  1. Thomas went for 105 on 20 carries in last year's game (and 12 for 121 in the air!). Bush and McAllister were healthy in the playoffs the year before (though Thomas wasn't there), and they didn't run well at all. I think the difference is the Bears run D was good in 06, they were bad in 07. They are good again in 08. I don't see the Saints running much this year, though they should be able to run enough to make it worth their while if they choose.
  2. Cutler should start every week. And Caddy. I don't like any of those 6 options though.
  3. Two votes for Jackson? None for Turner? I'm leaning toward Turner actually. However, this is a PPR league and Turner does not factor in the passing game at all. He's good for a TD though. Do more to convince me of Jackson other than a hunch.
  4. I know it's risky, but I like Jackson's chances. I need to choose one RB between these two guys: Slaton vs. TEN or Jacobs vs. DAL I'd start Slaton. I don't think Jacobs is gonna play. If he does play, he will won't see a ton of time nursing an injury with the Giants already clinching the division. If anything, Jacobs will play a bigger role next week when home field is on the line vs. Carolina. This game is essentially meaningless for the Giants.
  5. this is why i've been saying that i'm worried about hendry and lou's obsession with adding a pricy lh bat like ibanez/abreu. to add one of those guys and peavy, he pretty much has to trade marquis. i think he's worried about the possibility of trading for peavy, getting stuck with marquis, and then not having enough money to get that bat. I know that's what he's worried about and I think it's stupid. If he could get rid of Sammy Sosa and Todd Hundley, he can get rid of Jason Marquis. If you want to get rid of someone enough, you can do it. Hendry has proven it himself.
  6. Ah, James Hendry. Has he not learned his lesson? Let Vlad go elsewhere because he had Alou in the last year of his deal. Let Beltran go elsewhere because he wanted to get rid of Sosa first. Let Tejada go elsewhere, because he had Alex Gonzalez on the last year of his deal. Don't let the same thing happen because of Jason Marquis. Do the deal that's on the table if it is a good deal and worry about Marquis later.
  7. I got a couple little dilemmas in my leagues. (3 leagues, 3 final 4's!) One league: 3 RBs. Steven Jackson, Michael Turner, D'Angelo Williams. Has worked to perfection all year as Jackson was one of the top RBs early. Turner was great in the middle. Williams has been great recently w/ Jackson hurt. Williams is a lock vs. a bad Denver D. But do I go w/ Turner vs. TB or Jackson vs. Seattle. On one hand, TB just gave up 300 yards to Carolina and looks vulnerable. On the other hand, TB is a good D and will be desperate to stop Turner.
  8. Get Dukes as well as and the heart of the '06 AAA Durham squad is back, that squad is legendary in minor league circles for all the wrong reasons. And the best part is none of their problems can come close to the problems of their "could have been" teammate, Josh Hamilton.
  9. We wouldn't need trading chips though if we got Peavy+Bradley. Plus, out of those six players, who at this point really has any value? Vitters, obviously. DeRo, but we're selling high. Cedeno isn't good, Hill has gone crazy, Marquis is overpaid, and Pie is a question mark. Yeah, that's horrible logic. About 90% of the short-season A ball team won't make it to the majors, so the Cubs should just trade the entire Boise Hawks franchise to San Diego too by that logic. The fact is, the Cubs would be losing 2/5 of their starting rotaiton from last year, their starting 2B, two of their projected bench players from this year, AND their #1 prospect....and would get 1 (albeit good) player.
  10. Yeah, that's a lot to trade. Something would need to come back to the Cubs, as all 3 of the other teams are getting great deals.
  11. Someone in the Mark Loretta, Ray Durham, Alex Cintron category, I would assume. I've said it a couple places now, but Clint Barmes is my guy for that spot. Good defender that has always hit LHP, in an overcrowded infield situation in Colorado with Atkins, Baker, Stewart, and Tulowitzki all competing for 3 spots. I'd like Barmes. He can play all the positions Derosa can as well. He has seen time in RF and CF in his career, and both as recently as the last 2 years. I don't imagine him in CF would be a good idea, but no reason he can't play some corner OF in case of injury or days off.
  12. If the Cubs give up Marquis AND Derosa, could they afford Peavy, Furcal and Bradley? Peavy's salary basically = Derosa and Marquis, assuming the Cubs pay $4M to whoever takes Marquis. If not, do the Cubs still have enough talent to get a cheap RF like Hermida? If not, does 2b/SS become a priority over RF?
  13. If the Pirates can get Delmon Young for Jack Wilson, they should do it ASAP.
  14. I made it in! And I will celebrate my playoff berth, by bowing out early and in blowout fashion!
  15. This is the ultimate "they are who we thought they were" game. These teams have faced in the Chicago cold in each of the last 2 seasons. Each time, Brees has brought a top passing offense and left with an L. I don't see either team as being much different from the teams the previous two years. Saints still don't stop the run well enough. Bears still need to force Brees into turnovers. I think the short week, travel and cold are going to be too much for the Saints to overcome. These teams are completely different, but are on the same level of being slightly better than average to good football teams. When the matchup is so even, intangibles such as those I mentioned should make the difference.
  16. Again, NO (a bad road team) has to travel to the cold weather, on a short week. The Bears should win the game. And no pun intended, but Green Bay may have "packed" it in already. Their season is over and are an inferior team to the Bears, 11/16 results aside. Houston does look tough, especially at home.
  17. Still rather have Hermida by far. Easily the most upside. Young, relatively cheap. Signing a guy like Abreu or Ibanez would be another long-term contract to go along w/ Aramis, Fukudome, Soriano, Dempster, Z, and Peavy. And they would still need to potentially replace, Harden, Lilly, Lee, and Derosa while giving significant raises to Marmol and Soto in the near future.
  18. Basically, the Bears can afford at most, 1 loss. However, that loss cannot be against New Orleans or Green Bay. A loss to either team and wins in the other 2 would mean there would be very little chance of the Bears winning a tiebreaker with any team based on conference record. Every team in the race plays at least 2 NFC games still. And the only way for the Bears to get a tiebreaker would be to get past the best conference record tiebreaker and go to common games. Because if the Bears lost to an NFC team, the team they would be tied with would have to lose 2 NFC games to get the tiebreaker to the next level, which would mean, they likely wouldn't be tied with the Bears in the first place.
  19. I think the Lions want to be 0-16.
  20. Dumbarse Lions go for it and fail. Could have gone up 6 close to the half against a team w/ no QB.
  21. Another stop. I think everyone felt a draw coming on there.
  22. That is amazingly, unfunny.
  23. Two straight great punts by Maynard. Would like to keep this field position and score once more before the half.
  24. 5 total tackles so far including that big one on 3rd down.
  25. Killer O's aren't bad either! Orton to Olsen. nickname is a work in progress.
