I have a drastically different opinion of the Packers roster. its solid, but I wouldn't declare it Super Bowl When healthy, I would say it is. The defensive depth has shown to be outstanding.

That's another reason why I just hope they fire him immediately after this season if we don't make the playoffs. I don't think it makes any sense to keep him employed where he knows he's fired if he has a bad season. Besides 2007, we usually get off to slow starts under McCarthy and I don't really see how that would help if we got off to another one next season. Playoffs should not be the benchmark. This team should make the playoffs by sleep walking through the season. The benchmark is Super Bowls. The Packers have a Super Bowl roster, but they don't have the man at the top to get them there. I think along with Dallas the GB job would be the most attractive to a Gruden or Cowher. Go out, hit the home run, come home with the Lombardi. That's another strike against MM. He's never made the playoffs in back-to-back years in Green Bay, which is pretty unacceptable. If we're going to fire Ray Rhodes for not making the playoffs in one season and Mike Sherman for not making the playoffs after reaching them in four consecutive years, McCarthy better not last much longer.

I think the injuries will save his job. It is interesting that we control our own destiny with two weeks left to play because even with all of the injuries, we still have two home games left on our schedule. I think there's a better chance he loses his job now than coming into the day just based on those events alone. It's still pretty unlikely that he's canned after the season. At the very least, I think he'd be on the hot seat for next year.

Gotcha. Didn't know that. Everything that happened today made a Bears-Packers matchup in the first round of playoffs A LOT more likely. I'm not sure about that. I haven't run all the scenarios, but the Bears have the tiebreaker over the Eagles....but the Giants would've had it over the Bears. Which means the Bears getting the 2nd seed is more likely after today than it was if the Giants had won. I guess GB is more likely to make the playoffs though, so I you're probably right...but I still think a Chi-GB first round matchup is a long shot. Hmmm...maybe I was off base here...if the Bears beat the Vikings and Jets, and Philly and GB both win out, it does look like Chi-GB is a possibility. Bears need to win out for the bye probably. Yeah, it's looking like that's the most likely matchup as of right now. But of course, that can all change in the blink of an eye.

What's the problem with McCarthy? He seems to have done a pretty decent job keeping things together even with all the injuries, aside from last week;s loss the the Lions. And that's not even looking that bad with their win @ TB today. Bad playcalling, not having the team prepared to play lesser opponents...it's been the same script for the last few seasons. His record in close games speaks for itself as well. I think Capers deserves more credit than anything because most of our injuries have occurred on that side of the football. I know we lost Grant and Finley on offense, which has hurt, but we've had far less to work with on defense this year. Somehow, we're #1 in the league in scoring defense despite all of our injuries. I'm really hoping some team doesn't try to hire Capers as a head coach in the offseason. He's completely revamped our defense and it shows.

No, but beating two playoff-caliber teams in back-to-back games won't be an easy task, even though both games are at Lambeau. Even if the Bears win the division before Week 17, they'll likely still be playing for the 2nd seed and a first-round bye in that game. Certainly no easy task. But its doable. Keeping Rodgers upright against the Giants and the Bears pass rushes will be a huge challenge. I know they're tough opponents, but there's no excuse not to make the playoffs now. If we don't, I really hope we see a coaching change.

You would also need the Bucs to lose one of their final two games or the Vikings to beat the Bears tomorrow, assuming GB loses at NE tonight. We have the tiebreaker with TB now since they lost to Detroit. Basically, we control our own destiny in the wild card race. We could control our own destiny in the divisional race if the Vikings win tomorrow (fat chance).

I couldn't stand Tebow at Florida, but I want to see him do well in the NFL. If that makes any sense at all.

both teams have a nearly identical point differential there's not much of a gap in terms of talent between the teams Still...Drew Stanton? I must say though. Almost beat Chicago. Beat GB. Beat Tampa. They've been a tough out. I don't think teams are ready for the fact that they're bringing it up front, especially on defense. That's what really hurt Chicago until they started short-passing their way through. Don't forget they should've beat us at Lambeau too.

It doesn't even really matter if we lose tonight. As long as we win the final two games, I think we're in. Unbelievable. I'm treating that Eagles win like a Packers win today.
