This is very much true. At this point, I'd probably re-sign Dempster. I think he will be pretty affordable. The Cubs potentially lose Harden, Lilly and Marquis after 09. That leaves a rotation and Zambrano and ? The Cubs aren't going to get Sabathia or the like. Even if Dempster isn't as effective as he was this year as a starter, he should still be around league average at worst. Worst case scenario, you have a pitcher with some pretty good success as a short reliever. No, but it's fun to dream...it's fun to dream. I think Derek Lowe could be someone that we would have interest in. A groundball pitcher at Wrigley? Count me in. -

Ah, I KNEW something was missing from the college football season. Now with that post, the college football season is complete and I can enjoy the rest of the season in peace. Why is it a bad idea to judge stats in baseball when you have a small sample but when it's football, it's alright? They're two completely different sports. In football, everything is a small sample size because there's only 12-13 games where in baseball there's 162. I understand the sample size in baseball thing, but the sample size in football is the entire regular season. But how do you get a proper, clear idea based on W-L of such a small sample? Team A in a BCS conference has 0 zero losses. Team B in a BCS conference has 1 loss. Team A should be ranked ahead of team B. You can only control who you beat on your schedule. The Big 12 is better than the SEC anyways. I agree on everything except the schedule part because we all know you can control your OOC portion. That being said, the best team that Florida played out of conference was a pretty bad Miami team. Oklahoma State's best OOC game was against an average Houston team. Okie State has scored over 50 points in all of their games except the opener (where they scored 39) and tonight. I know Meph will disagree, but at worst I believe the Big 12 and SEC are equal. I'm really not seeing where it's such a bad thing to have the Cowboys ranked over Florida.

BYU and Utah haven't lost a game. Those others have. That's what polls go by, not who's better than who. which is why the BCS was invented, because the polls are horrible and wrong No one's saying they're not. But as of October 11th, 2008, BYU and Utah deserve to be ranked higher than those teams. they dont deserve to be ranked higher because theyre not better football teams. rankings are supposed to rank teams by if the two teams played the next day on the field, who would be better. As evident by your Meph polls last year when you had a 3 loss Florida team over several other 1 loss teams that were more deserving. How did that work out for Florida last year? Everything in college football (for the most part) is all speculative. You can say one team is better than another, but there's so few games that you really can't tell who would win a game one on one. I'm not saying the ranking process is necessarily fair, but that's just the way it is. An LSU team that lost 30 points to Florida should not be ranked ahead of an undefeated BYU and an undefeated Utah team. That just doesn't make any sense. Down with the non-BCS schools!

Who has Okie State lost to this year? They went on the road in a very hostile environment at night and beat Missouri. Florida had a very impressive win, no doubt. Take care of business against Ole Miss and you won't have to worry about rankings.
