  1. Nobody's going to be interested in a lefty with a 4.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP? He needs to have a couple of good starts to have a real shot at a really nice return, but there's going to be interest in him (already is from the Mets). Agreed. What better SP is available other than Oswalt, who apparently doesn't want to go to many of the teams that could use him.
  2. Redick actually is pretty decent on the defensive end. I know he'll always have that sissy white guy stigma from his college days, but by most accounts he's worked hard to get stronger and better on defense. Orlando was actually using him as a defensive sub late in the year. He's not horrible like Korver is, but he's still undersized and overpowered by bigger 2Gs in the East. But he moves his feet and positions himself pretty well.
  3. And spend on what? Not very much out there.
  4. I've heard Deng/Gibson and a conditional 1st (I would assume Top 3 type protection) to Philly for Iggy and either Kopano or Green. I would do that trade with the re-signing Miller in mind. Isn't Iguadola just a healthier Deng? And those other 2 are just guys. I don't really understand the point. Is that Deng OR Gibson? If it's Deng and a 1st for Iguodala and whoever, I'd probably take it. I think Iggy is a better fit for the Bulls than Deng. It would take a lot to convince me to want to trade Gibson. If the Korver and Redick deals go thru and there is still money for Brewer.... A team of: PG- Rose SG- Brewer/ Redick SF- Iguodala/ Korver PF- Boozer/ Gibson C- Noah Also, Johnson, Asik, and Law for minutes here and there. That would be a very intriguing 8-man rotation. That's a team that can get out on the break, play very strong defense inside and out, shoot the 3 in the half court, has a post presence, 2-3 guys that can create their own shot, and would probably be the best rebounding team in the league.
  5. Ric Bucher: Don't get too pumped, Bulls' fans, on Redick -- nothing official from Orl, but other GMs expect Magic to match. Twitter
  6. Agreed on both counts. I do really like Reese Havens, though I don't know that they'd trade him for a 1/2 year of Ted Lilly. I think he can play in the majors next year, great batting eye, would make Theriot expendable at 2B.
  7. You play in an AL West only league? Going from Safeco to Yankee stadium as a lefty? From the AL West to the AL East? Significant He did great in Philly's small park.
  8. Business decision would have been playing in NYC.
  9. A lot of crap was very public that was completely untrue.
  10. His situation in Cleveland wasn't that bad. Got to the Finals. Got to the East Finals twice. Best record in the league 2 years in a row....all in the last 4 years. Sure he wants to win a title, but he is 25. His moved reeks of desperation and it wasn't necessary. If he wanted to win a title so bad, he could have convinced his team to bring in Amare, or Boozer, or Lee or Bosh to the best regular season team in the NBA for the last 2 years. That being said, I can't fault him for making the move. I have never said it was a bad or stupid move. I think it was the easy way out. Bottom line.
  11. I don't see how anybody can pretend there isn't some criticism warrented here. I don't see how anybody can pretend this isn't sour grapes from fans who wanted him to come to *their* cherry-picked title situation. I can tell you that's not the case for me. I wouldn't have cared if he had gone to any other team in the league (that could reasonably afford him).
  12. Same way Teixeria and Sabathia get criticized for going to the Yankees. Same way Favre got critized for playing the Packers and going to the Vikings. Don't act like this is a new concept.
  13. Its not a problem. He's a grown man, free to do whatever he wants. He's probably going to win just like he wants. That doesn't mean he didn't take the easy way out though. It's not like he's pushing 30 like Garnett, Allen and Pierce when they were put together (it wasn't their doing unlike the Miami situation).
  14. So James should sit there and wait for his team to draft another HOFer, because other players were lucky enough to already have HOF teammates by the time they were his age? We'll never know what Jordan would have done, because Jordan never had to worry about it. You're big on putting words into people's mouths this morning aren't you? He didn't have to just sit there. Cleveland could have brought in Boozer. They could have gone after Stoudamire. LBJ could have gone and created his own situation in NY, NY, Chicago, wherever. Jordan did have to worry about it. Pippen didn't come in as a sure fire top 50 all-time player. It took him years to develop into that. And many believe that Jordan made Pippen into that (I'm not going to argue that though).
  15. Riley didn't have anything to do with it. It was former Olympic teammates making a pact to play together 2 years ago. He had to make it possible for it to happen, and keep Wade in Miami. Yeah, I'm sure that was tough considering Wade never indicated any serious thoughts that he was leaving Miami.
  16. So again, he needs to get good teammates, but they can't be too good. It's an absurd argument. The even more absurd part is that he's not allowed to team up with a guy like Wade, because that would tarnish his attempt to get on the same level as Jordan or Magic Johnson, neither of whom ever won a title without another HOFer in their major contributing years. It's completely different. The Lakers already had Kareem and drafted Magic and Worthy (though I don't know how they kept getting picks that high when they were a good team). The Bulls drafted Pippen (or traded for him before he ever played a game). Magic didn't go run off to play alongside Bird. Jordan didn't go to play with Olajuwon or Ewing after Detroit beat him down for years.

  18. I think Lou messed up the lineup again. I thought Soto was supposed to hit 8th.
  19. Plus, they'll have the ability to have one of Wade/James on the floor at all times, which is what the Bulls were able to do with Jordan and Pippen for the better part of 6 championship seasons.
  20. And a point getting lost, is that all 3 can guard their position. They aren't going to be playing a bunch of 130-120 games. They are going to be able to score in the fastbreak w/ anyone, score in the half court with anyone, and score on isolations all day, then they each have the ability to stop their man at any given time.
  21. Those 3 are better than the Celtics 3 though. Wade is easily better than any of the 3 Celtics by himself, and he would be the 2nd best player on the Heat. They could make up for not having a Rondo on their team, but I'm sure they can get the equivalent of Perkins, Big Baby, Tony Allen, and whoever else. Really? Celts got pretty good mileage from a guy like Perkins, for example. I don't think there are guys like that just laying around for minimum money. They struck gold in Rondo; that would be a heck of a lucky stroke if the Heat also did the equivalent. Perkins put up 7 points and 5.5 boards that year. Rondo scored 3 fewer points per game and has doubled his assists since the championship season. Plus, I'd even go as far as to say: Lebron+ Wade+ Bosh > KG+ Allen+ Pierce + Rondo.. right now.
  22. Anybody hear about Amare being a sign and trade now? Apparantly, Hakim Warrick to the Suns is a part of the deal and the Bulls are involved. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-confidential/2010/07/hakim-warrick-might-still-be-signed-and-traded.html

  24. Why would you need two shooters like that, both are 2G and both have the same strength. Morrow is good enough to get 32-35 MPG, why spend that much leave JJ out there for about 15-20 minutes or so? I think you need 2 shooters, but yeah, not both that play the same position. Morrow AND Korver may be asking too much, but that's something that could be necessary.
