  1. On the bright side, the Cubs lead in hits and are tied with the Rays in RBIs!
  2. 3rd- K swinging, GO 6-3, GO 4-3. 3 IP, 1 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB, 3 Ks, 35 pitches, 25 strikes.
  3. MArshall's 2nd. Single, Line out SS, Stolen base, FC 1-5 Marshall throws runner out at 3B, GO 6-4
  4. Marshall with a perfect 1st. K swinging, GO 1-3, K swinging....11 pitches.
  5. Yeah, but you aren't part of the group of "teachers" that pushed hard to reach for him in the draft. I would be surprised if they didn't give Wolfe a spot this year. Oh to hell with it just snap the ball directly to Hester. All problems solved  They did once yesterday at OTA's. The players had all swapped jerseys, and Grossman and Hester swapped...so for one play, Hester played QB. That's a good idea, nobody will ever be able to tell them apart! The WR and QB on my highschool team switched jerseys for one game and we spent all game laughing everytime the PA guy said their names backwards. Sad when this is still funny in the 4th quarter of a game we lost.
  6. A kid I used to play pickup basketball and football with in my old neighborhood is on the men's 4 X 100 meter team. The funny thing is that he wasn't even the fastest kid I knew back in the day.
  7. Yep. I was strangely angry all game last night. That Houston series was similar. Pretty much all games in Houston are like last night. Cubs seem to suck there.
  8. Good job getting out of that by Sean. Shoulda been none scored.
  9. Holy crap! C'mon Jays!
  10. Exactly. And look at the discrepancy in the over vs. under .500 teams the Cubs have played. Rather do better vs. lesser competition, simply because there is more of it.
  11. Crawford, and Aybar, and Floyd, and Navarro, and Iwamura, and Hinske too. The lineup will be stacked with LH hitters tonight. And if they get on, they are gonna run. The Rays like to run, and unfortunately, I see them having some success on the Gallagher/Soto combination.
  12. Patterson, Marshall and Ceda for Burnett. Gives them a versatile top of the order type hitter. A LH starter with some experience and potential to break up their all RH rotation, and a potential power RH reliever, which they are lacking. I think that's a fair trade given Burnett's salary. If they want more, Gallagher, Cedeno, and Ceda/Marshall would work too.
  13. Could be an interesting lineup with no Johnson or Edmonds. Probably see the same group that ended the game last night. Fukudome in CF, Murton LF, Derosa RF, Fontenot 2B (he never played the field but PH for Cedeno). Yeah, Lee and Ramirez really need to hit with this group around them.
  14. Yeah, Sonnastine pretty much sucks. He's been worse at home. He's been very hittable early in the game. And he's been more hittable from the stretch with runners on base. Put your best 9 hitters in the lineup and try to blow this dude out early.
  15. I'm trying to figure out how a bunt was a good idea. Percival had given up a rocket single, a rocket double, walked a man, threw 2 pitches wildly, and the only outs he recorded were the hardest hit ball of the game and a strikeout on a 4A player. Johnson sucks vs. RHPs, but he still shoulda been swinging. At the very least, don't bunt on the first pitch against a guy who has had control problems to previous batters.
  16. If he could make the homestand to end the AS break, that would be great. Still, I would be tempted to let him rest til the break. He's not likely to be back any sooner than the Cincy series on July 8 anyway. That would be exactly 4 weeks from the injury.
  17. IU brings back a whopping 0.7 PPG and 1 scholarship player, who just earned his scholarship in January. There is no 08-09 season.
  18. Those poor baby Baybears having to face Veal and Ceda when they are on. That sucks for any minor leaguer. Veal with a pretty good K rate in the game, and 2:1 GB ratio.
  19. Aramis with a really crappy night.
  20. This is why you don't stack all RHs in any game.
  21. Dempster's at 75 pitches, so he has to really shut it down if he wants to be around long. At this point, I'm hoping for 6. After last outing, he can't possibly throw more than 110-ish.
  22. Wow. Whatever happens in this game. The Cubs have been great offensively today. Kaz has been a little wild, but this team has taken the approach at the plate today that has defined the 2008 season.
  23. I know I'm late, but you don't stack a lineup with all RH hitters. Fukudome and/or Hoffpauir (who hits LHPs pretty well) should be in the lineup.
