  1. someone running on the court would be the only thing that would make that game remotely interesting Oh yeah, because those Heat have been so unbeatable this year. Especially on the road.
  2. I bet a rivalry would not take long at all if they were in the same division. I think LA is looking at a couple teams, and I would hope they wind up taking the Jaguars. Minnesota may only be about the stadium ploy. Maybe, maybe not. I think it'd take quite some time for them to reach Vikings/Bears level for most Packers fans. But then again, we had a pretty solid rivalry with Tampa near the end of their run in the Central, so who knows? I've thought all along that the Jags made the most sense for LA.
  3. I'd love STL in the North, just for the simple fact that I could go to a game once a year without having to pay a ridiculous amount for tickets. But yeah, I can't really see a rivalry building between us and the Rams anytime soon.
  4. Buff's one of the alternates too.
  5. I saw a tweet from the Big 10 dude on ESPN saying that the Outback Bowl was still considering Illinois.
  6. Chillar and Havner both to the IR. Tramon Williams gets a well-deserved four year extension.
  7. Reporters ask questions, but why ask that one? Why not ask more questions about the game and why the Cardinals lost and how they can improve? Why does it matter that Lutui told a joke and Anderson laughs at jokes? I just don't get the point in asking that particular question. I don't have a problem with the way the reporter asked the question. You're right that it was asked in a respectful manner, but that doesn't mean anything could have been gained by asking the question. The first question was fine. The follow-ups were pretty bad, though. It seemed like a fan found his way into the press room and just started blatantly provoking Anderson.
  8. Morin re-called, which means Hossa's probably out tonight.
  9. Championship.
  10. Yes, please. Go Falcons too.
  11. Throwback Sunday. Get a win.
  12. Quite a few Packers fans seeing that scenario play out too, except with us instead of the Bears. I'm not buying it. I think both the Packers and Bears are better teams than the Giants and Bucs. We'll see if that's proven over the next month.
  13. Lebron was always looked at in such a positive light, always said the right things, did the right things, etc. Then came The Decision and he hasn't said or done anything right since then. I think that quite a bit of what Dan Gilbert said at the time of his departure must have had some merit to it. No one seems to be protecting him at this point and it's been "foot squarely into mouth" ever since he left there. His rep has changed more than any player in any sport I can remember, in such a short period of time, without doing anything criminal anyway. Favre? I think Favre and LBJ are the same guy.
  14. He is. I think Briggs might be one of the more underappreciated players I've seen. He's been the Bears best LB for quite some time now.
  15. This is true. Heck, I'd almost rather have the 5th seed then win the division with the 3rd seed. Either way you are playing on the first weekend and either way, you are playing on the road in the next round and likely the next 2 rounds. I'd trade a home game against the Saints for a road game against the Rams or Seahawks anyday, and I don't care if both teams have good home records. Eh, I'm not so sure I'd hate to face New Orleans in Chicago in January. Getting to play GB two weeks in a row would be interesting as well....especially if both games were meaningful. I've seen that script before with Arizona. I'll pass. I have always wanted to see a Packers-Bears playoff game, but I'd rather wait until the NFC Championship Game for that.
  16. The bottom of the MWC is better than the WAC. San Diego State is also an up and coming program but that could die out if/when Brady Hoke leaves. Otherwise, I agree. Houston and SMU make a lot of sense for the MWC. That adds to the depth of the conference, but probably won't do a whole lot to actually garner consideration for a BCS bid. I do still think Boise's going to eventually wind up in the Pac-10, whenever the superconferences actually happen.
  17. What about Boise in the Big 12?
  18. Disagree. Because we won the 1st game against the Packers, the Bears can come into that Packers game, with a 1 game lead, tied, or down 1 game to GB and still be in a position where a win would give us the division and a loss would lose it for us. Even if we lost 3 of the next 4 games and limp into the Packers game at 9-6, and the Packers win 3 of their next 4 and come in at 10-5, a win in Lambeau will still win us the division. Now if we came into the game up 1 game and the Packers lost to the Lions and we beat the Lions and Vikings, then the game wouldnt matter as we would already clinch the division based on division record. If we came into the game up 1 game and the Packers lost 2 of their 3 remaining conference games (@ Det, SF, NYG) and the Bears won both of theirs (@ Det, @ Min), it would be the same scenario, except this time the Bears would win the conference record tiebreaker. We are in a pretty good position right now where as long as we win 1 more game, that last game will be necessary unless the Packers win their next 4. If we win 2 more games, that last game against GB is guaranteed to mean something. Yeah when I typed that my tiebreaker scenarios were off, I don't follow the schedule stuff much and just wait for others to break it down. I'll give it a little shot here though. The Bears screwing over their conference record is obviously bad news. If the Bears win against Det and Min, and one against the Pats/Jets they will be 11-4 going into Week 17. If the Pack lose only to the Pats they would be 10-5. If the Bears can't win in Lambeau then their division record evens up and the Pack win the division because of the conference tiebreaker. If I have that correct?, it seems like a pretty plausible scenario to me. That's correct. I think if the Packers and Bears both take care of business, both will make the playoffs and the Week 17 matchup would be for a first-round bye.
  19. Boise's still Pac-10/12/14/16 bound whenever they expand to 16 teams. I'd expect Houston to be on the MWC's radar right now. Maybe even SMU too. Is Boise State committed to the MWC for a certain term? Or can they just bail whenever the Pac 12 opens the doors? I'm sure they're probably committed for a couple of years, at least. But Fresno and Nevada were able to get out of their contracts with the WAC to join the MWC, even though that whole situation sounded really messy. I still think Boise makes the most logical sense, from an economic standpoint, for the Pac-whatever.

  21. I'm hoping to go to Detroit (yes, really) on Friday night. NIU is 15 point favorites against a Miami Ohio team that has significantly overachieved this season. This is probably the best NIU team since the Michael Turner year in 2003 when they started out 6-0 and ultimately wound up finishing 10-2. It's looking like NIU will make a return trip to Detroit for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. Hopefully they don't end up getting stuck playing some Sun Belt school.
  22. "I think it's slow right now. For seven years, we're used to having the ball. We talked a lot recently," said LeBron on meshing games with Wade. And then that quote, the one that followed the question about whether LeBron James and Dwyane Wade need to change their games. “No, I can’t change my game dramatically and I don't think he can either,” LeBron said. “It doesn’t make any sense to do that. I’m not going to.” He paused adding: “I’d just be a role player at that point.” This is excellent.
  23. Might be the best thing to happen to DePaul basketball and the Big East at this point. I can't see the point of having 17 basketball teams in the conference. That's immediately what I thought too. Get the hell out of that mess right now.
  24. oh my god At least he's getting paid. If he's feeling like that, I can only imagine how Brotzman's feeling like.
  25. So in other words, he'll be taking his talents to South Beach immediately.
