  1. I don't know about that, but Cotts is not a problem.
  2. Sign an OT in the next couple weeks and I love Duke in the 2nd. I'd still rather get a DE in the first (Ayres), rather than waiting for the 3rd. I think the 3rd round WR is closer to the 1st round talent than the 3rd round DE talent is to the 1st round talent. I'd take Iglesias, Louis Murphy, etc along w/ Ayres over DHB and a DE like Shaunessey (sp?).
  3. I think they think they did this. Apparantly they feel Bullocks problems were related to the largely man coverage he played in New Orleans and that he'll be fine in a cover-2 scheme. I actually forgot about Bullocks, but I don't think he's any better than Danieal.
  4. The one position I wanted the Bears to upgrade in free agency was FS. I don't see any rookie ready to step in and be a good FS on a good defensive team. Plus, I don't see any FS being worth the 18th pick, or any of the best ones being around at 49. I still think they will get a veteran OL to play RT, since they seem to want Omiyale to play LG. I'm sure they will go bargain shopping w/ a guy like Shaffer, but that should be fine. I hope they also draft an OL day 1.
  5. Too many other needs to pick White in the 2nd, and maybe even the 3rd. I understand the need to get better in short yardage situations. It was a huge problem for the Bears last year. But the best way to do that isn't to find a player to run gimmick offensive schemes. The best way to improve in short yardage is to get bigger and better on the offensive line. I'd hate to miss out on a DE, WR, or OL because of spending a top 3 pick on a QB who has serious questions on whether he can play that position. I think he can play QB and would be great in the wildcat as soon as this season, but then I go back to the Bears inability to show they can develop a QB like White. I'd rather go after a guy that has the QB pedigree and some upside like Bomar or Cantwell, who will be available much later.

    arod

Take Lincecum if he's available :) He was a keeper. I ended up with Arod and Holliday. Pretty happy w/ my team actually. C- V Martinez 1B- A Gonzalez 2B- Derosa SS- Drew 3B- Arod/Cantu til ARod comes back OF- BJ Upton (keeper) OF- Holliday OF- Bradley U- Ortiz SP- Halladay (keeper), Lester, Dempster, J Johnson, J Sanchez RP- Marmol, Devine. Figure when Arod comes back, I'll try to trade Papi for a 2B and SP and play Cantu at U.

I got at draft in about an hour. Keeper head-to-head league but you can't keep top 3 picks. I'm at 11 of 12 teams. If Arod is on the board, I'm taking him @ 11. I would wait til it comes back around at 14, but the guy who picks after me is a huge Yankees fan, and would most certainly take him. I figure among the top 10 will be (Hamilton and Longoria are keepers): Hanley, Pujols, Reyes, Wright, Sizemore, Teixeira, Howard, Braun, and Santana. In addition one of Utley, Rollins, Cabrera, Beltran, Holliday will be gone. So, I'll probably have my choice of 2 of those guys or Arod and 1 of those guys.
  8. I'm very happy U of I won the same number of tourney games this year as IU! I picked them to win, but lose to Gonzaga, so I don't really care bracketwise either.
  9. I agree. They should never have told him he could be the number one receiver. Why would you want to move possibly the best returner in NFL history out of that position? This one is on Lovie. Maybe because you want your player with the most ability to score touchdowns to have more than 3-4 chances to score? Teams were kicking away from Hester already. He wasn't getting near the returns he should have.
  10. it's a miracle. best move the bears have made all off-season. Who is going to play RT? They have an unproven LT, an aging center, a young and average LG, and an old RG. Why did they have to lowball St. Clair? He played pretty good last year I thought. Cody Balogh is the 1st team RT in minicamp this week. He was a practice squad guy last year. Frank Omiyale will probably be the starting RT when all is said and done. Oh and St. Clair didn't "play pretty good". He gave up the 2nd most sacks in the NFL, for a team that didn't get sacked all that much. He was a decent run blocker though.
  11. John St. Clair has signed with the Browns.
  12. Would anyone give up Briggs for Cutler?
  13. With Cassel going for a 2nd and Peppers rumored to be going for the same, albeit a very high, 2nd round pick. Does that mean that's the price tag on Cutler? What about Boldin? Granted the Bears don't have the 2nd pick of the 2nd round to trade, but would throwing in a 4th or a current player help? The Cassel situation is unique because he was a backup to possibly the league's #1 QB. But Peppers, Boldin, and Cutler's situation seem to be similar. All 3 are upset at their current teams. Peppers for not being able to test free agency. Boldin for not getting paid like Fitz. Cutler for not being loved. I think Cutler and Cassel are at least similar in that both have flashed franchise QB ability. I'd still offer a 1st and 3rd (or a player) for Cutler. But getting Boldin for a 2nd and 4th/5th might be a nice fallback option.
  14. Some possibly minor news out of Bears camp, from what I understand. Earl Bennett worked as the #2 WR. Zach Bowman (the 1-game wonder from the Min game last year) has been moved to FS and will compete with Bullocks. Apparently John St Clair was offered 3 years for about 1.5 per year a couple weeks ago. Cleveland has shown interest and the Bears have shown interest in their RT from last year, Kevin Shaffer.
  15. Honestly, I don't see there being a chance Baltimore is interested. Cutler is more proven than Flacco, but after leading them to the postseason (one game shy of the Super Bowl) and with there not being a coaching change of any sort (offensively), I don't think Baltimore would consider the idea of trading Flacco and a high pick or two for Cutler. I don't think they'd trade Flacco AND a high pick. But I think they would entertain the idea. Though, they don't have the money or picks to pull it off.
  16. I was referring to fan bases crying out for management to make a trade. I'm sure some of those teams would be happy to trade their guy for Cutler, but I don't see an outcry coming from those towns. The most overwhelming thing I've heard about Jay Cutler from the general population is his sub .500 record. Yeah, I'm hearing that too. That's pretty weak, IMO. Denver has been horrible defensively for years. The biggest issue I have with him is his propensity to force the ball and misread defenses. He throws his fair share of INTs, but he's clear a franchise caliber QB. I'd trade a1st and 3rd rounder for him or do any of the deals mentioned above.
  17. Let's take a look at who definitely isn't: Indy New England San Diego New Orleans Pittsburgh Arizona NY Giants Atlanta Kansas City Dallas Baltimore Most likely not: Philly Green Bay Tennessee Cleveland Cincy Washington Houston Might be, but they aren't going to get anywhere: Carolina Seattle Oakland Jacksonville Buffalo Unfortunately, Chicago Now teams that are, have a need and can realistically pull it off: Detroit Minnesota St. Louis NY Jets Tampa Miami San Fran Detroit is the most obvious candidate. With two 1s, they can afford to trade one of them plus more for Cutler. But would he whine about going there? The Bears should offer Urlacher + for Cutler. I could see Baltimore and any of those "most likely not" teams (save for Tennessee) trading their QB for Cutler. Minnesota, Detroit, and Tampa are the most likely teams in any QB discussion. All have dire needs for a QB. Vikes are close and a QB could take them all the way. Detroit needs a face of the franchise and has money and picks. Tampa has tons of money and also needs a face. Hard to imagine any other team outbidding any of those 3 teams.
  18. I'm falling in love with Ayres. I'd even go as far as to pick him at 18 if I'm the Bears, assuming he's the best DE on the board then and maybe even if Oher is still on the board. I like Sidbury a lot too. I don't know that he'd last all the way to mid-3rd, though. I've pretty much committed to wanting the Bears to draft DE, OL, WR in any order in the first 3 rounds. Ayers was an absolute stud entering college, but had serious motivation issues (that he'll readily admit to now) his first couple of years at UT. Since getting serious about bettering himself, he's become a really good player. I think the character issues are behind him now and had they never been there, I don't think it's a stretch to think he'd be a top 5 type pick - he's got that kind of talent, I think. His senior bowl practice tape is excellent. He showed speed, strength, and every move possible for the DE position. I think those issues are behind him too, and if Marinelli's reputation is true, then the Bears should have nothing to worry about.
  19. I'm falling in love with Ayres. I'd even go as far as to pick him at 18 if I'm the Bears, assuming he's the best DE on the board then and maybe even if Oher is still on the board. 20. Bullocks was very mediocre in NO. He did have a pretty good reputation for being a ballhawk with good speed and instincts coming out of Nebraska 4 years ago. He has good size and good enough speed. He's probably the "truest" FS the Bears have had since Mark Carrier, but that's not saying much. I think something good can be salvaged from his talent if the Bears have the coaching to bring it out of him. That is the $1,000,000 question though.
  21. Houston went CB in the first round, because Vontae Davis was pretty good value at 15 and the LB we targeted (Cushing of USC) was off the board. Houston is a team that has historically had horrible pass defenses. So, again the Texans go DB and select: Rashad Johnson, FS University of Alabama.
  22. Do you "shore" up something or do you "sure" it up?
  23. Can you imagine a 7 game series with the Heat? Good lord they have played some good games this year. The Bulls must feel to DWade what the Cavs in the 80s felt to Jordan. I can't even get mad at that game. Gordon, Salmons and Rose did all they could offensively, except Salmons not being able to hold the ball. It's hard to win a game decided on the last shot when you don't get the last shot. Can only go to the well so many times.
  24. Yeah, he literally can't even catch pitches. Fox is bad and not an option at C.
  25. The Rams haven't really been pass first for a while. Not since Steven Jackson has become a star. They threw the ball 55.5% of the time this year to the Bears 54.8%. He was the Rams leading WR this year when the team was an absolute mess and clearly phasing him out of the offense. Neither TO or Holt will make the Bears championship contenders, but they could easily put up the same numbers, though they are different types of WRs. Add in the lack of distraction created by Holt and the off chance that he could work with Hester, Bennett, and a rookie WR to become 1/2 the route runner that he is, then I think Holt is worth a 4th or 5th rounder. He probably wouldn't whine too much about playing for the Bears, because he would be getting his money and he does have some history w/ Lovie.
