They are constantly saying that LeBron doesn't want to be known as the guy who cherrypicked his titles, so he has to come there and get in on the ground floor with them. By no means am I saying he'd be doing that. I just think the worth of the titles get diminished if he's doing it alongside Wade in his town. It's similar to the situation Kobe was facing. A good majority of people were claiming Kobe couldn't win a title by himself. The last two titles that Kobe and the Lakers have won are easily the most rewarding to him. I think a similar instance would happen with LeBron. No matter where LeBron goes, he's going to win at least one championship. Top two players in the NBA don't go titleless, unless you're going up against Michael Jordan of course. We don't know what's going through LeBron's mind but as a guy that said his goal is to become the most renowned athlete ever, he might want to go to a team or city where he's the number one guy. Miami is D-Wade's town and will be his even if they were to get LBJ. Again, just my opinion. All in due time, though. 11:00 on Wednesday night needs to arrive.

Winnning 5 is always better than winning 3. This is the same logic that makes Knicks fans think it's good that their team is awful. How is that really comparable to what Knicks fans say or do? There's no other big four sport where individual legacies mean more than what they do in the NBA. Good luck establishing your own claim to fame by being in D-Wade's shadow. If LBJ goes to Miami, he almost certainly will be Wade's partner in crime and not the other way around.

LeBron's legacy takes a hit if he goes to Miami over Chicago. What's the more lasting impression - winning 5 titles with a top 3 player in the league on the same team? Or winning 3 titles with a guy that, from all accounts, would gracefully accept a sidekick role in Rose? Those title numbers are obviously completely arbitrary, but I think it's more meaningful for LeBron if he branches himself off and does his own thing. Of course I'm extremely biased, but individual legacies mean a ton in the NBA. LeBron prides himself on being an NBA historian. He's not a dummy.

Well, there's a difference between signing 3 max guys, and the Heat signing LeBron, keeping Wade, and maybe pulling off a S&T for Bosh. I don't know if it still wouldn't be enough to get those three, but there's a distinction. The problem with a S&T is that the Heat don't have any players, let alone players to deal in a trade.

How can the Heat afford three max contracts? We know the Bulls, as of right now, can't even offer two. Likewise, Miami can't offer three. Plus, Pat Riley just said the other day that they can't sign three max guys.

At the end of that report, he apparently said, "I think I'm right. At least I hope I am." That sure sounds real convincing..

They're mad at Zambrano for having dinner with Ozzie last night? Sure the timing was bad but are they really going to get on him for that? You can be upset at Z for a lot of things. Eating dinner with Ozzie Guillen isn't one of them. -
Agreed. I don't actively hate on soccer and I like watching the U.S. games in the world cup but I can't get into anything beyond that. I know the diving and faking of injuries is something soccer fans are forced to live with but it just kills me. I'm the same way. I knew the dives in soccer were bad, but holy hell were they on epic levels today. While it's less frequent and their are fewer, they did exactly what NFL teams have done for years to to slow the Colts offense down (especially in two minute drills). Right. I was trying to think of another situation of one of the more popular sports in this country. The only time you really see any of that stuff happen is in football when the defense is faking an injury going up against a no-huddle offense, or when you're out of timeouts and you pull up lame with an "injury." But comparing those instances to what we saw today really isn't all that comparable. You see that every now and then in football, but not in every single game. There's always some sort of flopping or diving going on in soccer. That said, I enjoyed watching all of our games. I don't really have any other interest in any of the other World Cup games, unfortunately. I'll go back to playing FIFA now.

Pietrus and Gortat are good bench options, though. So not only are you saving money and perhaps getting enough money to where you can get a second max FA, but you also get an additional body and two guys that can make contributions off the bench.

Ideally that Deng for Pietrus/Gortat rumored trade would save us 500k instead of cost us 300k There you go. Make that trade and ship off Johnson for a future pick. Problem solved.

Well, probably not the case at all, but ok. It would sure seem that way, no? In what way do the White Sox have a better lineup or rotation than us on paper? They have a better rotation on paper.

Zambrano's antics were cute at first. It's 2010 now. The guy still hasn't grown up and he's regressed considerably. Jackass might be too kind to describe him right now.

Pierre started off the game with a double past Lee that he could've gotten a glove on, but didn't. White Sox then swarmed Z for four runs in the inning, and Z yelled at Lee in the dugout. I'm still not sure that was even the case, since it was by no means a routine play for Derrek Lee. Z may have just been acting like an idiot because he was upset with himself and maybe Lee stood up to him. It seems to be all speculation at this point. You give way too much credit to Carlos Zambrano.

Hendry won't fire him, and it wouldn't help. What we need is a fire sale. I want both. Hendry's a lame duck GM, though. I don't think an all-out fire sale is coming. If ownership calls for it, I'm not sure he'll have much of a choice, other than to resign. And an all-out fire sale isn't realistic, with some of the contracts the Cubs have. But shipping Lee, Lilly, Silva, Theriot, Nady and maybe Fukudome would be helpful (for next year). Absolutely, I'm all for a complete overhaul. That's really the only thing I'll accept at this point. Nobody knows the Ricketts well enough yet, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It's completely obvious that this team is dead in the water, though. There's no resurrection coming here. I don't know how the Sox did it, but just because they somehow overcame their terrible start doesn't mean we are. There's just nothing to really like about this team, outside of the outfield and Marmol. Everyone else can go and I wouldn't shed a tear.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be very hard to work out a sign and trade to make up the difference. For instance, Toronto wants a sign and trade for Bosh, it wouldn't be difficult to offer preferably James Johnson but if not Taj Gibson and a 1st round pick as their compensation for helping us sign Bosh at full max value. Prior to yesterday's trade, we'd have had to beg them or a 3rd team to take Deng or Hinrich, which wouldn't make any sense for Toronto. Also, between now and July 8th, we could probably find a taker for James Johnson. I still think we're short dollars wise in that scenario. Any first round pick we trade isn't going to help our cap number and Gibson/Johnson don't make enough. I don't think even Gibson AND Johnson make enough. Pretty sure I saw that if James Johnson is shipped out, we'll have enough for two max contracts. First round picks make around $3 million, I believe.
