  1. wtf McGee?
  2. I'm going to the SIU/NIU game next, pretty pumped about it. Yeah, I'll be going there as well. And thanks a lot McGee.
  3. NIU's defense with 3 very good drives so far against Iowa's offense. The offense is struggling, though.
  4. YEAH!!!!!
  5. Appy State is one hell of a team, but there's no excuse for a top 5 team to be losing at home to a I-AA team, no matter what. That being said, go Appy!
  6. Vance should never be allowed to start game threads again
  7. Just an awful game. Hopefully the Brewers and Cardinals lose.
  8. Comparing Lee to Pujols is pretty bad. Lee has failed to make any adjustments on how to hit the pitches that are on the outside corner. It looked like he was doing a good job of that early on in the season, but now he's just looking at those pitches and is digging himself into bad hitter's counts almost every time he's up. I always found Lee as a stand-up guy and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't make an excuse for his suckiness the last couple of months. So anytime Len and Bob can stop making excuses for him would be fine with me.
  9. Glad I didn't see the carnage that Pence and Wandy Rodriguez have inflicted on us. Anyone who thinks our offense is manageable needs to get their head checked. Marshall pitched like crap today, but another day of not being able to hit the ball ultimately puts us in check again. And once again, another called third strike for DLee. He's not a #3 hitter.
  10. That was an extremely wild pitch. Come on you idiot. Get this other idiot out so I can go to class.
  11. It doesn't help that Marshall is Trachsel Jr.
  12. I wasn't impressed at all with Cherry. I think he'll just flounder between AAA and the majors for the next few years. But trading both Moore and Cherry for Trachsel is pretty absurd.
  13. has dekalb dried? From what I hear, it's still pretty flooded. And back on topic, Illinois State (supposedly top 10 I-AA team) lost to Drake (not even a I-AA football school), 27-24. I'd say that's just a little embarrassing.
  14. SIU beat Quincy 59-14. Next up is NIU next Saturday in DeKalb. SIU looks to make the second year in a row in which they have defeated a I-A school.
  15. Naturally you're back when there's less than a week remaining in the minor league season (excluding postseason). :P He's like the closer who gets credited for a save when he comes in for just the last out of the 9th. That's giving him too much credit. He's the closer who gets the save when he comes in to record the final out, with the tying run on deck.
  16. Runs scored/Game Cubs 4.60 NL Ave 4.64 average? yes sub-par? maybe pathetic? unjustifiable. Wrong. Keener's not referring to season totals. It's recently that matters, because that's when we stopped winning. In August the Cubs have scored 112 runs, that's 15th in the N.L. The offense is pathetic, period. Keener was griping about the offense "that our GM has assembled." Hendry assembled this offense in late July? More or less, the offense has been pathetic the whole season. When the offense was good in April, the bullpen was horrid. The offense has been about as pathetic as it can possibly be, ever since the All-Star Break.
  17. Ugh, I was hoping we'd be getting rid of a lower level prospect. I always felt that Rapada could have been a real good LOOGY for us. On another note, I wonder if Rapada goes straight to the Tigers bullpen.
  18. The Cardinal announcers were expecting Rolen's injury to be pretty serious.
  19. you're going to judge him on one night? every pitcher has a bad night. does webb suck because the padres scored 5 off of him last night? he must not be the diamondback's best pitcher by your logic. Zambrano hasn't been the best pitcher on the Cubs this season. Hill and Lilly have been better. This isn't entirely true. Hill and Lilly have been more effective on the mound. I wouldn't say they've both have been better pitchers. Weren't you against re-signing Zambrano to that contract and didn't you want Carlos Silva to replace him in the rotation? I don't know if he did, but if he did say that, what's that go to do with his statement? Because he's saying that Hill and Lilly aren't better pitchers than Zambrano but he is saying that Carlos Silva would be a better move for the Cubs than re-signing Zambrano. I do agree with him on the thread, though. Do we really have to overreact to something after every game? Zambrano didn't pitch great, but the offense didn't do anything to help him.
