  1. I think you are over glorifying the LB position by a country mile. Also, 30-40 years ago it was much more important than it has been the past decade. Defensive backs and pass rushers have been more important in the modern era. Agree. But what DB or pass rusher in the last 10 years could make a claim to be better than Ray Lewis? Not a year at a time, but body of work. Revis has been the best player at times. JJ Watt this year. Nobody has been consistently elite at those position the way Ray was from the start of his career to about 4-5 years ago. Not really a fair question since the shelf life of a defensive back or pass rusher is likely much shorter than a typical middle linebacker. But since you asked, how about Ed Reed? How is it not a fair question? It's kind of the point, and what those guys I listed have over every defensive player ever. They were great for a very long time. As for Reed, he would definitely have an argument.
  2. I read they also spoke with Fluker, Williams- Bama TE, and Marquise Goodwin wr Texas.
  3. Yeah by next year Yogi should be able be a real threat as a shooter. Im hoping this team can be special but next year could be a lot of fun with the athletes. Watford and Hulls will be replaced by much more athletic players. If Oladipo comes back u are talking perhaps the most athletic in the nation. Ferrell's not even a good 2 point shooter next year, How "should" he be ale to be a real threat next year after removing all of Indiana's best players? And as usual, how does Indiana work out the scholarship situation if Oldadipo stays? That leaves them 2 over assuming Zeller leaves. With the best players leaving Yogi would presumably be taking more shots as the only returning starter. He also was a good shooter in HS. He also will have a full summer of working on his shot in thr gym he plays most of his games in. Oh and Creek wont be on the team next year.....not that Oladipo is staying.
  4. He was so out of bounds!
  5. Gotta keep him on the floor when Deng gets back. He's too good not to get 25-30 minutes a night.

  7. Not watching the game, but according to the gamecast IU is up 14 and missed 6 of their first 10 FTs and have missed several layups. This team really needs to put up one of those defining FULL games against someone good. Not that Penn St. is good, but the first half vs. Minnesota was one of the top 3 teams in the nation. However on most nights, they look like a borderline top 15 team. Tough to complain about a 17-2 team, that is 9 points (including a last second shot) away from being undefeated, but IU hasn't even played consistently good like a legit preseason #1 can/should.
  8. Out of curiosity, who are those two? I do agree that there are very few guys I'd actually feel have earned a top 5 pick, I do think there are guys with the talent to be top 5 guys, but have too many questions to be legit top 5 guys - Bray, C Patterson, Hunter, Ansah, Barkley, John Jenkins, for example. Luke Joeckel and Jarvis Jones. Star Loutelelei is probably there too. You have to include Lotulelei; I think he's a better prospect than Jones. I said probably because I said 2 in my original post. Jarvis Jones may actually be the questionable one of those 3. He has that degenerative back condition that caused doctors at USC to tell him to retire.

  10. Werner actually sounds a bit like Vanden Bosch - a hard working overachiever. KVB was fun to have in his prime, but I wouldn't bank on a lot of success stories like him. Werner's pretty good. More dynamic than a young VandenBosch. I've heard Chris Long comparisons (because they're both white), but I think he's a better athlete. Heard Osi comparisons, and that's probably a little better. Good athletic ability, relentless motor, decent number of pass rush moves. Not sure he's a top 5 talent, but there's about 2 people in this draft I think are legit top 5 talent.
  11. Love Ogletree but agree I don't see LB as a first round worthy pick. Almost have to go offense...assuming Melton is back. TE, OL, or maybe even an outside shot at a WR.

  13. Yeah, Jeffery has immense potential but they need a speedy WR who can play the slot ahead of Bennett. I agree that this is something better addressed in the draft than free agency since Melton and OTs should be the primary focus in FA. How fast things change. Beginning of the 2011 season, the Bears had a healthy Johnny Knox and still had hopes for Devin Hester. Now they lack speed at the WR position.
  14. Jeffery has so much potential to blow up next year. He showed in the GB game what he is capable of and didn't actually record a catch. With Marshall on the opposite side, presumably a real offense, and another camp, I think he has 60-catch, 800+ yard potential in a good offense. Ideally, you'd like a better 3rd WR than Bennett, who would be a really solid #4. But you're going to have to develop that guy. And Bennett's probably good enough as the 5th option if you get a good pass catching TE and get Forte more involved in the passing game.
  15. Yeah speed at Wr would be ideal. I wouldnt go after it early though because it would be at the expense of TE OL or LB.
  16. Have you seen him this year? I think he went into his decline phase this year. He doesn't look like he used to and dropped a lot of easy passes this year IMO. It would be an overpay to get him even if he was still awesome. Plus Bears don't have a big cap space and have a bunch of other needs to fill. I would rather sign Brian Hartline or even a Donnie Avery type. Welker is too expensive. If u want that type of player u can sign Edelman or Hartline for a lot cheaper.
  17. Fwiw I think Cutler is a better QB than Flacco. Flacco isnt that good.
  18. http://www.csnchicago.com/football-chicago-bears/bears-talk/Joe-Flacco-a-Bear-Very-very-long-shot-bu?blockID=825395&feedID=9399 Well, he's right. The Bears have only NOT been in the playoffs 3 years in a row because of Cutler......missing games due to a terrible OL and WRs.
  19. The NFL playoffs featured: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, #1 pick Andrew Luck, #2 pick RGIII.....yet the Superbowl is Joe Flacco vs. Colin Kaepernick.
  20. Nevermind. For some reason I thought it was going under 4 minutes not 8.
  21. Pierce has outplayed Ray Rice for about 6 weeks now.
  22. Good win basically without Deng. MARCO. goat to hero!
  23. The belief is that Hoke will stay.
  24. Ray Lewis is the 3rd or 4th best defensive player ever after Lawrence Taylor, Dick Butkus, and/or Reggie White.
  25. Technically, he had a lot of help producing that talent. He must have supplied the raw goods on his own while his wife developed it once they were in the organization. Either way, this is a huge + for Trestman. This shows an ability to identify a prospect that had the upside and then to get that prospect to output that level of talent on a consistent basis.
