  1. I don't think Lou gets fired. He will just quit.
  2. The Mets of recent years have had bad pitching (everyone but Santan) and injuries (Beltran, Reyes, Delgado).
  3. I benched Kazmir and started Carlos Zambrano and Gio Gonzalez. Of course, Kazmir will throw 8 shutout innings while Gio and Z will go 0-3 this week with a 9.00 ERA.
  4. Would Lee/Berkman for Gonzalez/Lind be reasonable? I'm second in the league in BA, but I need power pretty badly and that's the one thing Lind has been able to do this year. I think that'd be reasonable.
  5. I thought it was pretty obvious thats what "depth" meant in this concept. It's not like the Bears had fewer players last year. Still a 53-man roster. I think the 53-men are better on this roster than they were last year. That's better quality depth. Right, but that just gets back to my point that "best depth in years" means very little when comparing with teams that struggled to win 8 games the past three years. The Bears didn't lose 9 games last year because of a lack of depth. Maybe you can say that about the 2007 team, once they lost Briggs they started to fall apart. Maybe if you consider they threw an injured Kruetz out there because their only C depth was playing LG for an ineffective Omiyale. And backup CBs suh as Vasher, Moore, and Graham were ineffective backing up Tillman and Bowman who both had nagging injuries all year. There was nothing the Bears could do for the most part about the poor play they got at several positions because the backups were not good enough. Of course, that may be more about the starters not being good enough than the depth. Hopefully, this year's team has both.
  6. Deep helps though, in case of injuries. The Bears are more prepared to play without Urlacher and Tinoisamoa than they were last year because the backups got a ton of time with them being injured. I think they are no more prepared, but are less able since they lost Williams. ??? Williams who started 1 game for Briggs (not Urlacher or Pisa), who probably would have played if the game meant anything? I didn't say they were prepared to play without Briggs. I think a team is naturally more prepared to deal with injuries the 2nd time around. Urlacher had been pretty healthy. The Bears were clearly not prepared as they threw Roach in there, who had trouble getting the defense where they needed to be, before they put Hillenmeyer in there. This year, if it happens again, they will know to put Hilly in there unless Roach makes huge strides calling the D. I don't know how you can say they aren't more prepared. And your argument that they are less able is flawed as well.

  8. Deep helps though, in case of injuries. The Bears are more prepared to play without Urlacher and Tinoisamoa than they were last year because the backups got a ton of time with them being injured. The safeties last year were a 6th round rookie (afalava), a 5th round guy w/ 1 year experience (Payne) and a guy who has been juggled his whole career (Manning). Now you have an experience vet in Chris Harris, Afalava w/ a year under his belt, a rookie with legit talent, Steltz who has more experience, and still have Manning. Not to mention Taylor as a backup RB. WRs who have a year under their belt now (Aromashodu, Knox, Bennett had 3 catches between them this time in 09). And you'll likely have Beekman and Shaffer as OL backups who have started for long stretches in their careers.
  9. I wouldn't trade Lee for Holliday. For whatever reason, Holliday can't drive in runs, even w/ Pujols on base in front of him nearly 1/2 the time. He probably wouldn't do Lee for Gonzalez. I wouldn't do Lee and Berkman for Gonzalez, unless you got something else in return.
  10. Pinto has a career BB/9 of 6. This year was the best control he's ever displayed, and he became more hittable with it. Routinely has a WHIP in the 1.5-1.6 range. He's not a very good reliever.
  11. I'm a comfortable 8th out of 10 teams in net saves. With a 3rd closer (have Broxton and Brian Wilson), I'd have a good shot at jumping up to 4th in saves with an outside shot at 3rd. Plus, KRod or Bell would allow me to lower my ERA and WHIP.
  12. Nothing?
  13. Bulls have done that before. Eddie Robinson.
  14. Plus, minor league All-Star games (before AAA) are basically a mix of the top prospects and the top performers. Nobody wants to see an all-star game with a bunch of 22-year olds repeating A for the 3rd time.
  15. Roto league. Keeper League. Categories are: R, HR, RBI, AVG, OBP, SLG, SB, Ks W, L, NetSVs, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP, QS I was offered Brandon Phillips and a closer (my choice of Matt Capps, KRod, and I could probably talk him out of Heath Bell) for Matt Holliday, Starlin Castro, and Roy Oswalt. Phillips would replace Figgins (who is heating up) and Polanco at 2B. Holliday would be replaced by Franklin Gutierrez (or Figgins, since I could put Dunn at OF and play anyone at U). Would you do it? Would you try to get it done w/o Oswalt?
  16. I GET TO TALK TRASH AT WORK TOMORROW!!!! PITTSBURGH HATES HOSSA.
  17. GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAL KANE!!!!!!
  18. You could make the argument that it's because his OBP has steadily dropped since April: April: .443 May: .348 June: .333 I don't know if there's a better option, though. Most of the candidates' numbers have trended downward. June has been 6 games long. And he hasn't even played in all of them. If anyone is making that argument look at the numbers overall and the 2 previous seasons. Fukudome should be hitting leadoff without question.
  19. Lineup: Fukudome RF Soto C Soriano LF Byrd CF Lee 1B Fontenot 2B Baker 3B Castro SS
  20. Things that happened in 1996: -The Bulls win 72 games and their 4th NBA title in 6 years -The Yankees win their first World Series title since the early 1980's -The Cowboys win their last Super Bowl to date, beating the Steelers -Bill Clinton defeatd Bob Dole and is reelected President of the United States -The Summer Olympics are held in Atlanta, GA -Princess Diana and Prince Charles are divorced -The OJ Simpson Trial begins -On October 27th at around 4:31 PM CST, a young umfan begins puberty Oh and also the Blackhawks won a game at what is then called the CoreStates Center, their last win in Philadelphia until TONIGHT ? The trial did start in 2006, ended in Feb 2007. Care to rephrase? Yeah, wow. 1996 and 1997.
  21. Depends on what games you have and have not worked this series.

  23. Archer's batting average against has gone down at every level so far. And that's while maintaining his K rate and GB/FB ratio. Very intrigued by him. I'm sure he'll be at AA at some point this summer.
