    Is Toenia the three technique? He has been playing well, but I am still seeing too much of Tommie Harris. This isn't the time to see if Harris can get it together. Toe was the starting 3-tech, but now Harris is starting again and Toe has been backing up Adams at the NT.

    The Bears offense is interesting. They don't have astronomical numbers, but they've been able to score as well as could have been expected. They are 30th in total yards, but they are 5 points away from being in the top half of the league in scoring. They are 24th in rushing, but would be a lot better if Chester Taylor didn't have almost 1/2 of the carries that Forte has at a 2.3 ypc clip. Forte is 7th in ypc for RBs with over 200 carries (13th if you take it to 150). Cutler is 5th in yards per passing attempt. Plus, there have been several games where the Bears have sat on a lead and tried to run the clock out. Dallas, Philly, Detroit, Minnesota x 2 and yesterday come to mind of games that the Bears could have kept racking up yards if they had the NE Patriots philosophy of running up scores.

    Calling very few 7 step drops. Cutler is getting rid of the ball quicker. The OL is also 100x better than it was early in the season. Whether it is continuity or whatever, I don't know, but they know their assignments and are getting the job done much more than they were early. Run game has become a factor. Martz will not be a head coach again. He's failed as a head coach, he's been successful as an OC. He's too old for a team to think he can change a be a good head coach the next time around.

    Knox is fast, but not quick. He just has straight line speed and no juke. Hester is fast, but is more quick than fast. Can juke at full speed, which is why he is a great returner.

    That's my hope too. Regardless of what happens though, I'd like to see the Bears play their starters for at least a half. If the Eagles lose tomorrow, the Bears will have a bye week to rest their players. I don't really want to see them essentially getting 2 weeks off. That doesn't seem to turn out well very often (colts last year exception). I think the Bears can beat the Packers straight up, but the Bears D has been playing like a unit that knew the last few weeks when they weren't in a must win situation. They knew the Packers lost to Detroit and played like they had a free game vs. NE. They knew they were in a win-and-in game vs. Minnesota, and they showed up then. They also knew they were division winners and didn't show vs. the Jets for most of the game. I can't see the defense getting motivated enough to beat the Packers this week, because in all reality it means a lot less to the Bears than it does to the Packers. The offense at least has the "everyone doubts us" mentality to fall back on.

    It's become fairly hard to get value for that pick. A potential new CBA before the draft could possibly change that value immensely. I think part of the reason for that though is that all the other teams picking in the top 10 typically have just as many holes as the #1 team to fill. This year you may have teams like SF, Minnesota and Arizona who may think they are a QB away from being serious contenders. The Vikings have the talent at RB and WR, they are quietly still the 6th best defense in yards allowed this year. The Niners and Cards both have hope in the West. The 9ers are still solid defensively. They have a great RB. They have young receivers. They drafted high on the OL last year. And they also have a strong enough defense. The Cards have more holes than the other 2 teams, but last time they had a QB....they were contenders. Granted, teams that are 1 QB away usually bring in an experienced QB, but I think part of the reason the value hasn't been there for #1 picks is that the teams picking in the top 10 have had way too many questions to give up that much value for 1 pick. Dallas is another team 1 player away, they aren't going after a QB...which is the only reason to trade for a #1 pick.

    My team completely pooped the bed this week. Vincent Jackson- 9.4 points Larry Fitzgerald- 3.2 Calvin Johnson- 9.2 Ray Rice - 10.2 Dallas D- 4 points I'm down 32 points and my opponent has Maclin and Hartley. I have Michael Vick and that's it. My other league, I'm down 63, but have Vick, McCoy, and Eagles D. So, I need the Saints to only get TDs tonight so Hartley only has 3-4 points. Then I need Vick to have a huge game and NOT throw to Maclin. So, basically I need a recreation of the Redskins game tomorrow night.

    I really don't want to have to care about next week's game. I think there's a huge difference between the #2 and #3 seed. I think it could mean the difference between Superbowl or not. Obviously, having to win 2 games instead of 3 to get to Dallas is huge. But also, the Bears as a 2-seed would mean either a rematch at home vs. a Philly team that they already beat or getting a dome Saints team to come out in the Chicago cold.

    I'm a big proponent of drafting a franchise QB when you get a chance. I also believe that Andrew Luck is the best QB prospect to come out since Peyton Manning. But I think Carolina needs to strongly consider trading the #1 pick. The Chargers built long-term success on the Eli Manning trade. I think Carolina can trade down to 3-8 or so and still get a good QB if that's what they want. They can also get about 2-3 extra picks to get some help in there. I think you have to give Clausen another chance. Maybe bring in a vet backup, but I think they have too many problems to invest more into a QB, no matter how great he is.

    I really wanted another 40 point game. The Bears offense is quietly, pretty good right now. Just to reiterate. Forte is averaging 4.74 ypc since the bye week. They've lowered the sacks per game by an entire sack, and that's NOT including the Giants game. Cutler has 5 of 8 games with a QB rating over 97, with 16 TD passes.

    I felt about the same honestly. Getting Nomar was the first time I felt like the Cubs had a legit shot to win a World Series since October 1984. I felt like it was going to be the start of the Cubs being perennial contenders built around its core of young great starting pitching, Corey Patterson, a never aging Sammy Sosa, and a stacked farm system, which brought along with it the ability to go out and plug in major pieces like Nomar to make a run every year. With Cutler, it was the first time the Bears had a legit QB in franchise history which was the missing link keeping the Bears from sustained success.
