  1. You think Joe Johnson and Channing Frye is the best way to go to build a contender? Channing Frye would be an ok piece to spread the floor, but he's a guy. That's it. Joe Johnson is going to get a max or close to it contract. He's 28. The wheels fall off the shooting guards around age 28-30 and you want to pay him max money? That's your plan for beating LeBron and Howard? Bad plan. Yes, because there are so many fool-proof plans out there to beat teams led by LeBron and Howard.
  2. So, did Joe Johnson play himself out of a max contract in the Orlando series? If not Lebron, I still think Johnson and a big is the best way to go. Really like Channing Frye, even if you have to overpay.
  3. BUMP. Not good last night.
  4. It depends if you think Beckett will get better or not. I'd probably do the trade. Aramis will hit eventually. Beckett should turn it around eventually. If you think about it, he has been shelled 4 times this year. 2x vs. the Yankees great offense, and 1x each vs. Toronto and Texas who can both score. Of course his next few starts will be vs. Toronto, Yankees and Phillies.....so you may have to suffer for a couple weeks with him.
  5. Has good size. Has pretty good talent, but hasn't lived up to it because he gets penalties every chance he gets. However, he is just 27. He's 6'7", 315 and extremely athletic. May just need a change of scenery. Free will probably start, but if the Cowboys could develop Barron, I think he can still be a pretty good OT.
  6. I'm interested to see him on defense for a long period of time. I didn't see the game, but I believe I saw his only defensive chance (started the 6-4-3 double play). I want to see his range. When he gets to the ball, I want to see him make accurate throws. I want to see him make the routine play consistently. I want to see him get in the appropriate spot for cutoff throws and be able to make the necessary relays to the plate. I think he can provide offense similar to what the Cubs got from the 2B he is replacing. His biggest impact in 2010 will likely be what he gives the middle of the defense as he has a ton of range at SS, and Theriot will have above average range at 2B. He will have better hands and a stronger arm than Theriot. And Theriot should have better hands than the other 2B.
  7. Don't know if this was ever confirmed, but 6 RBIs is a record for a rookie in his debut.
  8. Castro has not swung and missed at a single pitch yet.
  9. Apparently that doesn't matter for statutory rape though....it matter what age she is...not what she said she is. I think LT only gets off w/ a solicitation charge. Sounds like he didn't beat her. Doesn't sound like he forced her to do anything. I think because he did hire a hooker, he should reasonably expect that the girl was over 18. I think it all falls back onto the pimp for putting a girl under 18 in that situation. Kind of like if you have sex w/ a girl you meet at a 21-and over nightclub. If she is really 16, then I don't think the guy is responsible because he had reason to believe she was over 21. If not, that is on the club for letting her in without proper ID.
  10. You're surrounded by southern california douchebags who must have been worshipping at the LT idol for the past decade. Raw's in Pittsburgh, which is a city that has not quite escaped the 80's. This is true. I am hanging my head in shame.
  11. But it makes him sound smart. He at least could have put more research into it and gave some compelling examples to support his argument.
  12. You're right. I should totally think of Taylor when I hear LT. The reason I don't, I would imagine, is because Taylor has been retired for a significant amount of time now and just doesn't get talked about in my neck of the woods, meanwhile everyone within a 100 mile radius from me has at least 1 LaDanian Tomlinson jersey hanging in their closet. So it seams. I'm hoping that gets me a pass. Exactly. Not the Tomlinson jersey part, but he's constantly getting called LT. I never call him LT. I'm old enough to remember Lawrence Taylor as a player and I think he is the greatest defensive player that has ever played the game (Butkus close 2nd). Tomlinson should be called LDT. But I know so many people call him LT that I always assume he is the one being talked about because he is the one typically in the news in recent years. BBB gets an obvious pass, raw does not. Why not?

  14. His line is actually: 2-3, 2.48 ERA, 29 IP, 7 BB, 20 K. The red flag, of course, would be the five homers he's surrendered so far. And all 5 have been given up in Des Moines. Principle Park plays pretty neutral. I would be a lot happier if those HRs were in Colorado Springs, Salt Lake, or Albuquerque.
  15. I don't know why you'd want anyone that "doesn't have much extra base power". Extra base hits are good. Not just in the middle of the order, but at all times. The only thing better than getting on base in front of your 2-3-4 hitters with a walk or a single is getting on with a double, triple, or having them hit with the bases empty and 1 run already on the board.
  16. It's sad that I have to think of LaDanian Tomlinson when I see those initials. I like Tomlinson and he's a sure fire HOF'er, but he should have never been able to get the nickname "LT".
  17. I was responding to has Hamilton started to hit yet.
  18. Hamilton's 11 for his last 32 with 3 HRs.
  19. Lot O starts to choose from. Wainwright is obviously starting both games @ PHI and @ PIT But then I need to pick the right 5 from: Harden @ OAK and vs. KC Matusz @ NYY and @ MIN Morrow @ CLE CJ Wilson vs. KC Peavy vs. KC and vs. TOR Morrow and Wilson have been pitching well, so I think I will go with them. Peavy has been so bad, that I don't want to risk starting him. I'll probably take out any start vs. the Yankees. Three matchups w/ KC who has only put up more than 4 runs once in 8 games.
  20. Between OF and U, I have: Shin Soo Choo Josh Hamilton Alfonso Soriano Nick Markakis Kendry Morales Pick 4.
  21. Not under Ron Turner, I agree. Not under Mike Shanahan either. Of course, he was in his 1st two years as a starting QB. I do have faith that someday in the near future he will be able to though.
