    Absolutely no control caused most of his problems, and the pretty bad defense behind him extended innings that exacerbated the problems. His main problem was that he couldn't get the fastball over the plate but it was drifting up and in consistently. His lack of control has concerned me the most. Even in his one start where he was somewhat good, against the Mets, his control was not there as he issued several walks. The Mark Prior of old usually had pretty good control. I hate seeing Prior struggle like this. I almost want to see him shut down for the year because it has to be just as embarassing for him as it is for the fans and the team.

    That game was one of the wildest games I've ever seen. Baker actually snapped in that game as well as he couldn't execute a double switch properly.

    Hm, I got 9-4 from the box on MiLB.com as soon as the game went final. It says 9-3 now, so I don't know what happened.

    Iowa wins 5-1. Walrond's final line: 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K's. Wilton Chavez pitched the final 2 innings allowing just 1 hit, no runs, no walks, and struck out 1. McGehee went 2/4 with a homer, a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Felix went 2/4 with a double, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Buck Coats went 2/4 with an RBI and a run scored. Restovich and Deardorff each went 1/4 with Restovich adding an RBI. Hoffpauir went 1/3 with an RBI and Ojeda went 1/4 with a stolen base and a run sscored.

    Lineups for Iowa: Pie, CF Coats, 2B Restovich, RF Deardorff, LF Hoffpauir, 1B McGehee, 3B Reyes, C Ojeda, SS Walrond, P Walrond gave up a leadoff double to a familiar name, Manny Alexander, but he retired the next 3 batters in the 1st.

    But you have to realize, Lelie isn't reporting to camp anytime soon, and he's a FA after this year I believe. It's a cap move and a team morale move. Fourth round picks aren't trash anymore (Nathan Vasher anyone?), and Michael Haynes has never been given a chance here in Chicago. It's definitely a better deal for the Bears, but it makes sense for Denver too. Talk about selling low...if Denver would've traded Lelie in the offseason, they could've gotten so much more for him rather than just a 4th round pick and Michael Haynes. Michael Haynes is a bust, plain and simple...I don't think a change of scenery will help him out that much. If I were Denver, I would probably request at least a 2nd round pick for Lelie.

    Ok, Denver would be idiotic if they did that trade. To get garbage in return for a solid #2 receiver does not make any sense.

    Daytona beat Tampa, 3-2 :) Perez got the win as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 ER's, 2 BB's, and struck out 4. Bronder pitched an inning and 2/3's of perfect ball, including striking out 1. Layden pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing a hit, a walk, no runs, and struck out 1. Schappert picked up the save as he pitched 2 innings of scoreless ball, only allowing 1 hit and 1 BB. Harvey and Ciaramella both went 2/4 with Harvey adding an RBI. Spears, Mota, Sprowl, and Alan Rick all went 1/4 with Sprowl and Rick adding an RBI. Matt Craig went 1/2 with 2 walks. Jaxx lose 5-0 :x Mathes took the loss as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 9 hits, 4 ER's, 1 BB, and struck out 5. Holdzkom pitched the final 2 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 ER, 1 BB, and struck out 1. Lewis and Rojas each went 2/4 with Rojas adding a double. Negron was 1/4 with a double. Scott Moore went 1/3 with a walk and EPatt went 1/5. Another tough loss for the Jaxx... Peoria down 7-1 in the 8th. Iowa up 6-3 in the 7th. Williams' final line: 6 IP, 7 hits, 3 ER's, 1 BB, 4 K's.

    The progress that Hurd made from his junior season to his senior season was unbelievable. Never in a million years during his junior season did I believe that he could become a guy that would catch passes from an NFL QB. He put in a lot of determination and hard work in the offseason before his senior season, and he was in top physical shape and seemed to care a lot more about the game. He had an outstanding season last year for NIU and he showed me last year that he had the talent to be an NFL wideout. His hands also improved as he dropped several passes in his sophomore and junior season, but I don't remember him having a key drop last year. I was really surprised that Sam wasn't drafted, considering how tall he is and considering how strong he is..he's definitely a guy that I thought could surprise some, and it looks like he is already doing that in Dallas.

    Boise lost to Eugene 10-1. Pawelek went only 3, allowing 5 hits, 2 ER's, 3 BB's, and struck out 4. Clipp went an inning and gave up 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 ER, walked none, and struck out none. Muldowney went 2, allowing 5 hits, 2 ER's, 1 BB, and struck out 4. Blevins pitched the final 2, allowing 1 hit, 1 ER, 0 BB's, and struck out 4. Boise's offense just managed 2 hits: a double by Camp, and an RBI single by Lansford. Colvin went 0/4 with a run scored.

    Daytona won 3-1 on a walkoff 2-run homer by Jemel Spearman! Bicondoa went 7 1/3, allowing 5 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB's, and 12 strikeouts. Layden got the win as he pitched a perfect inning and 2/3's, including striking out 2. Spearman was 1/4, with the game winning 2-run homer. Ryan Harvey was 2/3 with a double, a run scored, and a stolen base. Alan Rick was 1/3 with a double and an RBI. Nate Spears was 1/4 with a double. Culpepper was 1/3 with a stolen base.

    Have fun.. Daytona up 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Petrick having a real good start: 5 IP, 5 hits, 0 ER's, 0 BB's, 5 K's. Simokaitis is 3/3, Alan Rick is 2 for 2 with a double. Ciaramella has added 2 RBI's and Nate Spears has added a double. Jaxx down 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th..Pignatiello on, as Serena mentioned. Peoria up 3-0 in the 4th. Yepez through 3: 3 hits, 0 ER's, 2 BB's, 3 K's. Valdez is 2/2 and Garcia has a double and 2 RBI's. Iowa is tied at 1 in the bottom of the 5th. Walrond has pitched 5, allowing just 2 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB's, and 4 K's. The one run came on a homer. Iowa only has one hit; a leadoff single by Felix to start the game. He then stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored on a sac fly by Hoffpauir. Since then, there's hardly been any offense at Des Moines. And now I'm out :)

    That might be enough to get Hollandsworth back. Maybe Jaime Navarro. Oh, I forgot...........when posting a trade I should overvalue whoever the Cubs are trading for and undervalue the Cubs prospects......... my bad! Jerome Williams is a 24 year old that has MLB experience and decent stuff. Angel Guzman is a 24 year old that has MLB experience and GREAT stuff. Theriot is a good player. He's also young and cheap. Berg is a 22 year old with decent upside. Atlanta develops their prospects as well. What do some of you guys/gals think it will take? I can't wait for the Prior/Pie/Guzman/Brownlie/Petrick/Veal.........etc. I don't think a package of Williams, Guzman, Theriot and Berg comes close. Williams is viewed as a big question mark. Though he's young and has shown some promise, there are as many draw backs with him as there are strenghts. He wouldn't be the centerpiece. Guzman's injury issues and inconsistent performance this year would lower his value. Theriot, while I like him, is viewed as major league utility guy and not a starter. Berg may have some upside, but he's a throw-in here. If the Cubs trade for Jones, one marquee name will be in the deal and it will Pie. To think a deal will happen without Pie being a part of it is dreaming. As I said, I expect Pie, one pitcher of Guzman, Marshall, Hill, Marmol and then one of a Gallagher, Veal, Paweleck. Might it not be that much? Maybe. But it will include someone that it hurts to trade, and likely two or three players that it will hurt to trade. We won't get this done with a bunch of "maybe" prospects. You read my mind.

For all your positives, I could list all of the negatives. Williams has struggled all season and has been in AAA most of the season. He has struggled there as well as he was even demoted to not even starting every 5th day for quite some time in Iowa. Guzman, I believe, would have to be part of a deal to get Jones...even though he has had injury woes in the past, he still does have great stuff like you said and I believe he would be part of a package. Theriot is probably not going to amount to anything more than a decent utility man in the bigs. I don't think a franchise would trade an MVP for a package involving a utility man. Berg's decent, but he's only a mid-level prospect. He may get a deal done as a 5th or 6th piece (a filler piece if you will), but he will not be a main part to any deal involving Andruw Jones. It is going to take a lot to get Jones...they wouldn't budge on Boston trading Lester and Hansen, which is a pretty good package of prospects. The Cubs would have to at least start with Prior, Pie, and Guzman IMO.

    Well, the DBacks are leading the wild card. However, I'd say 15 of the 16 teams in the NL are pathetic.
