off-season in 05 trying to deal Sosa. That is one reason he couldnt make a deal. Even though he drove Sosa's value all the way to rock bottom with the leaking of the video, saying how he was a selfish guy with the boombox in the clubhouse, ect...but besides that, he's a great GM and has done so much to have this team contending. I'm not complaining about getting Howry and Eyre, but he overpaid for them, no matter how much you want to think differently.

    Remlinger had a shoulder injury when he signed with the Cubs. Hawkins pitched in a dome stadium. Much different pitching in doors than it is out doors. So why was it acceptable to give those guys 3 year deals??

    I believe, and I may be wrong, but didnt several teams offer more money, and years for Howry and Eyre. As I recall, both Howry and Eyre were surprised at the number of years and contract figures they got from the Cubs. Neither was expecting those kinds of contracts. I could be mistaken in remembering this and other teams could have thrown comparable contracts at them, but I've seen this particular point brought up often enough by different people to make me believe I'm remembering it correctly. I don't remember Howry, but I remember Eyre's agent was shocked at the deal Hendry offered...Eyre didn't think twice about signing with the Cubs. So what im hearing is you rather not have signed Eyre? You would rather have some random rookie going out their, like last year, and blowing a lead? I dont have a problem overpaying for 2 quality set-up men. Where did I say I didn't want Eyre?

    Daytona loses 4-0. Offense only mustered up 5 hits; 2 by Jonathan Mota. Peoria up 1-0 in the 5th. West Tenn up 1-0 in the 5th.

    Iowa barely holds on to win, 12-11. Ligtenberg gave up a 2-run homer in the 9th and also allowed the tying run to reach on a single with 2 outs. Thankfully, Andy LaRoche flew out to Buck Coats to end it. Pitching was not pretty for Iowa today. Randy Wells had a rough outing, going only 4 innings, allowing 10 hits, 6 ER's, walked 3, and struck out 1. Shipman pitched the 5th, allowing 3 hits, 3 ER's, 0 walks, and struck out 1. Chavez pitched the 6th allowing just 1 walk and struck out 2. Emanuel pitched the 7th, allowing just 1 hit. Ligtenberg pitched the final 2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 ER's, and striking out 1. Restovich had a nice day going 2/5 with a homer and 5 RBI's. Fontenot went 2/4 with a double, an RBI, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored. Ojeda was 3/5 with a double and 2 runs scored. McGehee was 1/2, but had 3 walks. Felix and Deardorff both were 1/6...Felix left 8 on base. Coats was 1/4, and Kopitzke and Hoffpauir added PH singles.

    Peoria lost 8-6. Yepez went 5, allowing 9 hits, 5 ER's, 2 BB's and struck out 4. Mueller allowed 0 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, and struck out 1 in 2 innings of work. Koerber blew the save and took the loss as he allowed 4 hits, 2 ER's, 1 BB, and struck out 1 in 2 innings. Yusuf Carter was 2/4 with two doubles and 2 RBI's. Valdez went 3/5 with a double and an RBI. Davy Gregg was 1/4 with a walk, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Ryne Malone was 1/5 with a double and Ryan Norwood was also 1/5. Mark Reed was 1/3 with a double and Blake Lalli added a hit for the Chiefs. Iowa scored 1 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, 4 in the 8th, and 3 in the 9th to give themselves a 12-9 lead in the bottom of the 9th. Ligtenberg is on the mound as he tries to close it out for the I-Cubs.

    Iowa loses 6-4 as Fontenot grounds out to end it. Nashville lost again, so the I-Cubs are still 3.5 out of 1st. They have had their opportunities to get 2.5 or even 1.5 back of them though.

    Mesa loses 2-1. Iowa now down 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th. Walrond gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to give Las Vegas the lead.

Carlos Rojas out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Chris Kinsey to second baseman Danny Richar. Tony Richie to 3rd. Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Eric Patterson replaces Edward Campusano. Chris Kinsey intentionally walks Eric Patterson. With Chris Walker batting, Eric Patterson advances to 2nd on defensive indifference. Chris Kinsey intentionally walks Chris Walker. Gary CatesJr. singles on a ground ball to left fielder Mark Reynolds. Tony Richie scores. Eric Patterson to 3rd. Chris Walker to 2nd. Campusano got the W as he pitched an inning and a third of scoreless work. Boise down 7-4 in the 7th. Mesa scoreless through 4. Iowa tied at 2 in the 5th.

    Ugh, Gallagher will get a ND as Atlee gave up the tying run to Tennessee in the top of the 8th. Campusano got the 3rd out of the inning, leaving the score tied at 4.

    Daytona only had 5 hits in their 4-0 loss...2 for Muyco, a double by Harvey, and one each for Mota and Sprowl. Peoria now down 9-1 in the 7th. Chiefs have just 3 hits through 6. Jaxx up 4-1 after 4. Boise scoreless through 1 1/2.

    Jaxx now lead 2-1 after 1 1/2 :) Cates doubled in the 1st and Dopirak singled to drive both Cates in and Chris Walker, who reached on an error. Gallagher allowed 2 more hits in the 2nd, but no runs.
