  1. Houston wants to free up enough space where they can absorb two max contracts. Ok, but if they're gonna take on Asik anyway, by doing a sign and trade with us, they can get rid of Scola without burning the amnesty. They haven't officially signed Omer to an offer sheet yet. I think they're waiting to see what happens with the Howard situation before moving on to the RFA's.
  2. Houston wants to free up enough space where they can absorb two max contracts.
  3. Got it. Paying a backup center $15 million for a season would make Jim Hendry blush.
  4. Matching the Omer deal doesn't make any sense at all. Eventually, you're then going to have to make a decision on who you would rather amnesty between Omer and Boozer. While everyone is hoping Boozer is amnestied, that Omer contract in 14-15 is going to be asinine. He's going to be making more money than LeBron that year. You would think that he'd be the logical candidate to be amnestied that year, but everything that I've read suggests that Boozer would be amnestied before that. So you're going to amnesty a guy that is actually somewhat useful on offense and then pay a backup center $15 million? In an ideal world, the Bulls don't match the Omer deal and Boozer is either amnestied after next season or 2014. Then you have quite a bit of cap space to play with in 2014 for that FA class. I don't think Love is a pipedream when he's a free agent, but I have no faith in GarPax to execute a trade before his current contract ends.
  5. What other stat evaluates how well a goaltender performs? It's not a perfect measurement, but it's the best one for a goalie. He was one game away from winning a Cup last year and the Canucks scored a grand total of zero goals in Game 7. He had some stinkers in that playoff run, but he also had some extremely superb performances as well. He's also the reason why the Canucks beat the Hawks last year in Game 7. His postseason record obviously has some flaws, but I don't think he's a mental midget. Get him in a different uniform and I bet that choking nonsense subsides. He's the best option that's available right now, and it's not even close. If the Hawks were serious about going after Brodeur, they should be extremely serious about going after a guy who's much younger, and much better right now. It only makes sense.
  6. Luongo's postseason career save percentage is .916. Not great, but that's pretty solid. Let's take a look at some other premiere goalies to see how they stack up against that: Cam Ward: .917 Carey Price: .907 Pekka Rinne: .916 Marty Brodeur: .919 Henrik Lundqvist: .917 I believe Luongo has the 9th highest salary for a goaltender as well. I think Luongo's a top 5 goalie in the league, so I think the contract details are overblown. He's not going to play through the end of his deal either, as already pointed out. If there's a deal to be made, you make that deal. He's a tremendous improvement over Crawford and you instantly become a Cup contender again. As long as one of the worst goalies in the league is in net, the Hawks have no shot of winning a Cup.
  7. Omer's a decent backup center, but you can find another guy that can play defense with literally no offensive game to speak of for much less than $8 million per season. I don't think this is a tough decision at all.
  8. Yeah, that was my reaction to that as well. What an ass.
  9. Which is why I'm completely fine with trading for Dwight Howard, even if he were to leave after next season. The worst case scenario is that you're left with Derrick Rose and a whole bunch of cap room for 2013.
  10. I was much more upset when the Lakers were winning titles than I was last night. I think part of that was due to the fact that it was a foregone conclusion that Miami was going to win the title after Tuesday's game. I echo the 'Wade is more unlikable than LeBron' sentiment too. It's not really close from my perspective either.
  11. I've thought that same thing for about a month now. I think Francona's going to be the manager in 2014.
  12. The chances for a top 2 pick are looking better and better each day.
  13. I thought at a minimum, Pacquiao won 10 rounds tonight. The fix was definitely in.
  14. Well, that settles that. Go Thunder. Condolences, imb.
  15. The good thing about re-signing Oduya is that it should mean Hjalmarsson is gone. There's no way they can possibly tie up that much money to some very mediocre defensemen, right? Oduya and Hjalmarsson are making well over $3 million and Montador is one of the pricier third-pairing defenseman in the entire league.
  16. Yea in your butts. BURN
  17. I don't disagree with that. I guess what I'm saying is I don't know how far the Bulls can go depending on a guy that was severely beat up this entire season to take them to championship status. Nobody knows how Rose's knee is going to hold up. It could be completely fine and he might not lose a step at all when he comes back. It could slow down his explosiveness, forcing him to change his game much sooner than he otherwise would have had to. With modern medicine, I'm inclined to believe that he'll come back without a hitch. Still, the possibility exists that he might not be the same guy that we saw last year and this year, when he was healthy. Rose's health in the future is ultimately my biggest concern about this team heading forward. They're not going to blow the team up or gut anything, nor should they. I'd just like a guy that can actually drive and get to the hoop because outside of Rose, the Bulls don't have a single player on the team that can create their own shot. They easily would have won this series if they just had somebody like OJ Mayo. It took me until 2008 for me to realize that the MLB regular season is basically meaningless, so I'm a slow learner. Nothing like spending several months in first place only to be out of the playoffs in three days! I'd argue that the NFL's regular season is meaningful just because you're not allotted many chances for error, but I could see the argument how that's not meaningful either when 10-6 and 9-7 teams are winning the Super Bowl.
  18. Did mj get blown out in a game 6 of the first round? The Jordan boner you have combined with your Kobe hatred is hilarious. And I'll answer your question with one of my own. Did MJ ever win a Game 6 of the first round? This is specifically a question for cubbyvirus, right?
  19. This series made it extremely evident that the rest of the team is just filled with role players. You can't compare Deng and Noah to guys like Wade and Bosh. There's such a gigantic drop off from the Bulls best player to their second best player. That needs to be addressed. At least this year (and last year somewhat) taught me that the regular season doesn't mean [expletive]. I'll make sure not to get frustrated at all from November until April next year.
  20. I think Brewer's the most likely out of the three that are gone.
  21. There was a coaching problem on the staff with the PP/PK units. Yep. I'm not going to shed a tear if Quenneville leaves for Montreal. I've always thought that the shortcomings on the special teams units were Quenneville's fault as opposed to Kitchen's. After all, he is the head coach. That said, Bowman's more of an issue than Q is.
  22. Hopefully it eats at GarPax to try to add another big piece instead of just having role players compliment Rose.
  23. And we wouldn't have done the same thing if the Bulls beat Boston without KG a couple years ago? Come on.
  24. [expletive] refs.
  25. Nice of Luol Deng to step up and play like an All-Star in Rose's absence.
