    The XFL was a great idea. The actual players just sucked. I wish McMahon would have done like the USFL and just thrown huge money at guys coming out of college. I would've paid to see Michael Vick run circles around people with 1/500 of the talent he has.

    Lol. I refuse to be a Stillers fan. I tried to support them this year, but my co-workers threw that out the window. They all were swearing the Steelers were going to lose vs. the Colts. Then when I went to work the following Monday, they were all like "we knew it". "We beat the refs too." And every single person one-by-one made fun of me for the Bears losing to Carolina the same day. From that day, I was 100% anti-Steelers. As for the Pirates, I could like them. I hope to catch quite a few games this year.

    I think that's an excellent team. You will get 20 HRs out of about 7 spots possibly. With guys like Wright, Helton, and Abreu likely over 30. Great speed in Figgins and Abreu. Freel could even get you some steals if you sit Johnson for a week or two. Only complaint I have is, Blanton shouldn't be on your bench.

    I always describe Guzman like this.....if he's on the mound, he's gonna be good. There's no question in my mind that he's just as talented as that group, who are all a notch below King Felix. I don't think that this is a make or break year in that he has to become a major league regular this year. But obviously, he can't afford any more surgeries or extended shutdowns. The AFL was encouraging. He was 3rd in the league with nearly 31 innings pitched. He still had a solid GB/FB ratio, IIRC. The K's were there. I honestly think he can stay healthy this year. He's still behind guys like Williams, Rusch, and Hill for the 5th spot. But if he makes it into the major league rotation this year, he's probably not leaving unless he gets injured again.

    I like the first team. You have great depth on the mound. Willis may or may not be clear #1 starter with that team around him. But Sabathia is a legit fantasy #2. And all your other starters can be #3 type guys. They will be pretty consistent, with few blowup games and few dominant games. Your offense has a few risks with Sweeney, Floyd, and Tek getting up in age and with past injury histories. Lopez and Lugo probably won't put up numbers like last year. And like Willis, Cabrera has a crappy team around him. You pretty much summed up the auto team. Wow! Trade early and often.

    If you hit Southwest at the right time, they have some rediculously low fares. (I'm flying to Chicago tomorrw to go to the auto show and have a great steak.) Drop me an email when you're coming. Maybe we can meet up for a beer. I'm actually living in (actually near) Da Burgh now. For a year and a half.

    Best stadium in the majors under 75 years old. Hey Jake, I'm gonna try to get to a few games this year (mostly when they are facing the Cubs). Don't know if I'm gonna make it to the April series though.

    I like that idea more I guess. Just to be on the safe side. put him there for about 50-70 innings then promote him late in the year. Problem is, the MWL season is over before the NWL season. If he's gonna start in Boise, he may as well finish there and get an extra week of work.

    I don't know. I'd probably keep him in Arizona for a month-to-month and a half and then put him in Peoria around mid-May. I don't think he should pressured to pitch 140-150 innings this soon. But Boise's season may be too short. Hopefully, he can get 100-120 innings, and be ready to up that by 20-30 innings in 07 at Daytona. That would still put him on track for late 08, early 09, which I think is reasonable.

    I love this team. I don't know why, sometimes I wish I didn't. But I love this damned team!

    I would absolutely be interested in Ty Law if he's available for a reasonable price. He wasn't great at the start of the season but as the season went on he played better and better. That Jets secondary was good and he was one of the reasons why. I think he'd be a great get if we could get him. Law has never been at a reasonable price.

    I thought Felix made great adjustments in A-ball. I would be interested to see how he does when he slumps at the ML level. Corey was able to show flashes of being able to hit everything in sight, but then starts to struggle and can't adjust. Felix was good at shortening his swing and laying down a bunt if needed.

    I think he will have more patience than Soriano, fwiw. But yeah, Soriano's the first person that comes to mind when I think of Felix.

    Hopefully with everyone in better shape, the pitchers will start covering 1st base on a regular basis.

    I don't know that that is true. Tejada over Cedeno is a good bet for 125-200 extra points in OPS. Basically, you would be going to the 3rd best player on the offense from what is likely to be the 8th best. That could make a difference in a huge number of games especially when you consider defense is at least similar, and everyone else in the lineup moves down a spot (i.e. Jones not hitting 5th). Now, if you want to argue that the upgrade isn't worth the salary difference or the players it would cost to get Tejada, that's a different story.

    Good deal for Weaver too. I think he could have gotten a little more by accepting the arbitration from LA, but he did well by NOT taking a 2-year deal. That would have been pointless and postponed what he hopes will be a big payday by another year.

    I know somebody who LOVES Kirk. Pax. I like Kirk a lot. I think he can be a franchise point guard. He just needs a bigger 2 guard so he doesn't have to always d the opponents best (and usually biggest) guard. Also a few consistent scoring options because he is ideally scoring option C or D. Agreed. Nothing's wrong with Kirk, but if the Bulls can get a legit piece of the puzzle for him, I'm with it. I think this team is 2 players away from being legit contenders. Hopefully, they can draft those 2 players this coming year. If not, I wouldn't mind packaging Hinrich and one of the top picks for a difference maker.

    Heh. I said that Ohio St. was a very good team back in the beginning of this thread. And everyone said that they wouldn't have the talent to make a run until next year. Now everyone's on the bandwagon. *note, I also said MSU would win and IU would take 2nd in the conference.

    His Hall of Fame credentials are based on how good he ONCE was; his lack of a job for 2006 is based on how good he NOW is. Just because a player can't find a job now doesn't mean he isn't a Hall of Famer. Ricky Henderson spent a few years in an independent league because he wasn't good enough to get a major league job anymore, but he's still likely to be a Hall of Famer. Rickey says Rickey can still play. Rickey still doesn't know why no one will give Rickey a job. Rickey knows that Rickey is the greatest! Rickey has to retire first.

    You can retroactive it to the last time he pitched in a major league spring training game. Yeah, that's what I meant. I guess, "whenever you want" was a little extreme.

    Yeah, but this is like the 3rd year in a row, where the schedule has been lopsided in the Cards favor. Of course, not like the Cubs had the talent to do anything about it.
